Same. Just rented one for a few days. Coolest thing was the lane keep assist, cross traffic alert. I'm a Honda fan but if get this over an accord. Honda Accord looks better outside but Hyundai has a better interior
I know Camry and Accord offer forward collision warning, emergency braking, and adaptive cruise control. But personally I’d rather have the blind spot monitoring and rear cross traffic alert. I trust myself to be paying attention and stop or stay in the lane. I rather have help in situations where I can’t see as well.
Agreed. Drivers should be able to drive properly. It's would be much more helpful to have features for things drivers can't do and not for things drivers should do.
Having emergency braking and pedestrian detection is more of an insurance. You will never know when you will need it, and when you do, you might have saved your own or someone else's life(s). You might trust yourself to pay attention and stop or stay in your lane, but I don't trust majority of drivers out on the road to do the same.
They’re definitely all valuable features, and if they help you avoid one accident they pay for themselves. The BSM and RCA are the ones I find I want the most. As someone who’s worked in auto insurance I wish more cars had the RCA because the most common accident stories start with “I was backing out of a parking space...” Although those seldom result in injuries. So in that respect the FCW and auto breaking might be more important I’ll admit.
Got an SEL with Tech Pack for 22.5k a couple of months back. No other car in the segment can beat the price to features ratio. No real weaknesses noticed and it is a great car for daily commute. Absolutely love the ADAS features like lane keep assist and adaptive cruise. The bluelink app feature sealed the deal for me. Definitely would recommend it
I'm the proud owner of Two Hyundais. I had a 2017 Hyundai Elantra until last year. My Nephew and I were in an accident. We're both fine, but the car was totaled. I wound up getting the 2019 Hyundai Sonata SEL and I Love it. I still have the 2018 Hyundai Tucson SEL Plus.
Mine is black. It only has 17,797 miles in it and i got it in late 2017. All paid off. I'm an OTR trucker. I only go home maybe once every 2-3 months. My sonata is practically brand new. Very reliable car. Runs great. Just enough oomph in sports mode to get me where i need to be. Don't need a new car even though i can get around 10-15k trade in. Why? It's a great car
Micah Muzio yeah no problem! U kinda gave me an idea on what car to get last year . I really liked my Hyundai Elantra 2017 . Keep doing what your doing ! Ur really good at it! 😁
My sonata is really comfortable, even in the rear seats. I'm a big guy and I still feel like I have soo much rook in the car. To be honest, I feels like a full sized sedan in my perspective
I suppose what makes me lean to the Hyundai/Kia, all other things being basically equal, is that no other maker has this good a warranty. Honda, Toyota, Mazda, Chevy, Ford, Chrysler/Jeep, none of them will back their vehicles with 5/60 and 10/100. WHY?
I've had my 18 Sonata since November and while it wasn't my first choice for a four door sedan, the price simply cannot be beat. I previously owned a Subaru Legacy with hundreds of thousands of miles and wanted a new one but lease deals were astronomical compared to the Hyundai. Actually all lease deals besides the Altima were astronomically higher. Plus I get a ton of features standard and that wonderful warranty. Still obsessed with the trunk button! Styling has grown on me, the interior is meh but who cares, I use it to commute to work and shuttle my two pups on dog park runs and hiking trips so glad it's not fancy inside. Outside it looks much more premium than it is. I do wish I got the Eco model with the 1.6T but the 2.4 is adequate and I can't complain about the mpgs. My only complaint with the car was interior cloth color but in talking to a different salesman at Hyundai I realized I was flat out lied to by the guy that sold me the car. I have the grey gross cloth but it does come with a darker almost black which is what I asked for. Bullcrap but whatever. After browsing all the dealers I flat out refuse to go to Honda ever again after their horrific service and Subaru is not far behind. My only other pleasant experience was at Mazda. Kudos to Hyundai for this wonderful car. Can't wait for the all new model in a few years.
I bought an SEL for $18700 a few weeks ago. Huge discounts to get the 2018s off the lot. I might buy a 2019 if they're discounted. I love driving new cars. Its my one indulgence
One huge drawback in both the Korean car makers' rear seat and something no reviewer seems to point out is the lack of thigh support and awkwardly short seats, which makes any journey more than 30 minutes really tiring. I don't know why Kia and Hyundai can't get it right? Even in something like a midsize sedan? This is definitely one area where both Camry and Accord really shine.
style 20 Seriously? It has been a feature on the Sonata Limited 2.0 for years and is available in Canada (built in the same plant) or Europe without buying the top trim. My 2018 Santa Fe Sport has one, so do Tucson and even Elantra in certain trims. For the most part you can't buy a big/"XL" Santa Fe without one.
Michael Ratledge You gotta think about it in a business way. if they offer all those features in Hyundai sonata. Do you think they will have that much feature in the genesis? Back then the genesis wasnt a luxury car. But now that it is, Hyundai have to save some feature for it so it can sale. Toyota for example don't have memory seat in camry, or ventilated seat. They save those for Avalon and Lexus. Honda on the hand, put every available feature on accord and it kills the Acura sale. So Hyundai is doing what's best for their luxury cars.
my mom has a 2015 limited, i have a 2012 limited. the difference between the 2012 and 2015 are huge but from 2015 to 2018 the only thing i see worth is the damn hidden trunk button 😂
Im looking for a camry or accord but test drove a sonata...limited...with that 10 year warranty I cant just walk away from that...the car was nice...I drive a prius and my first car I wanted was a 88 accord...I love hybrids...hyundai maybe just maybe...
ArT oF wAr Hey, in June, will be 2 years since I bought my 17 Elantra. I just turned 31.000 miles on it. Has been great, no problems, or issues with anything. That's been my experience so far. Good luck.
I have a 2017 Hyundai Tucson Sport with a 1.6L engine and the 7 speed dual clutch transmission. If you live somewhere where it gets below 40° frequently, the car is a pain to drive.
2017 Passat is very much reliable for us. In their 2017 base trim they offer Forward Collision Warning and Autonomous Emergency Braking (Front Assist), it saved us from big collision. No one was offering this in their base trim unless you pay extra.

It's funny how at the beginning of the video, the previous gen. Sonata (2011-2014) was driving behind it . The previous gen. Sonata is the best looking Sonata. This new one looks odd
The models from around 2012 were a thousand times better, so sexy, everyone had one!!! Now they are just bleh and you never even see them on the road. Hyundai has been doing great but this last few years has been a very big MISS!
Acc0rd79 Yeah Bri back in 2012 there were not that many great choices. The 2012 had a ton of features in it for the year. The 2012 Ford Fusion and 2012 Honda Accord and the 2012 Mazda 6 were a bit lagging and outdated. Now the 2017-2018 has so much competition out there in terms of that all Full-size sedans are great in some aspect.
I agree. While I don’t dislike the new Sonatas, I have to say my ‘11 is insanely more attractive and it makes more power. I have no clue why Hyundai decided to power down the turbo- 245 as opposed to the 270 in the ‘11- but that’s just another reason why I’d take mine over a new one any day.
Acc0rd79 I definitely agree. The fluidic design scheme from the earlier versions truly made the Sonata stand out from the crowd and yes, everyone wanted and spotted one. On the bland side in terms of exterior styling for a few years now. I wonder if they are intentionally going in the direction opposite of Camry and Accord in terms of styling with both manufacturers taking a bolder approach to looks.
The front end is smarter than the 2013~2017 version, but the rear end is a mess with the flat "Sonata" plaque with nothing to break up the flat trunk panel. The interior remains...actually boring. The only real redeeming feature I like is the PHEV version which the Camry & Accord still do not have & the batteries don't eat as much space as the Fusion Energi.
Is this Sonata unique to North America? I only ask because I know Honda and Ford have gone to a 1.5L turbo 4 cylinder engine, because in Europe anything larger than 1.5L gets an extra tax. So I was wondering if this platform is unique to us. And it's huge, of course....
I still think my 2013 Hyundai Sonata limited 2.0t still looks better on the wheels, styling, curves, and wheels then the 2015 refresh or this new 2018 model...not to mention they've removed the panoramic sunroof claiming they wanted to save weight and dropped the horsepower from 275 in my 2013 down to 245 claiming they wanted to make it more efficient, I just don't get it...it'll be back to the boring rental car lot model it used to be back in the early 2000's in no time...smh
My 2011 Sonata looks classier, especially the mini digital gauge cluster for the gas tank, engine temperature, doors etc. The dashboard on the 2011-2013 Sonata models is way classier on all trims. Even the base. But that’s just my opinion.
You said it. The new model looks like someone chopped off part of the front and redesigned it. I don't think I'll be getting a new one anytime soon. Really disappointed by the way this one looks.
When is Hyundai/Infinity coming out with an update for the flawed radio in the 2018 Hyundai Sonata Limited 2.0T? The treble control doesn't work for the radio, not just in my car, but in ALL 2018 Sonata Limited 2.0Ts! The slider moves from -10 to +10, but there is no change in the high frequency sound, like there should be! Blake Swan lol Blake you leave negative reviews on every car review on TH-cam. Are you just a miserable troll? Nothing positive to say ever!!! I can only imagine what you drive because no car ever lives up to your standard.
Honestly I think this generation Sonata looks much better than the previous generation Sonata. I love how the Sonata hybrid from that generation looks, though. Its just how they made the tail lights on the previous gen that made it ugly to me.
I rented that car. It was amazingly smooth drive and high quality interior.
Same. Just rented one for a few days. Coolest thing was the lane keep assist, cross traffic alert. I'm a Honda fan but if get this over an accord. Honda Accord looks better outside but Hyundai has a better interior

The accord has those too, on every trim but the base and sport
My 18 Camry SE has BSM and RCTA, it is available as a $600 package. It comes standard on the higher trim XSE and XLE.

Literally

They hit the jackpot when they hired this guy to make these reviews, excellent job man!!
I eye 5 years
I like the way Micah introduces and talks about the cars... fun to watch
adeleke akinlabi better than motor trend
That sunroof closure is practically a safety feature just in case you crash so that the glass won't hit you

im really looking forward to seeing micah in like 10 years with a dad bod and even worse jokes...
The cool thing about the sonata as I have it is that if something doesn’t fit in the trunk it can open more space

I like the automatic sunroof cover closure feature, it's simply futuristic ! :-p

Michael Ratledge Hyundai is finally learning from Toyota. They can't add every feature in the sonata. They have to save some for the genesis

However, my main issue is with the treble control not working at all! Infinity where is your quality control? Do you try out your products before you release them? Come on, get me an update so my radio will sound like it should! I'll bet there is no issue with treble control for the radio in the 2018 HONDA ACCORD!

Nah! No chance against any of the Japanese competitors, including Subaru Legacy.
@ 3:11 those lines dont meet right. The 2018 Sonata deleted alot of features for 2018 such as door welcome lights, pano roof, glove box light and many more .That grille looks like a mud skippers mouth. This currrent model will not sell well
Love the review, hate the car. I owned a 06 Sonata and this i s unrecognizable.
This car became very disappointing with the update. No idea how there 2L Turbo is that slow and boring
Blake Swan lol Blake you leave negative reviews on every car review on TH-cam. Are you just a miserable troll? Nothing positive to say ever!!! I can only imagine what you drive because no car ever lives up to your standard.
I want this as my first car but I’m too broke
sky peters if you have a job just make a payment for 7 years on one
Honestly I think this generation Sonata looks much better than the previous generation Sonata. I love how the Sonata hybrid from that generation looks, though. Its just how they made the tail lights on the previous gen that made it ugly to me.
