I did this upgrade to my jeep after seeing your video and its way better. Was pretty easy to do and it is 100% better than the original design. Plus now I have factory tinted glass which is nice. Btw eventually I will get around to fixing my front window seals and I am thinking I might like to upgrade those to the 97 windows as well and I am curious where you found the info to do that at, I have looked some to no avail.
Cool, yeah its a great upgrade. As for the front windows you have to mod (cut) the 97-01 lower seal to fit around the vent window that’s about it. To mod the 84-96 door to use a 97-01 window is a pain. You would have to cut out the front channel from the older one and spot-weld in from the newer, it would be easier to swap doors.
that sucks as Ive heard swapping doors is no simple task either o well, I can live with the current window situation with a simple 97-01 bottom seal upgrade. Thanks for the reply!
To drill out the rivet on the vertical divider/guide... How did you the outside chrome (or black) trim out of the way to do the drilling? Good video and explanations, but this aspect points to at least one problem of not doing the video WHILE doing the work.
well as I stated in the video I was not going to show that part as there are a number of others on the Tube such as th-cam.com/video/xTSQnPaGOiM/w-d-xo.html and th-cam.com/video/1ZeCWaM5nIk/w-d-xo.html The rubber seal just pulls off (use a plastic trim tool to protect the paint) and the rivet is right there can't miss it.

there were several version that included chrome handles, such has the 1993-96 Cherokee Country addition (mine were off a 93) also the 84-90 XJ Cherokee Wagoneer had Chrome as well as the Limited. the 97-01 did not have a chrome option.
Gee Navy Dad, You're a nice guy but this video is ALL TALK AND NO ACTION. Seriously, a HOW TO VIDEO needs more "how to" than bla bla. Can you do a 30 SECOND video follow up which only shows the actual method of dismounting the old trim? Does anyone have a link to a video which shows how to remove the window trim on a 1998 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4.0 rear passenger door? P.S. My door won't open so I need to get this trim off so I can get access to the latch mechanism inside. So don't give me instructions the depend on removing the door. Thanks to all for your help

Is the window assembly the same for an XJ with automatic windows?
Yes it should work just the same for power windows but just be sure to get all of the window mounting hardware from the 97-01
