My son has been a 777 pilot with Qatar for 5 yrs, and got me a first class ticket to Australia, and being the pilot who flew me back from Melbourne to Doha on the return part of the flight to London. It was a fabulous flight with a great Airline. It was hard to believe that the small child that I bounced on my knee was now in charge of such a huge aircraft with 300 people on board. Del Coleman.

I've been De-icing now at YHZ for a few months. Such a fun job! I don't think we'll see an A380 here but damn that would be satisfying to spray! Thank you for the upload
Better than the cramped "Going Cripple Seven" with its 10 abreast seating. The Airbus A380 feels more stable too. I think the only Boeing product that matches the Airbus A380 product for passenger comfort is the 787 Screamliner.

The video is great but a question came up in my mind let's see if someone can answer it. So there is no visible moisture nor is there snow around we don't know about the temperature. I have learned that for ice to form there a 2 things required visible moisture and temperature. None of them are there so why does he need to anti-ice? I also know that the anti-ice liquid lasts for 45 mins only. Someone reply cause I am curious. ☺

+vishwa naik Hello! It was really cold that day in Paris CDG, about -15 degrees celcius, there was some ice on engine and on the wing, and it can be dangerous for the flight. That's why a de-icing was necessary.
It's to remove the ice on the airplane when the weather is very cold. It's a security process to avoid technical probleme such icing when take off or landing.
It removes the ice from the aircraft because is can cause the the disruption of the airstream of the aircraft which is known as skin friction drag and it will make the aircraft harder to take off ..
+Sameer H, Alhamid Because of the very cold weather, there is some ice on the plane, in the engines, on the tail, flaps etc... So if we don't de-ice these parts of the planes, it's possible that some problems happen during the flight and bring dangers for passengers and safety.
ice on flight surfaces such as wing area and vertical and horizontal stabilizers can affect the air crafts ability to fly. ice on the wing could interrupt the flow of air over the wings which should be faster than the flow under the wing. if that occurs there is reduced lift which could be disastrous

I'm surprised they don't have a more efficient way of de-icing planes. Something like robots or a car wash-style de-icer may help cut down on delays.
Obviously you would want some people supervising to make sure all the ice is off...

Most ice is quite thin and almost invisible. But it is still there. And this also done so there is no new ice accumulation before takeoff.
