Rang the AD and got put on the list. 3 days later got the call, picked up my Explorer 214270 yesterday. I was expecting to wait ages! Can't stop looking at it. I now have a collection of two watches, my Omega Speedmaster and the Rolex Explorer. Love them both.
i love how simple and versatile this watch is, really an every day watch. i think it will be more in demand in the following years, when people will have enough of sub's and gmt's
Indeed it is, something about its simplicity that is attractive, I think the explorer will see incremental increase in price, it’s one of the steady ones. :)
Great video. I just ordered mine. It’s coming sometime this week. I had a Tudor 36mm that I used for a while. Switched to a black bay 58. Now I’m parting with it for this. I feel that this might be the watch that stays with me for a long time
@@kenn82draw I have sold it. Not because I didn’t like it. More financial reasons. But I love it and would definitely get another. There are 2 watches that I absolutely love during my watch collecting time. The Rolex explorer 39mm and the omega speedmaster
@@ruben619448 I'm sorry to hear that and I hope you're able to get it again in the near future. I'm seriously considering trading in 2 of my watches and paying the difference for it.
Great video bro, it definitely meets everything you were looking for when you bought it & when i saw the Explorer in person it made a lot more sense vs just in pictures. Keep enjoying it :)
Perfect video for me, I’m waiting for the ADs to open as it’s my 40th in July and I was stuck between the sub(no date) and Explorer as to what I’d get. Now leaning towards the Explorer as I have a Sinn 104abe which has a bezel and 200m water resistance and also a speedmaster panda dial (Mitsukoshi) so I think the Explorer would become a great everyday watch. My hope is to pretty much wear it every day and it’s great to see you haven’t got bored of yours- that was my main concern with the Explorer, that I’d get bored of the plain 3 hander
I just realized that you’ve seen the video but have responded to your older comment providing the link :) The explorer is a great watch, justifies the price point and accessible from authored dealers (your do a one month wait at most) I don’t regret it and I think you’ll like it, a good combo with your Sinn104abe.
Good call, surely you’ll get the call very soon. :) as of now it shouldn’t take long (about a month at most) but who knows what can happen later. Keep me posted and glad you’ve enjoyed the video
After a long time looking for the perfect all around watch I picked up this baby at an AD yesterday. This is everything I hoped for and more. It’s just perfect
Makes the two of us, if it came down to one watch I’ll be the explorer for me, the brushed oyster bracelet in my opinion is far better than the polished center links on the Daytona it the jubilee on the new GMT’s, no guilt wearing it whatsoever. :)
@@theblackbayexplorer5026 The only moment I take it off is to go to the gym - otherwise it doesn't leave my wrist during the rest of the day or the night... :)
feel the same way as you do Explore 1 is just gorgeous in its own way no matter what else expensive watches you have Mine just arrived AD and can't wait to pick it up
Can you please do a video of how and when do you rotate wearing your collection of watches? How often, which occasions? I have a Daytona C, BLNR, and Explorer 39mm, but the BLNR is on my wrist like 99.9% of the time. I don't know why I can't seem to feel comfortable to rotate it with my other watches.
Nice video. I have the same watch - 39mm. I’m realizing it’s probably not the watch for me though and might sell it. Being a bigger guy (6.2, 200 pounds), it just looks a bit small on my 7 inch wrist / lacks presence. 41 seems to be the sweet spot me - loving a Tudor GMT Pepsi right now.
Hey guys a quick one for the Rolex Explorer, just my experience a year later. If you are an explorer fan let me know what you think.

I have owned mine for 9 months. It ticks all my boxes and I can’t ever see myself selling it. A beautiful, simple and elegant watch.
Totally agree with you

Indeed bro, thank you for the support, it’s a love story with this watch. :) Looking forward to collaborating once again :)
I’ve collected mine from the AD last week, here in Sydney. Couldn’t be happier and this video confirms all I was thinking...thank you.
Congratulations Darren :)

I got on the list at my local A.D. now I’m just waiting for the call.its my retirement gift to myself! Can’t wait. Thanks for the video.

Watch Society a month? I have hunted at 6 ADs in 4 states since last July. This is one hard watch to get.
Beautiful and I am even happier now that the new 124270 is released
Enjoying your videos, look forward to more!

How long did you have to wait?
Started off thinking this was just too simple a piece to shell out on. It’s growing on me though. Great vid👍
Great video of a great watch ! I’ve had mine for more than 2 years now and can’t stop wearing it ! It’s a truly bewitching watch!

I’m at 8 months now and feel the same. It’s amazing. What activities would you NOT wear the Explorer for?

Hey, good going on the collection, can possibly cover a segment on rotation, sure why not :)
@@WatchSociety thank you
My pleasure
Great video 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻. Great piece!
Many thanks T L indeed it’s a great piece
I first bought my Explorer and the following year a Sub. Have fun wearing both of them. 👍
whar s better as only rolex explorer 1 or a no date sub
Both are good in different ways, if you want simple the Explorer is the way to go.
I have both. Explorer all day long
I really want a red rubber b now, looks 🔥
Me too. 👍

I truly believe the Explorer 1 is the perfect sportswatch, if only it was a few thousand cheaper. €6k and €7k secondary is too much for it
Indeed it is, 6.5k is actually the retail price now and not secondary market. If you get a chance to pick one up brand new, I highly recommend it :)
Watch Society in euro’s its less than 6,5 but equals to about the same after currency adjustment 😉
Love my explorer mk1.
Bro help me get one, been waiting 3 months already with local AD.
Top vid btw!!
The only sole 39 mm sports watch.
Mark 2 is too much flashy, I prefer mark1
