The displeasure of the local population towards massive influx of new immigrants is totally understandable. Partly the Canadian government is responsible as well for not having a comprehensive plan to integrate large number of immigrants into the local population. Immigrants should learn to assimilate themselves into the local population through education and integration. Respecting the host country, its people, its way of life, its rule of law, its culture and tradition are responsibilities of all immigrants.
The so called multiculturalism actually deters assimilation. Coupled with the shallow, provincial, chauvinistic nationalism (thks to some country’s propaganda), many of these immigrants retain their own habits and behaviour; too many of the chinese who have been here for half a century have yet to try out tapas, perogies, baklavas, roti, ossobuco etc but stick only to dimsum, choisum and char siu!! As Nobel prize winner Liu Xiaobao lamented: it takes the chinese 300 years…. (to assimilate)! Now with the increasing pressure on inflation many are struggling with basic needs such as groceries for the families.
Untrue and misleading ! My neighbours are mostly whites, Indians , Filipino and Muslims…etc. they all respect and converse with me(Hongkongers). They don’t impose negativism. This video was taken about 30 years ago. The HK immigrants at that time had very strong financial resources. They could buy houses and cars without mortgage. Locals were not used to their way of life (not their behaviour & attitude), and didn't accept the sudden occupation of the land of Canada. But now, after 30 years, locals accepted this change and this need of Canada. They knew HK immigrants better and even some of their friends are from HK, so the complaints are gone. Also, as immigrants from different countries have increased, the locals have become accustomed to it. Why is the situation 30 years ago confused with today?

其实没有地方会完全欢迎难民或者移民人，文化不同而且很多移民或者外劳在不是自己的地方我行我素。到别人地方，做移民或者外劳这些事都预料之内的了

I don’t believe trees have feelings, but I really appreciate the shade they offer. Lately, I’ve been upset because someone new moved in and cut down the trees in front of their house. It’s sad because now the neighborhood has a bald spot because of the missing shade.
