- In the early 2000s, the robotics industry was shining with innovation and ambition. Among the pioneers was Rethink Robotics, a company that dared to redefine how robots and humans work together.
But despite its groundbreaking vision, Rethink Robotics ultimately failed. Today, we explore the timeline of this company's rise and fall, uncovering the critical lessons for startups in robotics.

Fantastic video! One of the big things I was taught early at University (it was a project class taught by a very good professor) was that you have to balance building "cool" things with "useful" things. Clearly Baxter was "cool" but not actually practical for robust industry use.
Sipped some morning coffee over this. Great video 👍
I really enjoyed the content you provided-such interesting insights! I agree about the audio and sound effects issue, but I loved the video overall. Looking forward to your next one with improved audio! 😉
If you're going to have those pop sounds in there please make them quieter than the main speaker. But seriously consider not having those they're very cartoon and kid like. Other than that great and interesting video would like to see more analyses of robot companies.
Thanks a lot for your feedback. Consider it applied on the next one!!! Thank you, thank you, thank you.
Do not hesitate to provide more constructive criticism like this, Ricardo loves it in order to improve.
(Just for your eyes: next one is Zume 🤭)
The analysis is spot-on, it is very instructive. I'd humbly suggest to improve on the video outlook though. No need of pop sounds, no need of fancy background. A black (or some simple theme) background with you stably visible with stable voice would be much better.
Thank you so much for your feedback! Really appreciated. I'll apply your suggestions on the new video which is on its way (about Zume, shhhh! it's a secret ;-)
very interesting video and analysis, i enjoy this content. The audio here as in some of the podcasts needs to be edited to bring the noise levels to a somewhat similar baseline, i need to change the audio while watching this video due to the changes in volume
Sorry it was my mistake about the audio. I promise to do the audio leveling on the next video. Thanks for the feedback!!!
Would a robot cook, like moley robotics be a good start up idea now? what do you think? I am working on a kitchen automation robot using machine learning, vision recognition.
funny the first 2 robots you reviewed came from the same MIT robotics lab (Breazeal was a student or Brooks).
Please fix the sound issue
Got it thanks!
Very interesting topic and analysis!
Great series, what about the startups that succeeded ?
That is a very good suggestion!!! Let us organize this...
guy in blue should be louder
Ha ha ha, that's me! Ok, I'll improve this on the next one
The audio sucks
Got it thanks!
❤
Ok
