A really interesting video! At first I thought about similar races on mountain bikes, that last a lot longer (megavalanche), and thought "9 minutes is a bit short". but then I thought more about it: you are 100% your own suspension, with the leg-work that comes with it. Mountain bikers have to be a lot of their own suspension as well, but they also have a great deal in their bikes. So when thinking about it: hats off to your run! Well done!
yeah, it's super exhausting, breaking and turns at high speed even more than bumps. the final stop is sometimes particularly hard, when you've put all your power into the run, and your legs a just about to give up. when i was a kid, we used to do "Tele-Ski", a TV program with ski training, which always ended with a run like this video, for the viewer to mimic at home. it was far shorter, i think ~4 minutes, and obviously without the course and speed - the entire family's legs were BURNING! lol. it was the 1970s or 80s, no action cams. it was always mentioned in the show how brave the cameraman was: he had to hold a heavy analog video camera with tape recorder in front of his chest, using both hands, and run down a world cup course as fast as possible. 😲
My God, the leg burn at the bottom must be something else and you could hear that compression towards the end. Just made the speed of skating/herring boning up those sections all the more impressive. Congratulations 🎉
@@RandomUser2401 There is a long path at the top which is blue, and some lovely parts that are red, but parts are steep and of course, in a race it feels very different to a nice ski down 😊
Fantastic run, my friend, and a great, simple video. I did this race in 2016 - not so fast, not so strong and not so stylish, but I did it. The great thing about this race is anyone can enter. As I watched you I remembered and felt every turn, every bump, and the Woodcutter’s path 😳 - oh, the Woodcutter’s path 🫣😳 (the uphill part after the Cannon run) - I had to skate from lower down (not so fast around the turn) and it was brutal. You did a great run - exactly as I did it (when I’m dreaming!) 🤣. Brilliant. Thank you.
Da bleibt einem ja das Herz stehen .... .
Well done 👍. Impressive race track, the technical middle section had few very challenging turns too. You managed them well. It would have been nice if your camera would had a speedometer app. In some places the impression was that your speed was above 100 km per hr, maybe even more! Keep up your good camera work. ✌️ Danke sehr, mille grazie, merci beaucoup.
You’re welcome and thank you very much for the kind words. I hope next year there will be a video with the speedometer on the screen. I had an app running with gps. It said my top speed was about 108 km/h.
Skied this run many times, but never the race. The complete run normally starts at the top of the Schiltorn, goes down black 10. I thought the Inferno also started from the top. But the video appears to start from the bottom of black 10?
Wow this brings back memories. I skied at Schilthorn in the mid 1980’s. I thought I recognized some of the spots at the beginning of your run. I followed a colleague there with only a few hours of ski experience that I had done two years earlier on a small hill in Canada. Coming down from the top by starting in moguls was probably the most frightening thing I had done on skis. Going up one bump at the time, lining up with the next and so on until that first stretch was done was something else. Some of the narrow icy parts of the run on the edge of steep drop-offs had me in life depending snow plough position most of the way😰. I’ll never forget the experience. As others have mentioned, the burn must have burn awful. I had experienced some burn on our last runs of the day down from the Kleine Scheidegg.
I thought my heart was going to explode just watching this. Awesome stuff.

Thank you! Legs really did burn 🔥 😅
Great run ! “Feel the burn” no doubt. 🔥🤘
Yes! Thank you!

Thank you for your kind words. They definitely describe this race and the feeling whilst driving. 😁☺️
Congratulations. Great race, well skied. Like you, I am sure, my heart skipped a beat on the last steep near he finish. Phew!
Yes it did! 😅
That was a great ride! Respect the stamina.
Thanks!
I've no idea about skiing, but this was a blast watching! Well done unknown rider!
I could not make it this year... Thanks for the virtual race!

Danke dir für die netten Worte. 😊
I would love to try that. I would also love to be 15 years younger....! Great job, thanks for the race.
I was 50 when I did it. My friend was 60. Don’t give up! 😅
Wow, so Mega! Zwar schon hoch gelaufen, aber runter? Respekt
Bien aimé la section abrupte. Tu a tout donner bravo !
Merci 🙏
Alle Achtung, meinen Respekt!!
Literally felt your pain... good work fella.
If I were 40 years younger, I would strongly try this course!!
I don’t know your age, but I did it when I was 50. My friend was 60. Don’t give up hope!

I swear I would have a lot of *peep* *peep* sounds in my mike, respekt!
Feeling my thighs burning just watching…. Some long runs in Sunshine Village but this is big time.
Danke 👍
You are my hero! Have to try that! 😅
Awesome! No shit muzak. Just skiing :)
Good Job. Looks like fun, except that ice area
Your speed is imemse on those downhill bits, makes to others look like their walking
Great effort. Some beautiful lines.
Could you walk the next day?! :)
Yes I have walked normally the next day. 😁
There are uphill sections? This is awesome!
Haha yes there are uphill sections. They are pretty hard.
Super! Immer Vollgas....
8:31 - the pain!
Oh yes 😅

That's true, the race start is at "Kleines Schilthorn".
With you all the way down.
Herrlich!
Good Job!
Wieviel Killometer spult man da so ab?
Respekt!
How many racers and what place did you get?
Made it to place 674 in Overall. It was my 7th time racing.
👌
What's the vertical descent?
About 1300 meters.
Any flatter and it would be an uphill green. That's 9 mins of my live I won't get back.
Is it allowed to use Telemark Skis? It would be great in this race!
I think you could also go with telemark, yes.
How many kilometres it is?
This year it was about 9,5 km.
Vielen Dank fürs mitnehmen. Supercoole Abfahrt 😊 Wo ist das genau?
Sehr gerne. Schön, dass es gefällt. 😊
Das ist im Skigebiet Mürren-Schilthorn.
...wo ist das??
Das ist im Skigebiet Mürren-Schilthorn.
I’m in pain
❤
niceee
can anyone participate to this???
Yes, anyone can compete there. You only need a team for the registration. :)
How far is this ?
This year it was about 9,5 km. Originally it goes 15km.
@@MrLeonhardr
I tried working it out based on the length of the video and an average speed of 50 mph ,
@@fradaja thank you. This could’ve been my average speed, yes.
@@MrLeonhardr amazing you must have legs like an oil rig
