      All this oral history was about to vanish. Nobody was efficiently and professionally recording this history even in the mid 2000s. Heavy Metal and Hard Rock, yes. Hip Hop? No! I wish we could have had video interviews of Phife Dawg, Guru, Big Pun, etc before they passed.

      I like to see all these guys talking shit. For the record on 55 years old from the Bronx. Let's start thinking about 1983 and 84, The Fat boys will always lyrical they rhymes was hard. But the fact is they were on the comical tip, playing up their weight. That was the gimmick of the group. But I'm a straight-up fan especially there lyrics there music bops your head. When I say gimmick I mean that was the hook of the group. Like digital underground had their own gimmick. Shit, NWA when they came out had their own gimmick, with the Jerry curls the whole La gang thing.

    Man the Fat Boys represented what hip hop and an MC was to me coming up in the 80s. I gotta give VLAD props on having one of favorite MCs of all time on the show. Buff was the greatest. It was all about carrying your radio around with you and having your cardboard close by in case someone challenged you dancing. That Dru Down remake song is hard as hell.

      Sounds good.., but what new or current artist is thinking " I should record with someone that came out 35-40 years before me? 🤔
      Also the style of hip hop is different, and even some of the people we rocked with" Might " come off as dated"

    • @theDavidChannel1
      @theDavidChannel1 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@billyjacc I'm not talking about new artists of today. Even artists in the 90s could have let an OG get on and spit a verse in a song. But it never happened. The closest I can think of is when Nas made 'Where Are They Now' but that wasn't until 2007
