  • A retired doctor with a rather special car is concerned about its health. Is the patient's condition as bad as the doctor feared?

Thank you so much to the Car Sanctuary for filming our father with his beloved Humber and posting it on TH-cam. Dad passed away in July of this year after a cancer diagnosis, so we were really thrilled to come across this video and will treasure it. Dad has left the Humber to my son, who also has a passion for old cars. He will treasure it and keep it in the family. He's 22.

Hello Emma. Thank you for your kind words and for letting me know about your Dad. Brian told me of his illness over the phone, but was hopeful he would attend the Humber International Rally (which I couldn't get to myself). I tried to call a few times afterwards to ask how he was, but this would have been around July/August. It was an honour to have known your father, who was a true gentleman, and I enjoyed every moment of his company. I hope you don't mind my informing the Humber club of the sad news. Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.

Thank you so much for your lovely words about Dad and I’d be very happy for you to inform the Humber Club. Perhaps my two sons will attend a rally with his Humber one day.

Thank you. I discovered the A-S connection soon after I bought my own car, as the engine was different to Rootes' usual practice.

It doesnt get better than this. I thoroughly enjoyed hearing you both chat together. I loved the idea that the Doctors Father had purchased the beautiful Humber new. Wouldnt he like to see his now much older son , still driving it. Great to hear you both enjoying this beautiful car together, with age making no difference as two friends . As it should be. I just loved the whole thing. Cheers, John (Australia)...I had a 1965 Humber Super Snipe Series V for 26years. I absolutely loved it.

Thank you for your kind words. I don’t think many folk could say they still have the same car after all this time.

Marvellous video but there's something I don't get. After the accident, work was needed on the front chromework but certain parts could not be obtained. When the second lot of major work was done, nearly 40 years later, those parts wouldn't be any easier to find. So how is it that the front of the car is now immaculate?

I believe the chrome was sourced later when the cars had passed through the old banger stage and people began stripping them for parts to retain. The internet has also made finding parts so much easier, but body panels and trim were always a problem.
