when trying to download the metadata from connected app page I'm not able to download it , its showing below text Data Not Available The data you were trying to access could not be found. It may be due to another user deleting the data or a system error. If you know the data is not deleted but cannot access it, please look at our support page. How to solve this or how can I download the correct IdP metadata?
interesting, damn . I just tested it on my Salesforce Instance and was able to download the xml just fine, could it be a permissions issue on your side?
@@alexeski6055 I’m using the administrator profile and it’s having permissions including Manage connected apps and all the access inside the connected App Access section . Also tried with another browser still the same .Is there any alternative way to download correct IdP Metadata?
@@developerdrogo I'm not that familiar with the salesforce pages, maybe go via Salesforce support and ask why it's "crashing" and aternatives? By the way, do you really have to use SAML? You could implement SSO nowadays with this option, it's way easier/seamless: help.tableau.com/current/online/en-us/lwc_seamless_auth.htm
if a new user is created in salesforce, does this immediately propagate to tableau online? IE: would they be able to see a tableau dashboard via Saml without any manual steps necessary on tableau server to add that user?
Hi Pedro. No, the user must indeed be provisioned on the Tableau environment as well. The username in Tableau must match the "claim attribute" sent during the SAML dance, usually that's the email of the user in Salesforce (this is configurable on the Tableau side after you load the SF Identity metadata, you can choose the claim attribute Tableau needs to use). For provisioning users in Tableau, you can either do it manually or programatically via Rest API.
@@alexeski6055 Great video! I have a question. Do users who access embedded Tableau views in Salesforce, such as in a community or experience site, need a Tableau license? Or is it enough to just add the users to Tableau? Thanks.
@@jonathangrosso7732hi there, thanks! Check the new LWC with seamless authentication, so you can skip saml altogether (way easier to setup sso). In any case, users still need to exist (i.e. be explicitly provisioned) in Tableau Server/Cloud . Server/Cloud costs money, there's no free option. But there are different license types, even usage based options (inexpensive to start)
Thanks man, helped me a lot!
amazing stuff! :)
