The Klyne preamp was terribly UNDERRATED!

I agree. I have always liked its sound. The way the Klyne handles the upper frequencies has always been top notch.

I love that preamp! It looks a bit like my FM255 copy, but Im sure yours is way better!

Thanks so much. For a 40 year old preamp, the Klyne still has it. There are real bargains to be had out there with vintage components. Much of the new high end gear can be terribly expensive and out-of-reach price wise for many audiophiles and music lovers. But there are many top-notch vintage components that are still very competitive with new gear and much more affordable.

I am 64, Streaming is fantastic, I think if you played around a bit you might enjoy it. But it’s OK you do you.😊 I always like those speakers, but they need a lot of power

Thanks for commenting. Always appreciate other's opinions. I'm sure at some point I will try streaming. Something to consider in the future. My Orchard Audio amp has 500 watts into 4 ohms, so no problem with that. But, I have even powered these Thiels with a 40 watt NAD and it worked just fine. I think it was the Thiel CS 3.6 and up that were power hogs. I would love to upgrade to those, but it's very rare to see them available.

I had Klyne 6 preamp in my system ok preamp, lack dynamics , Replaced with Ayre K1xe preamp, system opened up huge sound stage bold thunderous
Textured tight Bass and tube like midrange, never look backed before Ayre K1xe I tried top 47 top notch
    Preamplifiers in my system !

I'm not familiar with the Klyne 6. That was probably the next generation after my SK-5A. Sounds like you have had many preamps in your system. What are you running now?

@RobChambon-xp3mf its was 6LE don't remember the version, still using Ayre K1xe, may not part from it , I use my system in true XLR fully Balanced connection, Moved on from RCA years ago .

I never went in for streaming either. Your Theils are just a year newer that my ADS 1230 speakers, purchased in 1983. I've kept them because I haven't heard anything that wows me enough to sell them and buy something else. My Quad 405 power amp and 410 Nakamichi pre-amp date from December 1977. Both have needed refurbishing, but they still get the job done with the highly efficient 1230s (94db). By the way, have you refurbished your speakers in any way such as recapping the cross-overs or "rehabbing" the drivers?

Thanks so much for commenting Mark. I came to the conclusion many years ago that it's simply impossible to keep up the latest and greatest tech advances in the audio world. My dad told me decades ago that very same thing, and he was right. My experience had told me that it's not about finding the supposed 'best' components. It's about putting together a system that works well together where each component compliments the other. I do still look for upgrades here and there, but like you, when I find a piece of gear that works well for me, I am very hesitant to replace it just for the sake of replacing it. The never-ending quest to have the very best is a trap I try to avoid. After all, this hobby is really all about the music and the joy it brings us.

@@RobChambon-xp3mf Yes, the holy grail of audio is a never ending quest. But, as they say about life, it's the journey that matters most.

HI Rob. Just 'Stumbled' on your 1st Video about 3 hours ago. I left a fairy long comment covering several 'topics'. I went back about 2 hours later to check for any replies and ... my comment had GONE ... ARRGGHH .... Anyway, I will leave said comments again but 'Spread them Over' your next 3 or 4 Uploads. Point 1 - Ref' the Mary Timony 'Tiger' CD, as soon as the music started I thought, That sounds 'Familiar'. And as soon as she started singing it 'Hit Me' ... Juliana Hatfield. Do U know her music ? ... Start with the albums ... 'Pussycat' & 'Weird' ... Hope U like. I haven't yet sussed out your musical preferences but I am getting the 'vibe' that U like 'Female' Vocals ! ? I will leave recommendations in future video's. Oh, and do U like Classical / Classical-Pop Cross-over music ? I have Sub'd. ATB with the Channel.

Hello Lucy! Yes, I do love female vocals. Some future videos of mine will feature several female vocals. I think that female performers and bands often times get overlooked. My channel is here to hopefully fill in some "holes" that I feel are musically necessary that other You Tubers are not addressing. In my CD collection, I have an entire section dedicated to female vocals with audiophile quality. Yes, I do agree that Mary Timony sounds a bit like Juliana Hatfield. I do have a couple of Juliana's CDS: Hey Babe, and Become What You Are. I will need to check out the two Juliana titles you suggested. I am always open to learning about new music from artists recommended to me, so thanks for that. That's another reason my channel exists. I have a wide variety of music interests. I have mostly rock & pop titles, but I also have jazz, classical, ambient, psyche, prog, and soundtracks too. I plan to recommend various titles in each of these genres in the future. Thanks so much for commenting Lucy. I look forward to your future recommendations.

Greetings! This is from the Black Man O.G. music loving audiophile! I've heard a few streamers and believe me the only thing you are missing is their convenience. Sonically you aren't missing nothing. Because of this people think they are better. To that I say a resounding hell no!! Vinyl, CD's, and Reels are their superior. A good analog tuner also, and their earbuds and Bluetooth speakers can't touch a high end audio system. I don't care what the music convenience listeners say.

Hey there William! Thanks for commenting. I have never streamed music at all. I don't even own a pair of headphones either. I had a pair of Koss headphones way back in the late 70's and early 80's, and none since then. Great speakers only since then. Do you have a You Tube channel of your own?

Hi fi gear has changed, but by how much, who can say? And, is the cost of upgrading worth it in most cases, I'd have to probably agree with you. Thanks for your opinion.
