    A brilliant little swr meter. Just a quick check on the green led, and then the display for more detailed info. Perfect for everyday use to prevent damage to the finals caused by antenna problems. Handy for mobile and portable as well.

    Thanks Fred, actually just got this little guy for the mobile, mine came in, just in bubble wrap and plastic bag no box/directions, i was a bit disappointed how they shipped it, no protection for its travels! Thanks for the details on how it works with each feature.

    It has 200 watt top output, jacked up one radio to 173 watts on the meter. Good review ….also you get % efficiency of you set up - radio & antenna with the meter.

    Hi Fred, Had one of these meters for a while but it appears to be a slightly earlier model. Was rather disappointed because though it took a long while to arrive it appeared to be used, scratches on the case, loose screws and broken seals. Despite this it seems to be reasonably accurate so i will keep it. Keep the videos going Fred.

    I really like this compact unit. This is something every radio enthusiast should have to test their equipment and understand how it is performing. It has a lot of functions packed into that small box for sure. It is plenty accurate as well according to your testing. Thanks for sharing Fred.

    YO - if you want to check your SWR on SIDEBAND - Simply use a tone generator. I literally pulled up a youtube video of a solid tone (i forget what hz), put my desk mic up to it, locked it down - and it kept the needle completely steady.

    Awesome little meter. ( for general 0.4 to 10 watt rigs & a bit more ) 😁 Is about 4 watts still the legal max limit on CB FM ( MUPPETS) or has ofcom let it be a bit more ( i.e 10 watts ) prob not but, had to ask. I Personally never was keen on A.M band it was just not right far, far too much TVI & other radio equipment was interfered with causing neigbours to have you reported & even have your equipment confiscated with a huge fine. Mind you that was in late 70's till about mid 80's AM was high ILLEGAL to be used then . i know i was there. 🙄😳 & is there a legal limit as to how big your antenna is alllowed to be without a mast or anything goes as long as it is extremely well secured & even grounded ( that's upto the radio operater i suppose) to ground it or not. I suppose it be very wise to do so than not to. I know kickers, burners , boots etc, etc whatever you call them are definetly illegal to use & yet almost every cb'r i use to know when i WAS on many years ago had quite some EXTRA POWER no less than 150 watts extra right upto 500 + NO wonder many others couldn't get out not even to a friend a few miles away. 😯😠👎 & the verbal abuse i heard was DISGUSTING!!!! ( what was known as BUCKET MOUTHING!!!) to some & myself caused me to TOTAL SHUT DOWN!!! & Not been on air since ( over 25 years prob more like 35 years unsure but a very long time since i went anywhere near a set up.

    • @CB-RADIO-UK

      Legal power in the UK is 4w FM AM and 12 W SSB.

    • @thestig8133
      @thestig8133 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@CB-RADIO-UK As i thought. Although i always thought or should say presumed that FM was only to be used in the UK legally. Anything else was illegal & if anyone except Ham users you was to be tracked down & heavily fined. & as far as i am aware of it is still that way to this day. Unless the law & radio authorities have changed things in the past 20 years or so. ( of which i doubt it has) . As i have already mentioned it has been a very long time since i went anywhere near a cb set up ( over 30 ) years YES!!!! a very long time to many almost a eternity. So, where i am i had nothing but, shear grief that's why i packed up. & wasn't going to return. But, i am still in doubt about it.

    • @CB-RADIO-UK
      @CB-RADIO-UK  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@thestig8133 Since the license was abolished back in 2006 hardly anyone has been fined. Have not heard of anyone at all on CB band. People use what they like nowadays. Back in 2014 things really (finally) opened up with SSB becoming legal on 11m. Finally you could communicate with all skip.

    • @thestig8133
      @thestig8133 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@CB-RADIO-UK As you know by now i went off the air over 30 years ago due to the huge amount of verbal abuse a few people was getting & i unfortunatly was one of them. & i did absolutely nothing to cause this. You wouldn't know this not being in my area at the time. So, you wouldn't know who was saying what to who & before you know it it went from one attacking a person to several. So, i said to myself that's it never again would i go near one. & yet many years later ( just a few months ago someone i heard about was going to throw out a small basic set up & in said i would take care of it. But, it has never been used in my hands. & i am not sure it will ever will. I was a muppet band user & occassionally on the SSB Both LSB & USB but, never used tge AM due to high radio interference with other radio & tv equipment with or without some extra power. But, it was all stolen when i was out at work one day amongst many other items. Which made me very upset & very angry aswell at the time. I do understand what you have said ( HOPEFULLY!!!🙄🤔). & as i have said i really just have no idea to go back on or not due to my recent ( well 30+ years ago) trouble with others. & some maybe still about. That is what has got me thinking about it. Besides i can't go back on anyway no swr meter & patch lead to tune the little antenna. & finance is very tight atm so. I am not bothered about it at the moment unless i find a cheap unit & it is nearby as travel is limited being disabled ( lack of mobility) Anyway i think i have said more than enough. Take care & i'll try to watch your videos as & when i can.
