5:23 the fact that there's a contingency plan for Capridor beeing stolen by Agent......sweet Jeebus that card is a menace. I miss the days when it was just a janky reanimation target.
When they announced Agent of Treachery, I thought it was a cool card at first! I hated the Mass Manipulation every simic deck ran as their partial wincon, so it costing 7 sounded good and fair. Hard to get to turn 7 and steal something that can make up for possible tempo loss if it's in your opening hand. But then shortly after I saw Blood for Bones and was like, "ok, I can see how this will get messy." Thassa revealed, "Jesus Christ we aren't ready."
No, Agent is a sh1tty card. Stop blaming "the format". People were cheating it out on turn 5 with Nissa months and months ago. Agent of Assery is a terrible card regardless of the format.
14:20 Thrill discarding Capridor here after your opponent completely whiffing on the wish. The best example of the value of withholding information with an instant-speed spell as long as possible I've seen in a long time.
I put the Capridor in my Mardu Mutate deck, because I also run Marauding Raptor in it as well. Not only discounts Capridor, but also turns that shock ETB effect into +2/+2. Also all your mutations are discounted. If you have a raptor out late game, you can mutate Snapdax on one and then play a second raptor. Shocks the new raptor buffing snapdax to 5 with double strike for 10 total. Good card with broken interactions.
@@ICameHereToComplain I'm right there with you. I've only got a single Snapdax from draft so far. But I'm always hungry for a list that isn't just some version of Blue/Green ramp
That was a fun watch man. You are definitely my favorite mtg youtuber. Love your decks, and I've always been impressed with your knowledge of the cards in whatever format you're playing. Keep up the good work.
I'm placing this here because i don't know where to say it.. I would really like a video, although it might be too long, discussing over the sidedeck, which cards are good in certain decks, which cards counter other decks and things like that. It would really help having a structured presentation of sidedeck options, as well as having a little knowledge over what cards might be sidedeck by our opponent, so we can play around that! Keep up the lovely content anyway, even if you never implement this idea!!
I look up the most popular decks in this meta and think - naah, no standard for me. And then, LVD surprised with Offspring combo deck, and now this... gotta love the man
Agent was designed in the same set as Blood for Bones and other effects to abuse ETB, the Sultai archetype of M20. The problem is the amount of things that cheat it straight from your library without the need of janky reanimation spells and the absurd ramp in standard.
Carpidor is such a funny card. The interaction with wraths, wiping your opponent’s board while making your creatures bigger, while being immune to a huge chunk of removal (excluding Stomp, but including Heartless Act). And then some of the curve-toppers like Chandra having perfect synergy with Capridor. Best deck in the format, in my opinion. Maybe not the strongest, since Agent of Treachery decks take all of those spots, but it’s the coolest one definitely. For every way to cheat Agent into play, Wizards did one good by giving us the nice, refreshing taste of Capri Sun.
Been trying to build around Capridor since launch but standard is just too miserable to slow strats like this. Every top tier deck plays counterspells or at least bounces(Borrower/Teferi/AetherGust) stuff. It's really sad when the best answer in standard is countering and decks being so fast that bouncing ends being the best removal.
Fun deck. Capridor is one of my favorite cards to build around. I'll need to update my capridor deck after this one. One card i like with capridor in my version is Marauding Raptor because it deals damage to it and makes it cheaper. Once i played T2 Raptor and then T3 Raptor+2x Capridor against mono red,it was really fun. I also play 3 copies of feather and some protection spells too.(Few copies of Fight as one and God's Willing) It doesnt die to clarion, and if you are casting Storms Wrath you can protect it sometimes. But still not sure about that addition. I was also using Justice Strike as removal or doubling the capridor but response seems very good too, might change to that.
Can definitely make a more creature-heavy build with Raptor and Capridor. As it's not great with Haktos and all the sweepers I couldn't make it work in this build.
Capridor + Reckless Rage from Ixalan = great Combo. I hoped the whole time for a reprint of Reckless Rage in one of the last sets. My Feather deck is missing this card tremendously.
I was played my version of this deck the other day and my opponent played Storm's Wrath on their turn when I had just cast Capridor. They paused and did nothing for like a minute. On my turn I played another Storm's Wrath and swung in for lethal. Clash of Titans is also nice with Capridor.
It is amazing how much a flying goat just stops mono red. Although I have not seen many mono red players anyway. Wonder what happened to them. Boros decks are so much fun right now.
Agent of treachery is crap and I hate it and I'm looking forward to it rotating out in September. But then I remember the infinite turn deck a few metas ago. God I hated that deck even more.
four days ago I built a similar deck, my version was very binary I like this version but I don't have all the cards yet. I like def clar better than flame sweep as often you need the lifegain/removal to stay viable for that one turn kill. There is also that card chance for glory that if I had access to I would like to play with.
I was really hoping Gideon's Sacrifice would work with Capridor. Unfortunately it still counts as combat damage. Go For Blood, though, can be a strong 2-for-1 in place of some of the draw spells (since it can be cycled to find the combo pieces too).
Playing standard during this time was a masochistic venture. Fires, Agent, Winota. Thoughts of these matches still rear their ugly head when I'm trying to sleep.
I started out with Cage in the main and all the looting effects. It's a little awkward when you're not sure if you should cast it. Even if it's only one mana it can still mess up your curve later.
Are you talking about the Boros soldier with mentor? Wouldn't want to play that and Haktos in this deck probably....too many four drops. Mentor doesn't do much when the Capridor grows quickly without it. And Haktos is probably just better because it's more resilient. Could be a fun one or two of, maybe. But in most cases what happens, you just kill it with a sweeper and deal an extra 4 damage? Best case scenario you use a big Intervention on it to win, but that's what Capridor is there for anyway.
Not really playable in a Teferi and Agent world I'm afraid. It's a fun wincon if you combine it with a 20 damage Star of Extinction in Historic. Turning an Intervention in an actual burn spell isn't quite worth the hassle here.
Hi legen I've been making some "planeswalker proliferate decks before it rotates. I have a bant a golgari and a bluewhite list which is particularly good (teferi yes i know). Do you accept any suggestions?
They gotta ban agent eventually right? its too easy to cheat out now with the Ikorea release. Its muddling down deck-building into like 3 possible winning decks. I know a lot of people are against bans, but its just not fun to play or play against. Am I crazy or no?
Don’t you love that Wizards, in their great and powerful wisdom, have kept the almost unanswerable Agent in the meta so long? Totally enjoying every second. Thanks WOTC 🙏
Well it's answerable....Hushbringer is a hard counter. Counterspells generally do the trick. There are of course ways to cheat it into play which are annoying....the Ikoria additions didn't help in that regard. But even failing that, ramp just seems so absurd right now that hard casting Agent by turn 5 isn't all that remarkable. And the Thassa wombo-combo makes it all worse.
@@bonythomist haha....don't get me wrong, I love putting an Agent in play. As I said elsewhere, one of my favorite decks pre-rotation (I think LVD featured it) was a Dimir reanimation deck with Agent as the main payoff. But I've yet to crack or craft a single Lukka card :)

Marauding Raptor has a nice interaction with the Capridor, not only making it cheaper, but larger.
My favorite misplay among the many in this video is the Extinction Event hitting nothing. Simply sublime.
Agent of treachery should say “when this card enters the battlefield, if you played it from your hand and paid its mana cost, gain control of...”
And it should end with "... Until agent of treachery leaves the battlefield". Such an obvious target for abuse.
@@nickritchie2154 Agent would be straight unplayable if it had that rider though.
