      Because they sometimes ring it with 2 people so they put another tail end in and the sally is large so that the second person (called a "strapper") can get a grip

      @@AshleyMonck Why isn't St.Pauls Cathedral's tenor sally longer then? I've seen it being strapped more than not. Same thing for Liverpool Cathedral.

      Tuatara _77 I think nowadays it is rung without a strapper more often. It could just be because it isn’t as big of a bell as Liverpool or Exeter. Am happily to be corrected though
