I find a difference in felling and bucking. It depends what you are doing all day. I also think it is less wear on the bar when you dont have to put pressure on the bar. Say bucking firewood but you have to put pressure on the bar felling. Skip tooth can also be pretty aggressive with the rakers low. I use both. Cheers

I think they both have an application depending on the scenario!

Do you think there is a benefit to the premium bar oil you’re using?

Sure seems like the time saved on the full comp is enough to justify the extra file strokes. Saw has the power to pull it, and will help load it up in the smaller wood.

It's not the speed really. The full house will be faster on a big/powerful saw. The skip tooth is faster to sharpen, but it likely needs sharpened more often. So logically you will have to replace a skip tooth chain more often.
Despite that logical conclusion, I admit I really like the skip tooth.
But it pays off better with a smaller saw with the longer bar.
Currently I have a 72cc saw, so the skip tooth chain will only help with having less teeth to sharpen. I would lose on the deal, because my chain wouldn't last as long.
So it for sure doesn't pay for my saw. I'd just be doing it for less file work at a time.

How about more videos on rope management? That was interesting 👍

It drives me crazy seeing people pin the throttle wide open on these saws. With very lil load, just for the sake of eliminating variables!
I honestly wouldnt do it to my saw. If you do enough cuts using the dogs ull be able to tell which is faster. I just personally feel like its not good on the engine.

2 strokes are meant to run

@@sizemoretreeworksExactly! Idle and partial throttle are not besties with these types of 2-cycle engines.

    East coast wood=full comp>skip tooth.

I think skip still has a place here, just for the right application. Thank you for watching.

i have a husky 562, its a good saw, just not sold on the new 362 stihls yet. when its cutting good, its good. but if you dog into the wood, its stalling out, from not enough torque. i havent tried a skip tooth yet, but that might be where its fits.

The 362 has been out for over a decade. What are u waiting for? Lol their a good saw. I used them at both tree services I worked for. And I now own one myself.

They both have their place and it’s not necessarily an east coast/west coast thing, long bar/short bar, hardwood/softwood. Some of that stuff can be part of it but cutting conditions, the saw, and saw operator have a lot to do with it. It’s the whole cutting job that counts, just because a certain chain cuts a few cookies faster doesn’t always mean that the cutting will get done faster.
