Thanks again, Liz, for another instructive, flawlessly taught video. I watched a dozen videos on wire-wrapping rocks that were so complicated and confusing. Then I found your video and got it on the first try as I followed along with your instructions. You are hands down the best jewelry-making teacher on utube. Since I don't have access to jewelry-making classes, I don't know where I would be without you! Thanks to you, I can avoid getting bogged down trying over and over again to follow someone else's complicated technique while struggling to see what they are doing through a fuzzy camera haze. So I greatly appreciate your videographer, who always produces a crisp, pristine picture of your work that makes it so much easier to follow.
i really enjoyed your presentation. it was very clear. i'm from NB and have just started with sea glass and can't wait till summer when I can go searching for glass.
Thank you so much for such an easy to follow tutorial! I live 3 hours from the ocean but have my "treasure jar" of sea glass from travels to Europe. I've always.wanted to try this. My favorite found treasure is blue and white pottery, about 1/2" wide 1" long sort of a funky triangle shape. Creamy white on back but on the other side where the blue still shows you can vaguely make out a hint of some sort of flower petal, maybe? I found it on the strand at Spanish Point in Co. Clare Ireland in 2003!! I think I'll be buying some wire for a long overdue project this weekend! Thank you! Silly little beach find, but it's one of my favorite possessions.
Your method makes so much sense to me--do the bail first! After watching your video, I got out my wire and sea glass and made a pendant and matching earrings. Thanks!
I found an awesome beach (kinda a beach) filled ( literally) with sea glass, but I can't remember the restaurant it was behind TT.TT You couldn't see the sand at all, nothing but glass. I brought about a handful home with me, but I can't remember where I put it. Evil memory.
Thanks so much Liz. I just found your reply. I just watched the video again and I`ll watch it a few more times to be sure of what I`m doing. I watched some others by some other artists and yours was the clearest and I like your voice. So thanks so much for your video! :)
GREAT ...SIMPLE Tutorial... I am not SO NEW at Jewelry Design..BUT New to Wire Wrapping! Following this tutorial was easy to watch & Understand! Thank You & Have a Blessed & Creative Day 8~)
Love your videos. I have a lot of sea glass I've picked up from living in Carriacou, Grenada. Now I can start making beautiful necklaces and earrings. Thank you for sharing.
Mahalo 4 the speedy response. I just started making jewelry, most of my focal pieces r from natural materials I've found throughout the islands of Hawai`i. Yr vids r awesome, plenty great info with concise & easy 2 follow narrative & video shots. I look forward 2 watching many more of yr vids. Keep up the excellent work! ~K...
Well, you just made my day. Thank you so much for the wonderful positive feedback. I owned a bead store for 7 yrs (just closed it last month) and have been teaching for 9 yrs. Your critique lets me know that I'm doing OK.
liz, i love ur tutorials on wire wrapped. I am just starting out with wire wrap. I think beach pieces, cabachons, and undrilled pieces look even better. I have been buying small spools of wire. I wd like to see some donuts wire wrapped. keep the good work going!
Just beautiful!! I'm also from Nova Scotia, in the Halifax area. I have a cottage near the beach on the North Shore. That's usually where I find my sea tumbled goodies. I started wire wrapping a little over a year ago, but I'm really enjoying the way that you do it! Subscribed! Can't wait to watch some more of your tutorials, you're a very good teacher! :)
Ashley Blossom Thank you so much Ashley, my neighbor. I can't say I have been to the North Shore...I live on the South Shore near Mahone Bay. Thanks so much for your support.
Great tutorial! My sister just taught me yesterday how to wrap and I made a stone pendant and shark teeth earrings. So much fun!! The wire we found at the shop though was pretty stiff so I'll need to find softer for future pieces. I love your bail shape!
Thank you thank you thank you! For showing me an EASY way to make a bail. I'm using this method now and my pieces are coming out fabulously and quickly! You do beautiful work, by the way. ;)
Making It Easy with Liz Found a guy on here wrapping a quartz point to use as a pendant but i decided the same technique may work on a small pebble. It did, but can't remember the video title!
Wow! Thank you so much for sharing this video, I loved it. I have so many crystals that I love and I'm considering to do this so I can actually wear them! Thank you again, you are so talented.
Thanks, Liz! You make it look so easy! I clicked to see your video on antiguing the wire; but, nothing came up!? Anyway, I will try wrapping all of my shells, unusually shaped stones, cabachons, etc. We don't get much seaglass, if any, here in Florida.
Hi Elena Thanks so much for watching. The link takes you to another video that has an annotation with a link to the section on how to antique with liver of sulfur. I don't think annotations can be seen on a phone or IPad/tablet. I need to do a separate video. I will get right on that.
I just think u r amazing at what u do and for sharing with people like myself trying to work at home and earn an income while taking care of sick loved ones.
I enjoyed viewing your video. I am just getting into tumbling things and am going to make my own jewelry, I am very interested in watching how different people wrap. You were a great instructor. and have your own little twist to things. Would love to talk with you.
I can't wait to try this, I have a lot of stones and I have recently started making jewelry. On aside note I'm from blockhouse N.S, and my parent still live there
Fallon Thank you so much, Fallon and you are very welcome. FYI I am working on my website and will be selling all the wire for my projects. It is www.makingiteasywithliz.com
Thank you for the video ,I'm from cape Breton and I often find beach glass and shells but I just keep them on my shelve now I am definitely going to try this
+alida hughes Hi Alida...I thought I had commented on your post but it looks like I didn't...I love Cape Breton! I was only there once. I hope you gave this a try. Thanks for watching neighbour!
+Making It Easy with Liz for some reason my old comment must have reloaded lol, so your not going crazy you did reply to the older version of the comment, if that makes sense lol thanks and I did actually make it, its so pretty.
I love your videos and this far your tutorials have been the best. I have recently started with wirework and this takes time but I have never thought of using sea glass and I live near the beach. Thanks so much :-)
Ivonne Marmolejo Hi Ivonne, sure why not? All I can say is give it a try. If you use dead soft wire, you will be able to conform to the different surface textures and rough is way easier to deal with than a polished slippery stone. Thanks so much for watching and good luck!
This is perfect! Just what I needed. I have one question, I don't have sea glass, I instead have some polished stones. Is this wire still sufficient for supporting them? I'm not sure if they are a little heavier than the glass.
Hi Liz. I've just discovered your channel and I think it's great. I could also picture where you got the sea glass. I know Nova Scotiabank very well. The Truro area is almost a second home, but my favourite places are Summerville beach and cape Breton. I actually have lots of stones, shells and sea glass from my last trip.
Hi Jenny Thank you so much for watching. That beach glass came from a Cape Bretoner that found it on Inverness beach. Yes Nova Scotia is stunning and I live 15 minutes from Mahone Bay.
I loved your video, probably the best I've seen so far! I didn't understand the length you are using, 2 ft? just to understand the proportions, can you tell me the size of the sea glass too? :-) Thanks a lot!
Anella Anella Thank you so much Anella. Depending on the size of your piece, 2' is a nice amount. You want to make sure you have enough to go around the bail several times throughout your wrapping. Take notes in case you are concerned about wasting wire, especially sterling.
Wow, I love this. So simple, yet really beautiful. Thank you for sharing. Also, a quick question... What is the name of the tool you use at the beginning? The one that looks a bit like a hair tool. Thanks.
Beautiful work! Hi, can you please recommend for me a brand of pliers? I need round nose but not sure what size/ length and or thickness I should buy. Id like to make pendants like yours with little metal spirals on the front. And I also need cutters. Please help. Thankyou!
Thank you for watching. You can purchase them (I offer a complete set) on my website www.makingiteasywithliz.com I suggest the white handled med-heavy duty set.
leslie nikulka Thanks so much Leslie. I will be selling dead soft pure copper, pure nickel and brass wire. I will also have Artistic Wire non-tarnish silver plated and German wire (half hard silver plated copper) wire.
Ginny Peluso Thank you Ginny for watching. All you do is take fine gauge wire like 24 gauge, run it through your bead or charm and then wrap it in between the wires covering the stone or where you can fit it.
enjoyed your video. I am a "rock virgin" and you have made it easy. Is the dead wire the best one for a beginner? I was hoping to use something that looks like sterling silver. thank you!
Sarita W Thanks so much Sarita for watching. You should always use dead soft wire because as you manipulate wire, it hardens. If you start with hard wire, you will never get it to hug your stone and you will want to fling it across the room. LOL ...I will be selling Artistic Wire brand non-tarnish silver plated wire on my website as soon as my designer stops procrastinating. This is a dead soft bright silver plated wire with a clear coating on it so it won't tarnish. You do have to be careful with your tools though so you don't break that coating. www.makingiteasywithliz.com
I currently own a bead shop in Bridgewater called "The Java Bead". I'm closing it a week from today after 7 years. It's all good, I'm loving doing the videos and I will have a website www.makingiteasywithliz.com and sell supplies, tutorials, blog, etc. I also am a jewelry designer and can't wait to peddle my wares.
I love wire wrapping. I have wrapped a few chakra stones myself. I purchased some wire that says non tarnish on the package but after a few weeks and water getting on it it turned brown like a penny. what kind of wire can I purchase that doesn't do that? I don't want to sell my pieces to people and it tarnishes on them.
Thank you. It's beautiful! I just bought a small bag of beach glass (sea glass?) with rough edges. Can you sand and polish this in a rock tumbler? I'm thinking of buying one.. thanks for your answer and for these videos. :-)
+laweez N Thanks so much for your kind feedback. You could use a tumbler but you have to use sand/grit and leave the thing running for days/weeks. Yikes! I would Google the process. It might be easier to use wet sandpaper and smooth it out with water, switching your grits to finer as you go.
Really pretty! Thanks for the tutorial. Wish I could find some beach glass like that :) Do you know if you can take glass (I'm thinking my old cobalt blue plates) and sandpaper or etch them to look like beach glass? I've looked at tumblers but the thought of having one running for a week or so isn't appealing.
Judi Morningstar Thank you Judi. For beach glass, I would look to the Internet. Ebay perhaps for beach/sea glass. As for creating your own, I think you are right, it would take a long time to do it yourself.
To answer the question of the stone falling out, you need to make sure you wrap your wire to the back of it as well as the front, getting it anchored before you do all of your deco swirls. Using your flat nose pliers, tweak your wires in the back with a little turn to tighten it up.
+Deanna Bello Thanks so much Deanna for watching. You have to play with your wire and wrap it and anchor it to itself on both front and back of your stone. Just make sure you can't move the stone as you wrap, checking all angles.
Stumbled on this video while looking for tips and tricks for this newbie to beach glass. I'm from Cape Breton!! Did this glass come from Inverness ;) My 4L pails did lol
Thanks for this video. It had helped me so much. I am wanting to wrap shells. .. do you have suggestions for wire info? I am heading 20 gauge to me 4 gauge. Not sure what to use. Thanks.
Christa H You're very welcome, Christa. I'm not really understanding what you mean by "I am heading 20 gauge to me 4 gauge". You want to use soft wire such as bare copper or Artistic Wire which is an enameled or plated copper wire. Wire gauge is this; the higher the number, the thinner the wire. 20 gauge is thinner than 18 gauge. 22, 20 & 18 gauge wire are all good for wrapping, depending on the size of your piece and how much you want to cover the piece with wire. For really small pieces, like for earrings, you could even use 24 gauge. I hope this answers your questions.
+catherine cortright Hi Catherine...my wire is dead soft bare copper wire but 18 gauge which does have stiffness naturally due to it's thickness. I do sell wire and should have my site up very soon. www.craftrends.ca or www.makingiteasywithliz.com. If you are interested in ordering before then, let me know and I can ship it to you.
Can you please tell me the name of your 3 step wire looping pliers? That looks quite big and I can't seem to find anything bigger than 4.5mm Thank you :)
Liz your video is the best beach glass wrapping video. Makes the most sense!!! Thank you!!!

Thank you Carmen! It is addicting and you'll soon be looking at what else you can wrap. Have fun!

Awesome...thank you so much Lindsay for your support.
this is fantastic. so well shown. i now have more confidence in wrapping my newly found pieces of sea glass in adelaide, south australia.
Thankyou sir sharing your expertise. They are beautiful
Thank you, but I am not a "sir".
Superb, thank you. Flat and irregular stones are easier to wrap. It's small, rounded pebbles that are a little trickier but I'm working on it!
Tina Jones Thank you Tina, you're right...little round smooth stones are insane to wrap.
Making It Easy with Liz Found a guy on here wrapping a quartz point to use as a pendant but i decided the same technique may work on a small pebble. It did, but can't remember the video title!

Thanks so much for watching. The link takes you to another video that has an annotation with a link to the section on how to antique with liver of sulfur. I don't think annotations can be seen on a phone or IPad/tablet. I need to do a separate video. I will get right on that.

You make this look so easy, ty! Will try your way very soon.
Really nice tutorial and works !!!
Gostei bastante Boa noite, lindas peças 🤗🤗🤗👍👍👍❤🌹
Is this a good technique to use for a stone or crystal that is a little rough and bumpy on the front and back? Thank you for the video.

Sure, you can wrap anything. You might have issues with the stone being too slippery if it's polished but doable. Thanks for watching.
Thanks for the reply! I have some that are very smooth and polished, and others that are a bit more rough. I will try it out :)
Great video! Thank you!

Hi Liz. I've just discovered your channel and I think it's great. I could also picture where you got the sea glass. I know Nova Scotiabank very well. Hi Jenny
Thank you so much for watching.

Thank you Claire. Are you referring to the pliers? That is a looping plier, for making various size loops and jump rings.
I think that's it. I wanted to know so I could order one myself. Thanks again 😊
Have subscribed. You have a great channel. 🙂🌲☘️

Thankyou. I will check theses out today :-)
Show do you antique it? Is 18 gauge finer than 22 gauge. Beautiful .
Oops, how do you antique the glass?
Mary Roseman Hi Mary
Liver of sulphur has no effect on the glass, only the bare copper.
Hi Liz! I'm really excited about your website/store. Will you be carrying base metal wire? p.s.~ another top-notch video. Thank you! :)
leslie nikulka Thanks so much Leslie. I will be selling dead soft pure copper, pure nickel and brass wire. I will also have Artistic Wire non-tarnish silver plated and German wire (half hard silver plated copper) wire.
I enjoyed the video but could you do one and include how you attach a charm or shell or bead?
Ginny Peluso Thank you Ginny for watching. All you do is take fine gauge wire like 24 gauge, run it through your bead or charm and then wrap it in between the wires covering the stone or where you can fit it.
How do you get the shell to stay firm against the beach glass with the copper wire? Do you have a video for making that one?
It was just a perfect fit really. Tighten the wire in the back to hold it in . Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. Thanks for watching, Stacie.
enjoyed your video. I am a "rock virgin" and you have made it easy. Is the dead wire the best one for a beginner? I was hoping to use something that looks like sterling silver. thank you!

To answer the question of the stone falling out, you need to make sure you wrap your wire to the back of it as well as the front, getting it anchored before you do all of your deco swirls. Using your flat nose pliers, tweak your wires in the back with a little turn to tighten it up.
Great video! Thank you
+Deanna Bello Thanks so much Deanna for watching. You have to play with your wire and wrap it and anchor it to itself on both front and back of your stone. Just make sure you can't move the stone as you wrap, checking all angles.
Sono stupendi!!!'!
Grazie!
+Patznn Thank you so much for watching and your kind comment.
P.S. I just did this with a craggy piece of petalite and it looks awesome.
+Eleanor Burian-Mohr Right on!

Phyl Thanks so much, Phyl.
I hope this answers your questions.
where can i buy the wires?cause the wire i buy in walmart or joans are soft n when i bend them they come out easily? yours look hard wires
That looks quite big and I can't seem to find anything bigger than 4.5mm
Thank you :)
Ana Bribi Check out my website, I sell a 6 step plier 2mm to 9mm
