    As a full-frame Sony mirrorless stills (and very occasional video) shooter and closet Fuji-lover I don't really need to watch this Tube! However, the quality and engaging nature of your videos rivals that of some of my favourite presenters, like Gordon Laing, Dave Dugdale, Philip Bloom and Gary Friedman, and persuaded me to hit that Subscribe button. I just wanted to let you know how much your efforts are appreciated :)

      That's very kind of you to say, thanks so much for subscribing and taking the time to comment. It's 2017, there's no longer any need to go into the closet for any of your personal preferences. Let your Fuji (or whatever) flag fly!

    THANK YOUOUOUOUOUOUOU SOOOOO MUCH, MR MAARTEN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
    YOU ARE SO HELPFUL AND TO THE POINT AS ALWAYS.
    SIMPLE AND CLEAR INFORMATION THAT YOU CAN EASILY FOLLOW.
    THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR TAKING THE TIME TO DO THIS VIDEO.
    I WILL CERTAINLY WATCH IT MORE THAN TWICE! AND YOU ARE RIGHT ABOUT THE BATTERY ALSO. AND I FOUND SOMEWHERE A VIDEO ABOUT THE 'DARK BARS' UNDER CERTAIN KIND OF LIGHT WHEN USING MECHANICAL SHUTTER (IF I REMEMBER CORRECTLY), SOMETHING THAT I ASKED YOU IN THE PAST ABOUT. ANYWAY THANK YOU AGAIN AND HOPEFULLY MANY PEOPLE WILL WATCH AND WHOEVER DOES WILL CERTAINLY FIND THIS USEFUL!

    • @MaartenHeilbron
      @MaartenHeilbron  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Whoa! Your caps lock key got stuck - I knew you'd be pleased, but not this much. In video the shutter is always electronic. Those bars occur when the frequency of the lighting interacts with the shutter and/or frame rate.

    • @beltenebrosgr1904
      @beltenebrosgr1904 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Well, it was justifiably stuck, Mr Maarten! I really was pleasantly surprised and I honestly hope that other people will agree on the quality and way you "enlighten" us.
      Please allow me two questions.
      1)Do you believe that at some point we will be able to record video in both cards, as can be chosen with photos? and
      2)Do you believe that we might have a choice of 100fps or even more in 1080p on the Xt-2.
      Is this something that has to do with hardware limitations, quality standards,possible problems, "stategy" marketing...
      Thank you again Mr Marteen.

    • @MaartenHeilbron
      @MaartenHeilbron  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      You are allowed as many questions as you can muster.
      1) It's hard to tell what the limitation might be - but I assume it's a data pipeline issue - sending that much data to two cards might be more bandwidth than the system can accommodate. Or it could be overheating that's the issue. While clearly, this would be nice to have, it seems unlikely.
      2) That should be possible, unless there's a data reading issue from the sensor - and it can't deliver 100-120fps.
      I doubt that it's strategy, there's a limitation either in the hardware or in the firmware budget and/or development timeline.

      Not a problem.
      I have a question, is it possible to change the rear dial to adjust ISO values?
      Currently the when turned left or right the rear dial adjusts the shutter value and when depressed activates the digital zoom for focus checking.
      The reason I ask is whilst using the Fujifilm XT2 camera for handheld video I normally have my hand underneath the barrel of the lens and to change the the ISO with my current setup I have to switch my hands around to adjust introducing camera wobble.
      Thanks in advance.

    • @MaartenHeilbron
      @MaartenHeilbron  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      I agree, that would be a nice feature to have - I'll pass that along to my contacts. Currently the rear dial can't be customized on the X-T2.

    I need to check if the t2 and app combo will now record the external mic sound ... the older bodies with external connected, and when triggered via the app, would revert back to the internal mic and fujifilm had no answer. Shame as I use an external mic for recording and the app would make it a lot more viable for vlog style shooting. The T2 tracks me nicely and looks good.
    Great vid.

      The on camera LED light is: bhpho.to/2jZYuNg

      Although I have several Manfrotto tripods, for video I use: bhpho.to/2oHOGcR

    Many thanks for the well made and informative video. Just a quick question about turning the exposure compensation to 'C'. Why do you need to do that? Best wishes, Jason.

    • @MaartenHeilbron
      @MaartenHeilbron  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      I appreciate the kind words, and the tough question. I'm in the habit of using C as it both extends the range and (sort of) disables EV adjustmentments, as in C it's very obvious when it's bumped accidentally. Of course, in full manual mode (as I'm describing in the video) it has no function. And then I didn't mention it for situations when it might be worth using AutoISO.

    Hi Maarten, what a great informative video as always. I just have one confusion in video setting. What is the difference between movie AF mode MULTI and AREA ? When should I choose multi mode and when should I choose area mode ? I dont really see the different especially in continuous AF. Thanks !!

    • @MaartenHeilbron
      @MaartenHeilbron  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It's very kind of you to post your comments, thank you. The AF settings in video mode are different from stills. In video mode, if you want to select the continuous focus point (and there are fewer of them, and only one size) use AREA. MULTI is the auto continuous focus mode. With area, the cursor can move the focus point, with multi, there is no focus point to move.

    Thank you for the educational video however like to comment on the battery grip. You made an interesting comment about how the camera shuts down when the battery level in one of them shows red. A known problem with Fujifilm is sometimes the batteries in the grip will show completely depleted even though they're fully charged. The only way to get it to show charged again is to open up the battery compartment pull out the battery tray and insert it back in then they show fully charged again.

    • @MaartenHeilbron
      @MaartenHeilbron  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I appreciate the kind words, thanks. Just to clarify - the camera doesn't shut down when one of the batteries expires, it just stops recording video. If you're shooting stills you won't even notice. The issue that you mention is not one I've encountered - but I'm happy to hear you have a solution, even if it's not pretty.

    Another question I have for you dear Maarten is about the infamous grid artefacts found in purple flare a lot of owners of XTrans II & III sensor based cameras talks about. Is it a problem in 4K or FHD video mode ? I guess these artefacts are lost within the downsampling and processing of the h264 compression but I can't find the answer on the web. If you have a though about this matter, I'll be more than happy to hear it. Thanks again

    Hello Maarten, Very detailed video! I am planning to do a whole photo/video project with this camera andI have a question in regards of audio. I know that XT2 has an auto audio limiter and changes automatically the levels when it passes from silence to speech. The v2.0 firmware mentions some fix on audio but i am not sure if it fixes the auto limiter. So the question is Do you believe that i can have decent internal audio by using external mics and a preamp? Does the audio of the present video come from internal or external recorder?

    • @MaartenHeilbron
      @MaartenHeilbron  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      The change is the pre-amp which now has a better range (when plugging in an external source, it was necessary to turn the level nearly all the way down. Audio in the on-camera scenes was recorded in camera (through the Tascam as described) - I didn't use the external recordings for this project.
      The voice over is recorded directly to the computer.
      I believe you can have decent quality from internal recordings, but external recordings are better for most things. I'm not sure about the exact nature of Fuji's audio processing, but I have not observed an auto gain control affect, although I believe there is always a limiter. As I said, with external sources, turn the audio down so that the levels don't peak the meter.

    • @ThomasKaranikas
      @ThomasKaranikas 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hello Maarten and thanks for your reply. I know that an external recorder is always best choise but in this project i want to go as compact as possible and handle everything on my own. So i do not want to worry if i press record on audio device. One button rec and everything rolls . I am considering a preamp as I mention. Specifically the saramonic rig + as it gets many good critiques. But you never know until you use one. Thanks again!

    • @MaartenHeilbron
      @MaartenHeilbron  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Always my pleasure. I'm not familiar with that brand, so I'll check it out. For a one-mic wireless solution, I use (as I mentioned) the RodeLInk wireless filmmaker kit.

    • @MaartenHeilbron
      @MaartenHeilbron  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @mipmipmipmipmip If you are serious about video, there is no suitable on-camera solution, even with brands that have XLR adapters. External is easier, simpler and higher quality.

    These videos are so helpful. Do you think you could do a short one on how to process these files. I have an xt20. I've shot a few short 4k videos, but sharing and exporting them is difficult. My phone can't read .MOV. Any converter to mp4 I find can't do more than 1080p. What should I be doing to work with these files more efficiently?

    • @MaartenHeilbron
      @MaartenHeilbron  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Get a Mac? (sorry, can't resist) OSX includes iMovie, which imports and edits X-T20 files without problem. There are also free Windows video editing applications (like MovieMaker) which also import and edit those files. I have no recommendations for Android phones, sorry.

  • @finepixs2
    @finepixs2 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Great video, very informative . Question..can you have the charger turn on when you are video taping an event? When the camera battery dies will the camera continue to record on the other two batteries? I plan on recording a dance show on stage, any suggestions for settings? Thanks
    peiphotographer

    • @MaartenHeilbron
      @MaartenHeilbron  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks, I appreciate the kind words. With the battery grip mounted and the battery grip charger connected to the mains, the camera will not run out of battery. When using the grip, the batteries in the grip are used first, then the battery in the camera. When any one of those batteries is depleted, recording will stop, regardless of the availability of other charged batteries.
      My general settings should apply. 30 frames, 1/60 - you probably don't want the aperture too large (to keep focus) but you probably don't want the ISO too high (to keep noise down).

      That's very kind, thanks. I'd take the X-T2, primarily because the manual controls give you a better sense of what photography is about, then of course, larger sensor and in my opinion better lenses, even if you only get the kit.

    You’re good Maarten, you’re really good, I got this camera (X-T2) about four weeks ago and it exceeded my expectations. I don’t have much interest in video…… but you never know. Could you make a similar video on settings just for stills? Thank you.

    • @MaartenHeilbron
      @MaartenHeilbron  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That's kind of you to say. Thing is that stills are both simpler (just set all dials to A and use the EV dial to make adjustments) or more difficult, as I try to explain the settings for each situation (landscapes, portraits, action, etc.). I'm working on a review of the X-T2, which may cover the information you're looking for. Give me a few weeks to complete it.

    Very informative but how about PLAYBACK in camera? And deleting video from the 2nd card? Not sure (yet....but I'm looking) how to switch to watch and delete unwanted clips from the 2nd card.

    • @MaartenHeilbron
      @MaartenHeilbron  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      So here's the thing ... I've never deleted any file (well, maybe not every, but nearly) I've ever created, recorded or saved. Memory cards and hard drives are cheap compared to the value of your data. One slip of the finger in camera and it's one forever. You never know when an out-take or other footage might be useful. You won't regret keeping it, but you may certainly regret deleting it. Once it's backed up on your computer and the project is finished, maybe that's the time to trim the recordings, but not before.
      That said, switch cards, (first option on the playback menu), navigate to the clip you want to delete and press the garbage can key.

    • @MaartenHeilbron
      @MaartenHeilbron  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Not much to elaborate - multi lets the camera select the focus area.

    • @deyaamounir4871
      @deyaamounir4871 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      but it does not actually show where the cameras is choosing to focus. In multi, the green focus square completely disappears. There no way of knowing whether it is focusing where it should. This makes it a useless setting

      Thank you, I enjoyed reading your kind words. If you intend to slow the footage, shoot at the highest frame rate - in PAL, that would be 50 frames, but I see no reason you could not shoot in NTSC and use 60, which could be marginally better. When you edit, your NLE won't care whether you shot in PAL or NTSC.

    Great video thanks. You do go a bit fast but with some pausing and back-tracking I managed to take note of everything you said! This is the first time I shall be shooting a video and its going to be a birthday message by a group at work for a colleague. I am thinking that using HD rather than 4K might be easier on the camera (writing to the card especially, but also when it comes to editing on the laptop). Does eye detection work in video mode? I am also not sure if I should take an led light with me since it is going to be indoors and I am afraid of reflections ruining the shot. And finally, my understanding is that when shooting people it is often better to opt for softness, so how do I get that softness or is it something that is best done in post ? Thanks.

    • @MaartenHeilbron
      @MaartenHeilbron  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks, I appreciate the kind words. HD is fine, if you're challenged editing 4K (which would still be my preference). Eye detection doesn't work in video. Take the light, you won't be sorry you brought it, only that you didn't. Use the chrome film sim, turn down the highlight and shadow (as suggested in the video) along with the sharpness for a softer look. Doing that in post may ruin the image. Always best to get as close as you want in camera.
      If it's a one-time thing, before you leave for the shoot, do a test shoot at home with those settings and evaluate it on your computer.

    Helpful video. But I'm unclear on one point. You suggest starting settings of F4 and 60fps. But in a well lit situation (e.g. outdoor daylight), what should I adjust? Smaller aperture or faster frame rate? I did some testing and it appears both will control exposure...but what is best strategy for video?

    • @MaartenHeilbron
      @MaartenHeilbron  7 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Excellent question, and thanks for the kind words. First, adjust the ISO to the smallest possible setting. Then increase the aperture (as long as the greater depth of field doesn't affect the quality of your shot). My first action on going outside is to install an ND filter - which is really the solution I'd recommend.

    Do you have any tips on configuring the Tascam for use as the external audio recorder with the XT2? I've purchased the DR60DMKII but am pretty new to using external audio. My biggest concern (and maybe there are more I should be concerned about) is ensuring that the video settings and audio settings are compatible so that nothing desyncs or becomes problematic in post. Thanks!.

    • @MaartenHeilbron
      @MaartenHeilbron  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      You're thinking too much. I've not had any issues, everything I shoot syncs easily and perfectly. At first I was concerned about slating and syncing, but now do it so easily (even when we don't slate or when the video is silent) that I don't worry about anything. Just do a quick test recording and see. For the record, I record at the CD equivalent 44.1Khz 16 bit setting. And the quality of the recording on the internal card is clearly better than the same sound recorded on the camera.

I set the camera up based on your recommendations but noticed a little bit of shaking when using the 23mm 1.4 lens free hand. However, I switched to the kit lens 18-55 2.8 lens and turned on the stabilization on the lens and it resolved the issue. How can I use my 23mm 1.4 lens and avoiding the minor shaking in the output. To what level do you set the audio when you use a shotgun microphone on the camera?

    • @MaartenHeilbron
      @MaartenHeilbron  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      That depends on the mic - but it's likely lower than the default or when using the internal mics. Turn it down until the average hovers around the blue line, but the loudest sounds should not make it to the top and be red. It's always better (in a digital system) to record low and turn it up in post than the opposite - you can never undo the compression and or distortion created by recording at a high level.

    Mr Maarten, hi. I hope you and yours are well. This time I' d like to ask you something about the evf and lcd screens. When I shoot video and check what I shoot from the lcd screen only, the video that is being recorded is brighter than the one I am seeing on the lcd while recording and later on pc monitor. Now with the new firmware, checking while shooting through evf I can arrange better what is being recorded. Of course I can understand that you can arrange many things in post, but could you please tell me, how can I know that what I see on the lcd, is what I see on the evf screen? Do these two screen show the same brightness (because to my experience for the video they don't) and how can I "allign" them, if there is any way. Of course I understand that what I see on the lcd is always affected on the lights around me... and I do have a screen protector on the lcd, a good one, I do not know if this affects anything... I hope what I am trying to say here, makes sense... Thank you for your time...

    • @MaartenHeilbron
      @MaartenHeilbron  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      I am well, thanks for asking - always nice to hear from you. I don't think that either screen is the best tool to judge exposure, at least until you're kind of familiar with how they represent. My feeling is in general, both a little more contrasty than I like. You can adjust the brightness level ( and the colour) but that may not help much. Instead of a screen protector, you might consider a loupe or other viewing cover for the LCD - I've looked but haven't bought.
      Although I often shoot without, when I can I use an external monitor (Atomos Shogun) which provides much improved colour accuracy. Hope this helps.

    • @beltenebrosgr1904
      @beltenebrosgr1904 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Of course it does help... I will probably try to use evf for exposure as it seems more reliable to me and see if I can adjust lcd to something more usable, but unfortunately I cannot invest any more money on external monitor.
      Mr Maarten, please mention any "freezing" if you had any issues with the camera. I informed the Fuji dealer here in Greece and they told me that they know this problem exists to cameras and try to find a solution... Anyway if you hear from other owners or experience anything yourself on this matter please let me know. Thanks again for taking the time to answer. Looking forward to your full review on Xt-2.

      Thanks, I appreciate the kind words. In that situation I'd use manual focus - and not the widest aperture. You can try AFC - but be sure to set the movie af mode to Area. Don't put the focus area on your face (try lower down, like your shirt, as there's less "movement" there. Or try with face detect, that works (reasonably well) for me.

      Maarten Heilbron Thank you for your reply Maarten. And happy Saturday to you! I'm not keen on focusing manually, as I am a beginner at using cameras and will be filming myself, so I want good focus guaranteed. But I will consider that if there is no solution.
      I've followed all your camera settings suggestions, including the area mode, but the camera keeps hunting when videoing with autofocus. I've seen a few people online complain about the same problem. Is there a setting perhaps that's not included in your video, that's possibly making the difference? Or perhaps the camera I bought is faulty? I appreciate that it can be difficult to answer these questions when you're not holding my actual camera in your hands! Many thanks in advance!

    • @MaartenHeilbron
      @MaartenHeilbron  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I would recommend manual focussing even for beginners, as it's an easy thing to do, and much more reliable than autofocus. Simply focus on some object at the same distance that you will be from the camera - and that's all you need to do.
      The only tip I have is to use face detect and to keep the focus point lower than your face.

    • @MaartenHeilbron
      @MaartenHeilbron  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, you can power the camera from the battery grip while it's plugged in. So it occurs to me that's one thing I haven't tested - does the recording stop (or, do the batteries drain) while it's plugged in? I'll test.

      @jeffzobaloco6600 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hello Maarten, thanks for your video, even after 1 year, it's still usefull.
      Have you took the time to test powering the grip externally in DC power and see if the recording reaches the 30min limit even with low charged batteries ?
      I'll be using this camera for documentaries so I need to figure out a way to power it efficiently for long durations. I was thinking of using external bigger 9V batteries to power up the camera via the input DC of the grip.
      Thank you again for your work.

    • @MaartenHeilbron
      @MaartenHeilbron  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks, I appreciate the kind words. When the grip is connected to AC, the charge of the batteries in the grip doesn't matter. However, the internal battery must have some charge to sustain recording. If you have an adapter that allows you to power the grip from DC, that should work.

    Hi Maarten. Been shooting the X-T2 for stills since early '17. I've been asked to record some video at a family wedding soon. You commented that "plugging in the grip's power cable powers the camera." I assume the power cable is the charger, correct? And, since the batteries are charging, the power-down condition with the batteries should be eliminated as well. Does using the power cable enable a full 30 minute video without breaks?

    • @MaartenHeilbron
      @MaartenHeilbron  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, I'm referring to the grip's charging cable. However, this does not provide the infinite power supply you may think - the internal battery does still deplete - just very slowly. You should be able to record 30 minute clips without breaks for a total 2-3 hours with the grip (with 2 batteries). Longer durations will require external power.
      However, even with the latest firmware, you need to keep you eye on the camera - when a battery depletes it will stop recording. I also find that it sometimes stops recording without warning for reasons I've yet to determine.

    • @MaartenHeilbron
      @MaartenHeilbron  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@davidbridenstine6358 I'd use the 18-135, just so I could get the composition right from the location. The 16mm is likely too wide.
      I'd put a Zoom F2-BT on the bride (usually the quietest of the officiant, bride and groom), and if you have two, a second one on the groom. Then you'll have a nice close recording without having to worry about RF.

    When using a Lav mic, you said to have the Mic Settings between 2 to 4 - how would you decide which was best between 2 and 4? i.e. what is the logic behind choosing the Mic Level? For a very quiet studio with only one person speaking through a lav mic at a low tone of voice (i.e. not loud voice), what would be the best setting?

    • @MaartenHeilbron

      Set it low enough so that there is no chance of the meter showing red. It is easier to increase a low level recording than to remove distortion from a high one.

    I've only just swapped from Nikon to Fuji and have a few questions.
    I have been asked to record a school play. I intend using my XT2 and XT1. I have battery grips for both.
    Am I right in thinking that plugging the power cable into the grip on the XT2 will prevent the video cutting out unexpectedly
    (apart from the 30 minute limit of course)
    When it does stop after 30 minutes, is there a long delay while it stores info before I can turn it on again?
    If I use the XT1 to cover these stop-start occasions will i be able to edit them without any glaringly obvious colour changes etc.
    If the play runs for 2 hours will I be able to film it all in HD (not 4k) on 2 64 gig cards?
    Thanks in advance for any help you can offer.

    • @MaartenHeilbron
      @MaartenHeilbron  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      The camera will stop recording when a battery runs out. I haven't tested how long it takes for that to happen with the power plugged in. When you plug in the power cable, the grip batteries actually disappear from the screen.
      You can start recording again nearly immediately (losing a second or two).
      Each 4BG chunk (actually) 4.14GB holds about 5:20 of video - but that will vary (slightly) depending on content. The camera estimates a 64GB card will hold 75 mins of 4K, or 30fps HD. You should be fine with two cards.

    Hi Maarten. Great video. I am subscribed. Question about the X-T2 and streaming. Does it have clean HMDI? Does it have a 1/2 hour limit? Can you do AF while streaming or do you have to do manual? Thanks ahead of time for your help.

      Yes, the X-T2 has clean HDMI. The recording limit varies - but you can get 30 minutes of internal recording when you're using the battery grip. There is no limit on external recording. Yes, you can AF while streaming, although the AFC is not as reliable as you'd like - while the foreground remains in focus, the background sometimes pulses slightly.

    Very helpful video, thank you Maarten. I'm having trouble with the camera constantly refocussing when I'm recording vlog video. It means the slightest movement and the focus moves from my face to my hands and back again. I just called Fuji and they told me manual focus doesn't work in movie mode, which seems bizarre. You mention settings for vlogging, so is there a way to stop the focus hunting? Thanks for your help :o)

      WHAT??? Manual focus absolutely works in video mode! (or are you using some odd non-Fuji lens?)
      If the distance isn't changing that might be your best option.
      However, I record a lot of my on-camera scenes using the X-T2 with the focus switch on the C position, single point, with the large point centred over my face (and for what it's worth) face on/eye off. Works flawlessly without hunting or resetting.
      Let me know if this helps.

    Mr Maarten, hi. I hope you are well. The Xt-2 comes with a little flash. When I use this flash and try and focus with the camera, there are times that I have to wait and focus again and again until the icon of the flash (that is ready to flash!) appears on display , is that normal? I mean there are times that I might focus once and flash is ready and others that I might focus multiple times (half push of the shutter button) and the flash is not ready (no icon of the flash being ready on display). And I do have to mention that once again my camera "froze" when using the flash, somedays ago, just once but it happened and again I had to remove battery and I do am afraid if this ever happens when I shoot video, because then it would be more difficult to remove the battery because of the battery grip. I don't know it might be me not knowing how to use that or being impatient or forceful with the camera, but I honestly try to understand what is going on. When in video everything seems fine in photos also but since I am not a frequent user of the camera it makes me wonder. Forgive me if I sound (or am) hypebolic!

    • @MaartenHeilbron
      @MaartenHeilbron  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sorry about the delay - good question, so I wanted to do some research on this, as it's not a situation I'd encountered. So, in general, when the TTL icon appears, you can press the shutter to focus and the flash icon appears and the flash fires when the picture is taken. After a couple of shots, if you are too fast (even if the TTL icon appears) the flash icon doesn't appear - and although you can wait with your finger on the button, it never sets the flash, so you must release and try again.
      I found that if I slow down, the flash is more reliable - so I imagine that the issue is the flash recharge cycle is slower than I'd like.
      As for the camera freezing, although I use the camera extensively, I've not had that happen since you first mentioned it. It's probably contacting Fuji while the camera is still in warranty to have this checked.
      Now on track to publish my Fuji X-T2 firmware 2 review on May 4th.

    • @beltenebrosgr1904
      @beltenebrosgr1904 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Please do not be sorry about the delay, there is always life other than the internet... It makes sense what you say about the flash. My problem is that I never owned another photographic camera, but I do have worked for years (as a second job) shooting video for other photographers with video cameras. To handle a photo camera it is kind of different than a video one, at least to me. May be sometimes being in a hurry or forceful in a way that I do not get, maybe that causes the "freezing". I have authentic fuji batteries and the best Sandisk U3 64gb 280s cards... I have asked other professional photographers-videographers on youtube about that, at least two of them, told me that it has happened once to each. I honestly do not know what to do, because if it is the way "I use it" then I need to work with the camera more to see how it responds, like with the flash... It makes sense in a way, I am not sure. But honestly I love this camera.
      As always, thank you very very much for your response Mr Maarten.

    I do have a question about the new firmware. Did I understand you saying that you could move the focus point while recording video to a new focus point using the joystick without it focusing at every focus point along the way, or is this not yet possible? I want to be able to focus pull between 2 points but not have the focus change while using the joystick to move between the two points.

    • @MaartenHeilbron
      @MaartenHeilbron  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      You can move it while recording, but if you move slowly, it will focus on intermediate points. What you want isn't possible - you would need either a touch screen or a lens with a defined travel. I understand that Fuji is working on cine lenses (like the recently released MK series for e-mount) for x-mount.

    • @cactustweeter2890
      @cactustweeter2890 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks Maarten for responding. So moving the focus point using the joystick, even when in AF-S, could focus on intermediate points unless I move the focus point quickly?

    • @MaartenHeilbron
      @MaartenHeilbron  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      IN AF-C it focuses as you move the point, in AF-S is wait until you press the shutter or AF-L button. However, that focus action isn't always smooth and usable.
