I enjoyed spending time watching you open your package, making lunch, teaching me about warm honey water (I had one immediately after watching you make one ☺ and really enjoyed it…thank you) and seeing the joy you had while cross stitching. I love cross stitching. I used sz 10 white cotton thread and crocheted 3 sunbursts (2” wide) and joined them together into the shape of a heart. I will sew it onto the front of a small bag. See you next time, Kiko. 💕
Glad Mochi is enjoying her ebi fry toy. And her custom ebi futon and pillow. Too cute! She might also like the little mice which our cats couldn't get enough of as well as the little balls with bells in them and the ever popular cat dancer. Love the addition of counted cross stitch. Will have to look for that book!
Thank you very much for watching! That futon was so cute... I had to get it! 😅 The cross stitch book is really cute. The designs reminds me of old retro video game graphics
I just use painters tape single strand on each side, as opposed to folding one piece over. You need to rub it in with back of pen to make sure it sticks well 😊
Thank you for sharing this new book on cross stitch, I have just ordered it , so looking forward to it arriving, I have been cross stitching for about 65years, but you can always use another book 😂😂, another one to add to my collection 👍👏👏😂
😂 just take your time and enjoy it and remember to make sure your x always go in the same direction 👍 I am trying to learn Sashiko at the moment, can’t you give me any tips , I’m really liking it, but not to sure I’m doing it properly 🫢, but your never too old to try something new 😂👍, sending blessings from Scotland 🏴
I find vintage metal embroidery hoops at yard sales and antique-shops. They have cork on them which keeps the fabric from slipping. My favorite one is the one my grandmother gave me which was hers when she was a little girl. I also have her silver thimble. Both are precious to me and well used.
wow! It would be nice if modern embroidery hoops have that too! That's really nice you have precious items from your grandma that you can use and treasure! 😊
I love your videos. They are SO relaxing and cute.. The only thing you need to remember with cross stitch, is that all the stitches need to point the same direction, for eksample.. every bottom stitck needs to go from left bottom to right top, and upper stitch from right bottom til left top.. (hope I make sense :) )
Really love watching your videos and find them super relaxing and enjoyable to watch😊It is so fun to see everything you make and getting inspired as well as I share many of the hobbies, one of them being embroidery. I haven't seen the wrapping technique with the hoop before😮A technique I learned from another was pulling on the fabrics all around the edges while tightening the screw one the hoop, once the screw is as tight as you manage to get it then pull on the fabric once more - this helped me so much and I've had no issues with the fabric getting loose while embroidering since I started doing this. Another tip I got was using a flatheaded screwdriver (or any other type that fits the screw on the hoop) to tighten the screw if it hurt my fingers while loosening or tightening it😅
Thanks for the video, Kiko! It's so nice to see you pick up cross-stitch. This is the kind of stitching I do when I watch your videos and funnily enough, I don't know how to embroider and would want to learn how to embroider someday! ☺
Once I crocheted an amigurumi gold fish (with cat mint filling) for the neighbors cat and she came to me every day and jumped on my couch while I was working on my laptop and played with it like mochi does. They get REALLY crazy when there is cat mint in the toy 🤣🎉🤪
One of the best micro cross-stitch projects I've seen was one by Rosary Apparel here on TH-cam. She's an Australian dressmaker, but about a year or so ago she went to Japan to live with her husband for 6 months, and during that time, she did a micro-cross stitch design for every day that she was there, representing something that they did, big or small. She talks about it in a video from 11 Nov 23 and she was inspired by the same artist/author you mention Kiko - Makoto Uzu - and met her as well, so it's a video you might like to have a look at. :)
Thank you very much for watching! I have trouble keeping the fabric tight on the hoop while I embroider. It's really tight in the beginning but gradually loosens up the more I stitch. A few viewers commented to use bias tape to wrap around the inner hoop to help with that and it's been helping! 😊
Cats are fickle with their toys. If they like something today, they will not play with it tomorrow, but next week it is brand new again! And you are right, the box is the best toy of all. Mochi is growing. Enjoy her while she is a kitten because as she grows she will get more sedate and not as much fun.
this was another very informative video and I love seeing Mochi!! Could you again give the name of the yarn you use and where to buy it. The colors are beautiful. Also, where can I purchase lovely wood spools like you have?
Winding threads, all sorts of fibers, makes my hands ache and I used to push my way through. Now I can’t bring myself to do that. Just thought I would tell you.
Oh that's interesting using art/painter's tape! Thank you for sharing! ❤️ I've never been interested in cross stitch at all but this one book really got me interested. Really changed my mind about it after trying it! ❤️
So glad I stumbled upon you !! I really enjoy your calming videos !! I would like to get into Embroidery . Can you explain where to get or how to make those little square embroidery floss please? I see the floss at the store but not how it is wound like yours. I would love to have mine stored as neatly as you have yours. Any ideas or help would be appreciated. Blessings to you :)
Thank you very much for watching! The cardboard squares are bobbins that you wind and store the floss. They are purchased separately from the floss skeins you see in stores. The embroidery floss and bobbin I use is from DMC. The plastic compartment organizer was from a Japanese dollar store.😊
When I cross stitch I do not use a hoop. I hold the cloth in my hand and work only on top except for the starting stitch of each section or color change. I diagonal my needle to go into 2 holes

Literally cross stitching while watching your video -- its such a fun art style to learn, and I'm so happy to see that you're enjoying it too!

Lovely video as always 😁
It's a good idea to tape the edges of cross stitch fabric with masking tape to stop it fraying.
Love the hummingbirds 😊
Oh that's a great tip! It does fray quite a bit! Thank you for sharing!! 😊
I just use painters tape single strand on each side, as opposed to folding one piece over. You need to rub it in with back of pen to make sure it sticks well 😊
Watching your videos made me start crocheting again. Usually I only quilt these days.
Love to cross stitch. Just learning embroidery 🧵. Next Sashiko!!!

Wow! You have a lot of experience with cross stitch! I just started learning! 😅 Any tip for a beginner?

I just got the Yula embroidery book as a gift! I asked for it based on your recommendation. Thank you! It is beautiful. I can't wait to try it.
I'm so glad!! I really like her designs! 😊
Fun new toys for Mochi!! For you as well lol. Great first crosstitch project.
I love your videos. They are SO relaxing and cute..

You tube did me a favor and recommended your videos. I really enjoy watching you and learning about Japanese food. Thank you for sharing!

Watching Mochi's bread toys is making me hungry!! I LOVE the sashiko threads. Such beautiful colors!
lol...they're pretty close in size to real bread too! 😅
Really enjoy all your videos! Thank you xx

Thank you for sharing! ❤ from The Netherlands.
I just made a pillow using the sunburst square, I love it and can't wait to make another.
That's awesome!! What a great idea! Thank you for sharing! ❤️

It really is! I'm surprised at how much I've been enjoying it!😊
Mochi is so adorable. ❤
Cute video. Interesting soup. Such fun goodies Tom play with for Mochi & yourself❤
She's been playing with the packaging and box more than the toys...lol I had a feeling that would happen 😅
@kikosabi Just like a child❤️. When we were younger, my husband would say, " let's just get the kids some cardboard boxes"😊😊
Qué afortunado es mochi ❤❤❤
I'm very lucky to have Mochi in my life. She really brightens my day! ❤️
@@kikosabicats love to help when we crochet and knit 😹🧶

Hey Kiko. I hope you're well.
What does wrapping the hoop with bias do, please?
Thanks so much 😸.

oh!! 😮 Is it easier without a hoop? or is that personal preference?

Why cover the inner hoop of embroidery hoop with fabric ? I’ve heard of covering the outer one for decor
Thank you very much for watching! It helps grip the fabric to keep it tight when embroidering. 😊
I am in my mid 70s and I have wooden embroidery hoops that belonged to my grandmother from her youth - the 1920s to 1940s. Hers are wrapped in fabric strips too.
Do you like beadwork or making jewelry?
