I just came to say you're an amazing teacher and your're an inspiration for all the students out there. I think teaching is always the key to instill love, courage, talent, admiration, and much more to this and any other professions. Music is definnetely the language of love and you teach very well how to speak it 💞
I actually never heard that explanation of rubato before, where you are letting the part without melody advancement glide. That makes so much sense, thanks for the video!
Amazing explanaition. I makes sense to me on another level now. I think I do this naturally in most cases, or at least try to when my skill level allows for it. I also think I copy musicians i listen to A LOT. Glad to hear that it's not considered cheating to copy other artists 😅
I really like the boat picture. When I play Chopin I always keep in mind how fascinated he was by female singers. I try to imagine, how his melodies would be sung by a really good female singer with a lot of feelings.
Great explanation of how to think of rubato, and equally great demonstration. I had no idea you were under the weather until you weren't sure about an opus number. Feel better soon. You're doing a great job, but don't forget human beings needing rest is still a thing. :)
Hi Josh. Could you do a video about the phrasing typically for Chopin's music? I heard a beautiful Koczalski recording, and him being the student of a student of Chopin, must be very close in his Chopin interpretation.
Can you make a video about where a interprtation ends and playing the pice worng starts. For instance in articulation. How far can i go from the things written in the score?? I hope you understand my question. Greetings from Germany (P.s maybe you can use some examples of Liszt's Piano sonata in b minor. I'm learning it right now and i find it very hard to interpret. Despite all the recordings on TH-cam)
Mr. Wright, did you change your microphone set up at all/ what do you use? I’m listening to this with headphones and whenever you play, it sounds absolutely fantastic and I want a set up just like that at some point to record pieces.
He did step up his mic game recently. He links his whole setup in the description. btw, Josh and his wife Lindsey are both "Drs." Wright. He doesn't play it up, but it's probably worth noting here.

Yes, I agree, that was a very good example!
Great lesson on a very difficult to explain subject. The boat analogy is great.
You definitely opened up a part of me in music which I didn’t know/understand
What an Amazing way to explain rubato that can carryover to all pieces and styles. Thanks for all you do!!! 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
This just blew my mind. Have been polishing Mendelssohn's Song Without Words op.38 no.6 and this totally upends how I've been thinking about it.
You're a great inspiration. I have paid for your course, but I still come here onto TH-cam, because there is so much to learn...
Thank you. This was very helpful. I have always struggled with rubato.
Love the analogy of playing Rubato..... thank you very much!!
i'm so glad I discovered this channel through reddit, I have definitely learned so much!

So helpful! Thanks Josh!
Thank you, Josh. boats and rowing,
plus conscious use of melody, not fill-- so helpful!
I'm so glad I discovered this video. I bet your videos and resources will be useful for my piano research for a novel I'm working on. I miss my piano.

Oh yes, that’s also a great thing to keep in mind while playing Chopin’s music!
Thank you so much Josh. I love your videos
Thanks Josh so much for this enlightening video on rubato it helps a lot! I hope you are feeling better soon! Brian King
Another great video - so helpful, thanks Josh!
Amazing video, Josh! I am learning to play classical guitar, and your video is super helpful and you play beautifully!
Great video with great examples!
Sooo helpful! Thank you!
Thank you so much! This is such a great analogy, I have never heard it like this before. This makes so much sense.
Thank you Josh, great video :)
Thank you Josh👍
Tank you !
I love the ship imagery. I use a rubber band.

Ok this is getting scary josh, how do you keep using the pieces I’m learning as examples..
Haha 😂😂
Lang Lang would like a word with you... about slowing down lol

Can you do a video on Brahms rhapsody no2?
👌🏼🤗
Josh what do you think about Rondo Fantastique - "El Contrabandista" by Liszt?
Assuming he can play it. Haha, good suggestion though I adore that epic piece.
What is the piece that Josh is playing at 3:58?
Chopin Piano Concerto Nr.1 (1st mov)
@@Antune thank you :)

@@DrQuizzler thank you and thanks for the heads up
