I had the extreme pleasure of seeing Rosemary Clooney with the Denver Symphony. It was a dream come true. RIP . Such a class act from head to toe.

I started to cry myself when the drawing was given to her. Rosemary Clooney never needed to show off when she sang. All she did was stand there start a ballad and Hypnotize the listener with impeccable phrasing and tone!

This is my favourite Rosie show video . Rosie is the best chat show host. I wish she had the Carson spot for thirty years, it'd have been far more engaging to behold on TH-cam.

Being a millennial born some time after Rosemary’s peak popularity, I think the first time I really heard her sing was in an episode of “er” where she plays a patient with cognitive decline. She can be heard singing perhaps my favorite Christmas song ever, “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas”. I was a kid then, maybe 12 or 13 at most, but it stuck with me. Perhaps the warmest voice I had ever heard, and ever charming. Her voice and phrasing just wrap around you like a favorite sweater on a crisp autumn evening. As an adult some years after she passed, I sought to learn more about her as a singer. I think for many years her reputation suffered because of some of the popular novelty material she recorded in the 1950s that didn’t age well. The fact is however that Rosemary was one of the finest singers of her generation. She had a solid sense of swing, and in later years she recorded more respected material. As a consequence, she began to gain the critical acclaim that she deserved. She was a very genuine person without affectation as can be seen here. By this time, she was no longer well. You can see how overweight she is, and she seems to get short of breath. I am glad that she received some of her flowers before she passed on. They were well earned. Rest easy Rosemary.

Why can't television be this timeless now? Variety is dead.
