Bikepacking the North Downs Way

We started in Farnham, one evening after work. The manager of the 'The Fox' pub was great and let us park our vehicle in his carpark. Getting back to the start from Dover was fairly straightforward. We went went by train via London, with one change at Waterloo. The route has obvious similarities to the South Downs Way. However it's longer, maybe less open and seemed to have fewer steep ascents and descents.

Hi. You're right. We sometimes forget what a varied, green country we have on our doorstep and as you say we don't have to worry about the critters. As for the hot days were getting used to them, even in Penistone!

Really enjoyed the content and especially the camping out. I am the same age and want to do the same as you. I also live at the foot of the South Downs on the cycle route ,, just building a tourer mountain bike in anticipation during Feb 24.

Good for you and there's loads of routes you can do near you. bikepacking.com is a good source of information. So is gravelmap.com I agree, there's nothing like getting away for a few days with a simple camp out. To be honest the 'running around back and forth' isn't as bad as you think once you get into the swing of it. I guess I made a decision, when making this vids, to inspire and not necessarily spoon feed. For me the planning is part of the pleasure. Perhaps it's my age!
