Chrissie Hynde is a legend!! Brilliant songwriter, vocalist , guitar player. She inspired my coming of age as a teenager in the 80’s my songwriting, and showed us young women that yes we can be rockstars and not groupies!!!
I feel lucky to have seen the original line up in central park in 1980. Climbed a huge tree and watched from up there. no real production just amps and the stage. Very cool time in music.
Been a fan since the 70's and met Chrissie at The Whiskey backstage at a Joan Jett gig. Loads of fun! Would love to see a show in the near future in person.
@@tripperdelaluna1 Letterman was rather uptight with Mr Van Vliet talking poetry ("War is a pimple on the Pope's pet dragon" etc) over DVV/Beefheart's two Late Night appearances. As well, not a word the Captain said of himself was true (as per usual)! Today the good Captain is "legendary" & "iconic" (two words that should be properly retired) but back in the day, he was mostly ignored, marginalized, or banned! (When Jean Doumanian took over SNL after Lorne Michaels departed, she drove the show into the ground, but her one redeeming achievement was featuring Captain Beefheart & The Magic Band as the musical guest). I've always been somewhat annoyed by Chrissie Hynde learning to play popular music conventionally, because those interesting songs in odd time signatures on the first Pretenders album vanished after success arrived. Don't get me wrong, she's still utterly stunning! (I said "somewhat annoyed").
CH. Leave out the political rhetoric. Just rock and play music, that's all what we/you are all about, you should know. Fuck the politicians. You rock girl. Just make rock. Your good at it.
Chrissie and Martin, from the cool that time forgot ❤ Popular recording artists today aren’t cool, they don’t know how to be cool, they don’t know what cool is, yet they all think they’re cool. Holding mobile phones in the air at a rock concert is not cool, it’s sad and pathetic. It’s people with damaged souls.
Used to do 9 to 12 rosaries a day. I feel we need to get Chrissie over to Grace Vanderwaal as fast as possible, the pop management have got their hands on her
I would love to see the Pretenders with Karen O singing the lead. Chrissie should continue as a solo artist. Her voice today just doesn't deserve the role she helped create lead singer.
Huh? Are you high? Who the hell would want to see the original lead singer replaced when they can still sing? lol. I thought her voice was spot on. I was surprised how good and accurate to the original recordings she sounded, especially since she's been a smoker for decades. This woman has always seemed hard core to me, suffering no fools. She scares me. haha But they're one of my favourite bands to this day, with so many good hits.
I'm sorry but you're just out of your mind. I've been going to see The Pretenders since the original lineup, and her voice is excellent now, and was then. Cra Cra.
Love this woman. Gigantic talent .
Chrissie Hynde...the real deal. Beautiful woman, beautiful voice, beautiful soul.
❤❤❤❤

This woman is just awesome. Talent and attitude.
She seems happier these days. As a long time fan I'm kind of glad to see it.
Rock Royalty, both of them :) Chrissie says it like she sees it, a true legend, I love it when I get to see them play!
love Chrissie!!!! been a fan since the 80's and my first Pretenders album still have it all the music is fresh nothing else like it!!!
Saw The Pretenders this year at Black Deer no Martin? Gone missing again.
I love her. 'All the shit rose the to the top, frankly.'
Said the woman who basically launched the MTV venue! The Pretenders had the heaviest rotation of any band, lol
@@stevestevensky are you confusing them with Whitesnake? 🤣
@@stevestevensky True, but they hated it. It's all part of the "Go Along Get Along Game."
I love these guys. Great drummer She's got a good soul...Rock and Roll is still an interesting trip.

Met Chrissie and Martin both separately and both were very nice and as cool as you'd expect
I think she's grown up a lot. One would hope so. Back in the day, not so much.
Love this gal and her band.
That first Pretenders is a cold classic!
What a woman , she has looks , opinions AND she plays guitar what more could anyone want ! .
I adore this woman.
Her music is off the chain ⛓
MTV and all the shit rose to the top. So true, Chrissie. Rock on!
I'm glad she said the shit rose to the top. We all know she meant hair metal.
Chrissie Hynde is at once down-to-earth and all class. One of my very singers of all time!
Great interview, I loved it 👍😍
She is amazing...really is...so true to herself and the muse...thx
Two of my favorite musicians here !!!
I stand by her!
I've admired Chrissie Hynde since I've been 16 and I still love her.
She's spitting "facts"... MTV changed everything... it wasn't about the artist anymore, it all about promoting risqué music videos
Been a fan since the 70's and met Chrissie at The Whiskey backstage at a Joan Jett gig. Loads of fun! Would love to see a show in the near future in person.
Interesting interview...Thank you!
What a cool lady of rock.❤
I love the Recycled Records T-shirt. I shopped there for years.
CH. You played at the Armadillo. I'm disappointed I didn't catch your show. Rock on CH.
i love everything she does
LPX is brand new not new new but she was the opening act and omg fell in love with her sound too.
Love Crissie
Bealtiful woman, bealtiful vocals
Love Martin, and of course Chrissie. Saw her a number of years ago in Baltimore and the sound system was really bad. But I still love her.
She's just so fuckin Kool....I love her
Just finished Reckless bio (audiobook reader Roseanne Arquette)and highly recommend it!
Wow...NOOOOO-ONE mentions Captain Beefheart.
Excellent
Backstage, having an Avacado on the half shell, just being Chrissie Hynde. Love her.
Rock on CH. Your amazing.
The vegan lifestyle suits her. She's in great shape!
Certainly does 🙂
Legend ❤️
Epic.....
Captain Beefheart did make a video, "Ice Cream For Crow" in 1982, & bloody MTV wouldn't play it!
Letterman had him on and showed a clip.

Chrissie just made wearing gold jewelry cool again.
Chrissie is right about MTV. Bands got worse since then.
so queen is not good???
Before MTV came along it was far less important what you look like than how good you sounded.
Love you Chrissie
Martin chambers rules
the interviewer is convinced that he knows everything about everything.
My thought exactly, Terry Likona is an egotistical putz.
Definitely harder for women in Rock&Roll.., No doubt…
Chrissie ❤️🌹😍💋💯🇲🇽👋🏻👋🏻👋🏻
In love
Been in love

Sounds like Kurt Loder interviewing.?
Probably all line-ups change after a span of 35 years - well except ZZ Top! R R R
There's also U2 and Radiohead.
CHRISSIE FUCKING HYNDE 🎸💔⚡⚡⚡
Used to do 9 to 12 rosaries a day. I feel we need to get Chrissie over to Grace Vanderwaal as fast as possible, the pop management have got their hands on her
Chrissie Hynde is willing to be herself. Is that authentic enough?
Chrissie on kyl kova.....
She swallow?
Rated tax "R."

If Chrissie and Siouxsie had a baby together it would be Karen O.
