Prank on David Jaffe

- So out of all the title's David has worked on, Twisted Metal III is his least favorite.
So of course Jon and Kristen came up with the BRILLIANT Idea of asking David to sign Jon's copy of Twisted Metal III.
Insanity ensues.

A prank only Twisted Metal fans would get!
only Jaffe would turn such a small prank into such a large learning moment for everybody
This is cool. I like that he understands what happened and just doesn't dismiss it.
I really love to hear the creators thoughts on games once been released for years, and its such a good work environment you guys have.
Joseph James Especially developers of the games you've loved since you started gaming and even more so when they're more small-scaled and never really heard of by the general (gaming) public.
I love all Twisted Metals, but have to credit 3 for getting me into the series. As a kid, I didn't know about David being the original games creator or that 989 weren't the real devs- I just played what was right in front of me and loved the characters and car combat gameplay. Then when 4 came out I thought it was a total upgrade and was excited about a new roster to play with. I just thought it was like a new season of contestants and they fought old contestants as bosses and stuff, I really digged it and knew I wanted more.
So then I became so interested in the series, I went back to check out the original source material and got TM 1 and 2- that is when I realized how much the characters mean to me and I wanted to delve into the lore even more. So after playing 3 and 4 and then comparing them with the stories and interesting characters from TM 1 and 2 - I see why there is such a following for David Jaffe and why some people are "purists" about the series and only acknowledge the TM games he was involved in.
(I mean seriously, the first time I saw Twisted Metal Black- it stunned me, i scrolled through the character select screen and can't even explain how I felt. I sat in bed that night just thinking about how I just saw the "real" version of those characters. They had finally come to life - that's the magic of Jaffe and his version of Twisted Metal)
I now look at 3 and 4 as just non-canonical and as Jaffe says in the video - they just played to the surface of Twisted Metal. I just have too much nostalgia tied to 3 and even 4 bash to them- I just accept the stories are throw away and the real stories are in David's games.
From then on, I collected every Twisted Metal and enjoy each greatly, there is something I love in each game.
I absolutely love the series and hope that a new one comes to PS4 and that of course, David Jaffe is involved.
On a side note*
I really liked TM 2012 ( a great blend of what I liked about Black and TM 2- realism with a sense of comic) but wasn't a big fan of the "factions" - I would prefer each character staying unique and tied to their own vehicle with their own story. That's one thing I love about the series, each person having their own strengths and weaknesses and their special move to define them (something i look forward to in Drawn to Death) I mean, TM 2012 had that, but it was weird to see a Sweet Tooth looking character driving around Axel. Like, if you want to use Axel - you need to BE Axel.
Thanks if you actually read this, Drawn to Death looks fantastic!
TM 3 was a video in my demo CD that comes with my playstation, and has an awesome picture on the back of the box of console. Along with Metal Gear, and Crash (both come playble in my demo cd), was the first games that I follow after! Soon I got TM 1, 2, and 3. The 1 was crude, the two has the best level experience, but I REALLY "feel" into the 3, more than 20 years later, and I can see myself throwing the special attack, shooting missiles, turning around my foes...
And the next games was too much dark, in a way that make me feel bad after play, and not happy!
I think that what Jeff calls a problem in 3, I find a virtue! It's just a fun game, enough for kids, and for the ones who doesn't like going too far on the "dark side".
TM 2012, is, ironically, what David Jaffe thinks of TM3 & TM4: It's not a bad game, it's just bad Twisted Metal game.
I feel pretty much the same as you

"The problem is... it will call into question my judgement in hiring you, because... clearly, you are a fool." HAHA that sounds like something I would have said.
This 100% feels like watching Gabbin & Games
Man I miss the time when Jaffe was still making games.
I thought he made a lot more games, but if you look at his credits he only made about a dozen or so, and most of those were Twisted Metal or God of War
@@NGDemonSlayer12 A dozen is a lot, especially considering that he retired relatively early. These days that's much harder to do in the AAA industry, because development cycles have become ridiculously long.
Jaffe is a national treasure
Rogue Trip: Vacation 2012 is really the true Twisted Metal III
Twisted Metal: Head On is the real TMIII in my opinion
I completely disagree! Just because most of the original team worked on Rouge Trip, doesn't mean it's more true than the original TM3 we got. It shares nothing in common storywise with the TM franchise. And hardly anything else conceptually other than the fact that it's car combat...
who holds the license Rogue Trip Vacation 2012 now?!
@@coconuts5792 I believe it would be Atari. As they bought GT interactive in the late '90s.
Evan Nixon the original TM3 we got wasn’t even true to what TM is. Sweet Tooth isn’t a fucking clown that wants candy and ice cream. He’s can anything and everything he wants, but in the first game he wants a fucking paper bag because he thinks it’s his best friend. In the second game he wants to be a big so he can murder people as a bug. Candy and ice cream? No.

Thanks, I'll let David know. I don't think David realizes why people like his opinions so much. -Kristen
Such a wholesome guy Mr. Jaffe
that's so awesome to hear from the creator of the series discuss a title that he didn't work on just to gain that insight into what he felt about it. Having fun with the Drawn to Death beta. Keep up the great work! Hopefully TM(2012) gets a follow up in the future, especially where the story ends up from that game.
Coming here after watching some Jaffe streams in 2021 ~ great stuff! hahaha
Lol that's a different reaction from what I was expecting. Fucking awsome how a small prank just trying to get a rise out of Jaffe lead to that long conversation about the series and TM3 etc.
That's not a conversation lol it's a trademark Jaffe ramble
I think this is great, David Jaffe is one of my all-time favourite game producers and Twisted Metal was the first game series I ever really played and the first TM game I played was TM1! I know this video is a few years old but I'd love to meet David Jaffe!
In one Point I give Jaffe right. The Stories of TM3 is not Twisted Metal,s Spirit. But Twisted Metal 3-4 had the BEST Gameplay and AI. It feels really a contest against all. And not Like TMB or TM2012 the AI is only targeting you. Anyway TMB is a Masterpiece. I HAVE THE COMPLETE SERIES. and Played all of them. And I grow up with TM3 and TMB. Every Twisted Metal Game is Awesome even Twisted Metal Small Brawl.
So youtube decided to put this video on my dashboard 7 years later.
Great.
He should've gone with TM4. It would've pissed him straight off lmfao.
the opening was really cool and creative you gotta admit
"What is this?, ST like a Carny Barker with neon purple pants!" Jaffe
I grew up with and still to this day love TM2 and TM3. Lots of nostalgia for both games. :)
Jaffe rules and I get why Twisted Metal 3 is considered a "bad Twisted Metal game" but I think Twisted Metal 3 is really my second favorite (after Head On)
8 month turnaround for a game is insane. especially if you have loyal fans with their own expectations
tm black was the best...
Very true
Psssst...head...on...
@@conagher1 head on was good
Nope, im actually playing it rn and its a pretty bad game. Ps3TM is the best one
the best from the ones you know...? Tm2 was the best. it is Just an explosion on great ideas. You see the passion in it. Black is blury and ugly. calipso don't have His harm. In TM2 you can Fall of from glacier, destroy Eiffle Tower, figt on lava River... Black has only chaotic gameplay and flat arenas.
Twisted Metal 3 sold great because everyone who bought it was expecting a legitimate sequel to Twisted Metal 2, and then were summarily crushed when they were assailed by the trash that was pouring out of their Playstation once they booted up the TM3 disc.
not me twisted metal 3 was my favorite on ps1 and i had the first two before getting 3.
CUZC0M same here. TM3 was my favorite on ps1
@@CUZC0M I liked 3 but personally my favorite is 4 and Black's a close second.
@@CUZC0M same but my favorite was 2 but 3 was right up there. Loved head on as well
Yep Brand Recognition
I Like Twisted Metal 3 and 4 except for the endings. I wish they can Remake the endings to match up the story line of Twisted Metal 2. Especially Endings of Sweet Tooth, Dark Tooth, Minion, Roadkill, Axel, and most of all Outlaw. I so desperately wanted to find out what will happen in Twisted Metal 3 with Outlaws Characters of the brother and sister. Remember that Calypso tossed the first Outlaw (The Brother) into Outer space and then the second Outlaw (The Sister) into Space in the second game. In the 3rd game I wanted to see what would happen if the brother and sister would get revenge on calypso. Instead they ended up on unemployment with no mentioning of being sent and trapped into outerspace. At least in TM Head on there was a some what satisfying ending for outlaw.
I loved the opening of TM4 would love a spinoff with the western frontier theme
Very nice Jon, love it
Twisted Metal 3 had 4 player multiplayer that we played for hours and hours
That was beautiful. I still have a grudge against Twisted Metal III for it's god awful stories, and not being able to use Darkside. Honestly, Twisted Metal 2 is the best PSX game. Anyways, I'd rather have Jaffe sign Twisted Metal: Black. THAT is his greatest game.
you said it man
I have a soft spot for TM4, there i said it! It's not GREAT---- but it's not Twisted Metal 3.
I really did liked the North Pole level.
Captienkack I hated it with the respawning enemies. Only prepared you for Blimp hell though.
One of the only decent lvls. Egypt is solid
Omg David jaffe wasn’t playin XD
Everyone I talked to that said they played a Twisted Metal said they played Twisted Metal III and not the ones before. Going back the cutscenes, themes, and 3d models were shit and I absolutely hated the delay to flip your car over especially since flipping over happened quiet often though it was alright. Twisted Metal 4 was my personal favorite for a long time due to its scale, amazing soundtrack, handling, and doing an instant flip over. When Head On came out though, the handling and visuals were perfection to me (minus the PS2 port that felt so poorly done and cheap.)
I liked Extra Twisted Edition tho. They cleaned up the graphics & the extras r cool
Best response ever!!! You tried to prank me now I prank you!!
Clearly… Jon's a fool. :P
what engine use project?
Laughed my ass off
Ohhh Havoc…. Thanks for enjoying our videos.
This video is great lol
I grew up on twisted metal 2... That was my first MLG.. lol... But seriously tho, it was serious
Jaffe with hair lmaooo
He's a character..
Do not judge me... But these are by far my favorit twisted metal games:
1._ Twisted metal 4 (Funniest Gameplay)
2._ Twisted metal Head on (The Best twisted metal 2 version)
3._ Twisted metal Black (Best characters, Best design, Best plot )
Thanks for Watching!
id love to join the team someday be a honor to work under you
What a twisted joke!
Can someone please go to his official channel and ask him why he blocked me???
😂 GG + GG + GG 😂
when not geeks
Twisted 3 was hot garbage. I don't know if I have had my expectations for a game sequel shattered more strongly than when I went from 2 to 3. I have so any fond memories of Twisted 1 and 2. The only thing I remember about 3 is that the cars handled like floaty pieces of shit and Sony had a hard on for Rob Zombie.
😂😂😂😂
all the endings in part 3 suck ass "AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH"
How did you get the name for your company ????
Lmao.
I love all of them except Twisted Metal (PS3).
Riskbreakerslayer I liked the PS3 version
@@raidenakajacktheripper5988 Me too. My favorite besides Head On
twisted metal 3 has some good gameplay. The weapons are cool, and the music kicks ass. HOWEVER, The story, the characters, the vehicles, everything was wrong. All the twisted metals made by Jaffe and his team are infinitely better than twisted metal 3 and 4. I have bought Twisted metal, but I haven't played it yet. I just bought it to support the franchise. I don't have a PS3 or 4. If they make TM 2 remake, I will buy a ps... whatever and the game. Jaffe I have twisted metal black, head on, twisted metal, twisted metal 2, twisted metal 1, twisted metal 3, twisted metal 4, and small brawl. I have them all. You can count on me. I will buy my twisted metal. Its dark, hard core, Rock n roll, and the characters are so brutally bad in a good way.
4 played very well too, but just like 3 bad story, characters, and character models. I own them all too, hardly played Black, but I can tell you after getting Twisted Metal and a PS3 to play it that the game is frustrating. Vehicles handle well but ai swarm, spam shield and freeze, hit you through walls, and one-hit snipe you in a fraction of a second (while you have to maintain a lock on for atleast 5-7 seconds if you keep your car still.) And don't even get me started on how you get tossed around and carried away by everything in the game. On lower difficulties it's fine and really fun, highest it's frustrating and bullshit.
AI is hurting twisted metal. Twisted metal 3 had better AI. Vehicles would attack each other. They would fight, but when a vehicle was low on health they AI would try to find you and let the other vehicle escape. The AI would also pick on low health vehicles, especially if you were chasing them. If you were low on health every motherfucker would try to finish you. They would go for health packs. In twisted metal black, vehicles try to collide with you all the time even small vehicles. They always try to get behind you. If you are a descent player there is not problem, but for new people this could be a turn off. Let the vehicles fight each other, and bring back after burn and penalties for crashing into big vehicles and walls. This is why I love twisted metal 3 napalm, mortar, Rain, and my favorite weapon speed missiles. Don't concentrate too much on game-modes. The game needs better AI and better weapons. Pl Z NO MORE TRANSFORMERS BULLSHIT. bring back all the characters. WTF is twisted metal final fantasy now. Come on with this bosses. Bosses don't need to be big. How about bringing back legends from twisted metal 2. How about building bosses battles by allowing bosses to participate in a match, so players can see how powerful they are. What I would like to see is a boss like minion fighting all of vehicles. You and the AI fighting together to beat minion. WTF happened to the voice actor from twisted metal 2? That's the best calypso ever. That's Calypso's real voice. Twisted metal 3 and its cheesy ass lines and stories kill the guy's carrier or what. That's some serious voice actor. Too bad twisted metal 3 had no story. The guy literally says, Your wish is granted , thank you for playing. Come on with this shit. Bring back calypso's real voice.
TM2 has cool warthog. Why have you change it to stupid kombi?
TM3 added good mechanics but the maps suck. TM4 is arguably the best one... YEAH I SAID IT.
The maps do suck overall, TM 4 was an improvement, but not "real" TM
I have to be honest Twisted Metal 3 is actually my favorite.
it was the first one I owned but I got too play tm2 at a friends house and wanted the game. TMB is by far my favorite as I am a horror fan and well the dark theme was great for the game
Wait, Jaffe burned his Dixie Chicks albums?
TM3 was cringe but not gonna lie the driving was pretty smooth if I remember correctly
Fail.
In my opinion, after the new Twisted Metal, Jaffe lost all his rights to bash on 3 and 4. The way Dollface gets her mask on and the fact that it's Krista fucking Sparks is Sweet Tooth wishing for all the candy in the world levels of stupid.
Lupus Ex Machina I love the vehicle handling of the new one and of course visuals, but I absolutely hate the physics and ai of the new game. Everything tosses you around, ai swarm you and trail you too perfectly, ai spams freeze and shield seemingly more than you're allowed to, and ai can not only shoot through walls, buildings, etc. but can one-hit kill snipe under circumstances that don't even meet what you have to do for yours.
As for story, Grimm and Dollface just felt like garbage filler that wasn't even interesting. Going back to singular, individual characters with their own stories is the heart that went behind each vehicle and that needs to be brought back if they make another.
I'm sorry but that guy should of been fired everyone knows twisted metal 1, 2, black, head on, and even 2012 were better than those trash games 3 and 4 lol
Exactly
@@wallaceshawn-zk8iw I will remember this comment wallace
@@VicariousNickk That's fine. The guy is entitled to his opinion. TM4 is good but 3 is polarizing. Besides I ain't THAT serious lol
3 and 4 sucked!
Everyone has a opinion, you know.
I don't wanna sound mean to other people, cuz we all have our opinions, but I f*cking hated T.M. III! Sorry, I just had to let that out.
It's cool. It's not a real TM game... I liked very few things about it...
