    After he got clean, cut his hair and focused on his music.... this is making me choke up a little. So fucking brilliant.

    This must have been in 2001 as a promotion for the stunning "Field Songs"-album. One of the finest voices ever. I'm happy everytime I see he's still among the living.

    those kids were ready to dance and got ML best career moment. Watching them fully hipnotized render how much big he was alive.

      +geekrockrats The day before yesterday I saw Mark Lanegan live for the first time. You come as a concertgoer and leave as a ...hm.. believer (maybe this is the right word)

    Could easily hear this and think he would get big yet he never got mainstream, perhaps the huge influx of great bands at the time sort of overshadowed him coped with the end of sad 90s band trend, nevertheless mr lanegan left a trail of excellent songs wich i am discovering slowly online.
    It feels hes gonna be one of these artists that only gets due recognition once hes gone (thing i am hoping to happen never)

    @amenglayaran and more than a little bit of tom waits,his voice saves lives. i have no proof of that but i havent had anyone dissagree

    • @jamiehovis7722
      @jamiehovis7722 ปีที่แล้ว

      tom waits didn’t invent singing this way. more likely mark was influenced by charlie patton than tom waits.

    Stop with the Jim Morrison comparisons. He couldn't carry Mark Lanegan's underwear.

    • @louisbatsford8908
      @louisbatsford8908 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I think you mean mark couldn’t carry Jim’s, I like Lanegan, but let’s be honest he hasn’t done anything good since bubblegum, the last four albums and his collaboration with garwood were all mediocre at best, I personally think they are shit. And I would say my favourite albums are whiskey, field songs, scraps, I’ll take care of you , winding sheet and bubblegum, seen him on scraps tour and field songs tour and before with the trees. But he’s no Jim Morrison. I saw him live on Garfield tour and his voice was shot, just not as good as he was, shame

    • @petegallows5494

      Blues Funeral is the absolute best album I have ever heard. His next two albums were still good, the last two I've only listened to once and I deleted them off my phone afterwards, I genuinely disliked them. Same with last two Leonard Cohen albums - I was a bit embarrassed listening to them. As for Mark's singing abilities and voice, I also prefer him over Morrison. Morrison was great, had he lived and matured, he would have gotten even better.

    I have a weird theory but hear me out; ok,i've always noticed that when they do a close up of mark's hands his trademark star knuckle tattoos have mysteriously vanished and i think i've figured out why. this performance was in italy in late 2001 when international travel was obviously a very tense and cautious experiance with threats seemingly coming from anywhere for any reason right? stars are seen as symbols of the U.S. is it possible that one of marks advisors had him put cover up......

  • @TheGnob27

    on said stars so as not to identify him as blatantly american and possibly military to avoid some sort of attack on his group? i think it sounds ridiculous but they were ridiculous times(remember being told to put duct tape on windows to avoid chem. attacks?) thats all i can come up with for an explanation as to why the tatts are not visible. probably wrong,idk.
