    My mind is blown. I had never heard of the gene therapy to create all female eggs. Very interesting. Thank you for sharing and please keep the videos coming.

    Brilliant! It is SO good to have a expert/insider providing information about food production. Our industrial food system is far removed from natural food growing. Just one more reason to grow my own. Thanks so much!

    Hi there. I like to go organic with the fish. I rather like the idea of feeding the fish with duckweed rather than pellets. Will the fish just as quick, going down the organic route? 👍👍👍 what her saying with the fish. It's best to keep the fish young and small rather than letting them grow into adulthood ?

    Hi there! 😀 I was wondering how you got male trouts if all what farms sell are females. Thank you for all this precious information! 🙂

    • @AquaponicsRevolution
      @AquaponicsRevolution  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes Jorge, it can be challenging to find a male and female population, you need to contact the farms around and ask if they can supply a male and female population.

    Wow, wow, wow! My mind is still spinning!
    Does this apply to all kinds of trout?
    How young should the female be when she's given the testosterone?
    Thanks so much for such precious information!

    • @AquaponicsRevolution
      @AquaponicsRevolution  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Karla, this applies mostly to the Rainbow trouts which probably covers 99% of the market.
      Cheers

    How do you balance the water temperatures needed for plants vs. those needed by the fish? I thought trout couldn't be used because their water temperature needs are too cold for plants. Or are you growing plants that like 60 degree Fahrenheit water?

    • @AquaponicsRevolution
      @AquaponicsRevolution  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah, Trout are OK below 23C. Lots of plants can grow in those conditions but if you have warmer water you can grow other species such as tilapia/catfish/carps/perch...
      Depending on the area where you live :)

    So my question is.. the hormones that's given to the fish,that will be in their system during their life span until they are served on a plate. Will that have an effect to humans when consumed?

    • @turningpoint4238
      @turningpoint4238 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      The hormones are given to the mother fish and we eat the offspring that are all female and haven't been exposed to any hormone treatment.

  • @ErosAnteros
    @ErosAnteros 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Fascinant! Quelles hormones utilise-t-on pour la trans-gonadogenie? Sont elles que des androgènes comme celles des humains? Ceçi ne peut pas marcher pour les hermaphrodites successifs comme les barras, non?

    • @AquaponicsRevolution
      @AquaponicsRevolution  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Nic, In the hatchery I worked for we used to do it with the methyltestosterone but I know that other hormones are used by other hatcheries. Cheers

    Another way to increase size of fish is high oxygen level in the water not from aeration but pumping pure oxygen in the water along with the regular aeration. Commercial aquaponics farms or at least a few do this.

    le point dont du parles, c un peu l'adolescence du poisson, on peut certainement L’Appelé le "tipping point" en anglais. Sinon pour les poissons d'élevage, donne pas envie de les manger, je préfère manger la salade qu'il vont aider à faire pousser !
