Sail Away is my most ultimate favorite song that Melodia Cristea sings, love that Outstanding/Amazing voice, and I just adore the length of Melodia's gorgeous hair (wish that she would let it grow back out as long as in this video).
I love this video for a number of reasons. It’s not only a different style, but you get to hear everyone’s individual skills, Justin on piano, Sam on both acoustic and electric, Ethan’s bass and Aby’s drumming. I always wonder how much effort it got to take that grand piano down to the beach! They don’t have roadies, they haul their own equipment, there’s video of them setting up and recording their original We Are the Children that you might want to check out, it’s on their channel as Behind the Scene filming We Are the Children. I suggest watching We Are the Children first though. 😁 It’s an original and a really great song.
This takes me back. During covid they were still in their 3 bedroom apt in Downey California. They went to work on Queen of Hearts album during the Pandemic. There were only 2 bands I know of that released an album during 2020. Liliac and my 3rd Band Scardust. Pretty Reckless had an Album in the can and all they released was Death by Rockin Roll. Which, I bought the single on vinyl. I'm still mad at them. They promised the Fangs a ballad. And gave us a wonderful power ballad. It was filmed in Orange County. Just imagine the cost with Crazy California prices and permits to make a video. They are so Independent. The choir was said to be friends and Fangs. Some from the pier days. My suggestion in hearing MeloDia is first look up their early vlogs. Saving Rockin Roll shows their heart. Or my favorite long version of their band reel. She was 16. Or the track by tracks of Queen of Hearts album. Or look up Vinny and Carmine Appice interviewing her. This one I have a lot of fond memories. Real nice reaction. Sorry. Oldman rant. Peace. When someone does a cover you have a tendency to relate the vocals back to the original. You have the original artist as a baseline for comparison . With their originals you are starting with a fresh slate. Great reaction. They are so much improved even from this excellent video. Melody really beginning to expand her vocal abilities. I still get chills listening to Country Girl when she was on with Vinnie Appice's Sabbath Knights..
I love the color symbolism in this video. The white dress of Melody at the beginning (serenity), then the black dress (anxiety) interspersed with the white one (hope). In the second part, black is associated with breaking up, and white at the very end means slight sadness and sweet memories, when the pain of loss has already subsided.
