    I remember in the early 80's, watching a Panorama programme on TV saying computers would be doing all the work and we would now be enjoying a life of leisure! That went well, didn't it? The government set up Inmos in response, so we wouldn't get left behind with these new fangled silicon chips.
    I've read and watched the the AI predictions for the future, of how everyone will be unemployed, and it's not a great scenario for us humble humans. I can't imagine what it will be like for children growing up when being asked 'what do you want to be when you grow up', and they have no answer. 'Dunno. Computer says no'.
    I saw an interview on TV a while ago with some tech expert getting very animated about the possibilities of AI, and while I'm sure it all made perfect sense in his head, I couldn't stop myself from thinking it's a very dystopian future, and completely at odds with our basic needs and wants as people. They haven't asked us if it's the future we want, have they?

      I remember similar programmes - Tomorrow's World was a favourite. What they forgot to say was that computers would also be creating "art" so there's nothing there for you either. A life of leisure sounds great on the surface until you realise there's nothing left to achieve that a machine can't do better. The good news is that at the moment it's nowhere near good enough to replace people. The bad news is that the money people still need to work that out before it's too late. It's definitely more dystopian that the Jetsons or Star Trek led us to believe.

    What a fascinating video Mr Calm. Thank you so much for your your boundless knowledge and wisdom on this subject.
    What I have learnt today is that the best way to dry off my bike after its yearly wash is to ride it. Who knew ??
    Was there anything else you wanted to say ?? Sorry, I paused the video and went and washed my bike and we all now know what that then means !!

      You didn't miss anything. I'd rather be riding than listening to me drone on. Makes me question why I drone on while I ride! 😀

    Thinks 🤔 ❓ how ever have I survived till my late 50's only using a biro and a dairy not one day at work with any tech its all come into my life since retirement I've learned to use some of it and it does help but I definitely fear it as well fun way to dry the bike .

      I started doing computer things in 1981 as a 10 year old so I've grown up with it and been fascinated. Recently it's becoming less about real utility and more about hype though. The number of questions I get about it because I'm in the industry!

    Technology is amazing. I get so many emails at work offering the same sort of stuff. They all go in the recycle bin. The world is certainly changing, 😎

    Good rant and all true... we don't need any of it... it is just rich people wanting to be richer by making us poorer and dumber.

      I think you're right. The scary part is that a lot of it seems to be to bump share prices and there's a potentially huge AI bubble now. It could be a big hit for pensions.

    The smartphone/internet is the best and worst thing to happen. Smart devices aren’t always smart. I only got a ring doorbell a quick and easy but what is also annoying is everything is riddled with subscriptions

      Ah yes, subscriptions. Another one I could rant about for days 😀

    It seems that bike theft is a big thing over there in the UK. It's not something I even think of here in New Zealand - maybe just the region I live in, although back in the 90s when I lived in Amersham (Bucks) I never thought that my bike could get stolen (& it never was ;)

      It really is a big problem indeed. I am paranoid if I leave my bike and always very relieved when it's still there when I get back. I won't leave it out of sight in a city. They have started using battery grinders to remove locks and an accomplice with a hammer or knife to make sure nobody stops them from stealing it 😞

    Interesting subject, I think what you are looking for is an AI parrot to sit on your shoulder and keep an eye out for what food you need and then can order you some sesame seeds when required. Problem solved.

    • @CalmBiker
      @CalmBiker  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I have a budgie that does the sitting but the only food word he says is "almonds". Cupboards are full of them now 😀

    AI fridge/freezer ? If I want to know what food I have in, I go and physically look. I check the use by date labels, decide what dinner is going to be that day and sometimes write a reminder note for the following days meals. I think it is called USING YOUR INTELLIGENCE. AI, what a load of B******S. I like your excuse for a bike ride. 👍👍

      @CalmBiker  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I don't need AI to tell me to ride 😀
