Lyrics^^ I sing of the tales of the wanderer, The rider of Yggdrasill. He gave up an eye into Mimir's well, Where deeply, he drank his fill. For nine long nights, old Hárr, hung he In search of the spoken spell. The runes that he found drew sounds for man, And down, from the tree, he fell. A snake, he slid through Gunnloð's court, The mead of poetry sought. Three sips, and he fled as eagle's wing, By Suttung, was never caught. Two sticks on a beach Hárbarð had found, His brothers heard his call. He gave his own breath and his blood to the wood, And told them of his Hall. Valhalla holds the Einherjar, Who'll fight on Vigrið plain. As Fenrir sinks his fangs to the bone, The life of Odin will wane. Fear not, my kin, of the Ragnarók, For Fimbultýr truly has won. He saw his own death at the end of time, And whispered this to his son.
I have an original song that I wrote for Odin about a year ago. I'd be happy to give you the rights to it, if you like it and want to use it. Your voice is perfect for this kind of music. :)
I don't have it posted anywhere, but I could email you the recording (it's my own voice, and yours would be tons better). Here are the lyrics: allpoetry.com/poem/10502053-Odinn-by-JD-Evermore
Amazing! I remember hearing the original version and loving it, then when you started humming it I thought "No way..." When the lyrics started, I was instantly entranced. Please keep doing more songs and may the All-Father look warmly in your direction, always.
This song is sacred galdr to my ears. That was a truly transcendent experience, and an amazingly accomplished rendition. Warrior or no, I would say you have a place in vallhalla for your voice alone, one would think you drank from the mead of poetry as well. I can not praise this rendition enough. Well done, kinsman.
i LOVED IT. love from India.love your culture.loved it,want to learn more about your culture. and i am very very happy to know that you are tracing back your culture, back to your original roots that you ancestors gave it to you and blessed by your Gods.May the Gods guide you to the light of heavens .
I will be adding your voice to my midwinter festival so that all of my friends may hear you, I am certain the Allfather himself would appreciate your talents.
My husband introduced this song to me when I was pregnant, and would play it every day for our son. When he was born, it helped him sleep for a good 6 months, then I kinda forgot to play it. It's been 2 years since I've played this for him... he can still fall asleep to it. Nice cause I thought he was gonna keep me up all night 🤣 (late nap iykyk)

Alchemical Poetry www.newgrounds.com/audio/listen/583386 here I am telling the story of the binding of Fenrir the Wolf. Stories are all we have left to pass on these days
Truely a great tribute to Odin, or Wodan as we call him in the eastern part of the Netherlands. Great voice! Great song that makes me proud of my heritage.
Amazing song. With a voice like that that you may consider doing "Far Over the Misty Mountains Cold", with the full lyrics from the book of course. I would also enjoy hearing more for the gods and goddesses. Thank you for sharing this.
Hey @Alchemical Poetry, I don't know to tag people in a post because I've never tried to before. I want you to know about how much this song means to me. I have been an orthodox worshiper of Odin for something like 12 years, (I am 23). I think about this song a lot when I'm in bad situations and find it absolutely beautiful. I can't sing very well but I try hard to sing this when I am alone. This song sends chills through my body and makes me feel good. When I die, I will have your voice playing this at my funeral on a repeat before my body is laid to burn. I thank you very much for this. It has meant a lot to my life and my worship of the Alfather. Hail Odin.
Pretty cool man! Explanation for anyone who wants it: "The Wanderer" is another one of the more than 200 Kennings/Heitis/Names for Odin. A list of other names for Odin (according to the Prose Edda) are located at the bottom. I don't understand "The rider of Yggdrasil" because Yggdrasil is a tree. I could only imagine Odin riding his eight-legged steed, Sleipnir. "Gave up an eye...drank his fill" is from the story of Odin pledging his eye in Mímisbrunnr (Mimir's well) for supreme knowledge. "For nine...he fell," in general, refers to Odin hanging upside-down, impaled by his own spear, for nine days and nights with no food nor mead. Old Hárr is Old Norse for "grey-haired" and is an Kenning for Odin. "A snake...never caught" refers to the story in which Odin changes into a snake in order to sneak into a mountain, after which, he shape-shifts into a handsome giant to charm the daughter of a giant into letting him drink a potion that granted wisdom and the gift of poetry. This potion was made by dwards who killed Kvasir and used his blood mixed with honey to make the potion. They then show where Odin speaks about Valhalla, where the Einherjar, which means "single fighters" in Old Norse, live. They drink and yoik and fight in the courtyard and die only to be resurrected the next day and repeat it all again. This happens until Ragnarok begins. fenrir will be the one to kill Odin. "Fimbultyr" is a shortening of "Fimbulvetr' (Old Norse for "mighty winter"). This mighty winter is preceeded by 3 winters and will be 3 more winters itself and these events are the beginnings of Ragnarok. Names for Odin: All-Father Ygg Svafnir Herran or Herjan Nikar or Hnikar Nikuz or Hnikuz Fjolnir Oski Omi Biflidi or Biflindi Svidar Svidrir Vidrir Jalg or Jalk

HAIL!!! I heard this a while back while beginning to get in to Asatru. I've been a singer all my life and i get goosebumps every time. May the Gods bless you.
Anyone else converted temselves ? Like not as a joke or meme but as an actual religion . To me i found that the norse gods of war are the only that holds any meaning and when i pray to them especially Odin i feel filled with an intense vigor and even bloodlust Ps- im a boxer so being able to offer actual combat to him really makes me boil
My friend, I have been listening to your rendition of this song for 3 years, and I am sad this is the first time I am commenting. This has bolstered me and given me strength in my beliefs so many times, and I am proud of you. I finally had my 20 yr old oldest daughter listened to you sing tonight, and she said she felt as if she had listened to an angel singing. Please keep singing songs of our people....you make them proud.
GREAT A Cappella WOW :) Mind if i "Steal" it and make a video on it ? If i can make a good one ofc. :P With credits to you for the singing ? Well atleast i put this in my favorit song on facebook :) ofcourse with credits to you and link to your channel !
I can't stop listening to this song. Truly you've been gifted with the Mead of Poetry, brother. Lift up that skald's voice, and use it in praise to the Gods all your days. For the bard's song will be all that remains.
This is brilliant and so evocative, please keep producing such wonderful songs and music, I've listened to this heaps now, it just keeps sounding better! Thank you for sharing it.
Do You maybe have sheet music for this song? I think it is in a minor key but i'm not sure. At least getting the chords would be great. Thanks in advance.
I worship our all father Odin as a reformed Asatru. This song is great and not to sound greedy but we need more good songs like this. For our bards need songs to praise our gods. I wish so many songs that we can AGAIN! Can challenge all religions with our songs of wisdom and encouragement for them who are lost. Good songs can lift your spirit. This song can. ;-) Enjoy... and listen... By Frey: My endless thanks to the songwriter... My best wishes: P. H. Hyltoft...
Wow!! Nicely done!! Love the vocal layering for some excellent harmony. Great job. :) Is this track available for purchase? I like to support Heathen artists. :)
Wauw! I am amazed! Is it possible to get the notes for the song? And would you care to share the other you's/voices, its hard to heard them clearly, when I want my children I school to learn. You inspired our work with the norse myth in a Waldorf schools 4th grade, and we would love to make this on the scene for our yearly Christmas Basar. I hope you can help us. Otherwise thanks for at beautiful and powerful version os this song!
I love the original but ur a capella version os so intrancing. Its got danish throat singing vibe. 👏 👏 a truly amazing job that surely caught the eye of The All Father even if just for a moment. Well done.
Hail min skæld you got me goosebumps... I think that we now have new music for the next Blót. It's only sad that my morfar couldn't hear it in the halls of Valhalla.
Valr = warrior Hall = Hall in swedish = Krigarens Sal = Valhalla in english = Hall of the warrior Valknut= Knot of the "Valr", the triangle symbol you can see everywhere in norse mytholigy.
you sir, have the voice of a god! blessed be! May you be besieged by beautiful maidens.never shalt thy bed be cold.the skalds will tell your tale for ages to come.
This is one of those songs that you just listen to and you're immediately like :O (ooooooh) I , cannot describe the beauty of this song well done sir. Just beautiful.
May Odin give you wisdom on your path, may Thor give you courage on your way, and may Loki grant you laughter as you go. Skal!
Sorry but tyr would give him courage not thor
Loki betrayed the Gods. He’s not a comedian, he committed deicide!

Nah, he isn't that bad.
Only a Christian petaq could dislike this. The only way this could be more ball-enlargingly awesome would be if it were in Old Norse.

@Hilmar Odinson That makes a lot of symbolic sense if it's saying he caused himself to be born to himself if his spear is his penis
This is amazing, I love it! Nordic songs are scarce enough, but to combine it A Capella like this (one of my favorite mediums).... Just wow.

Car Fimbultýr a vraiment gagné
Il a vu sa propre mort à la fin des temps
Et il a murmuré ça à son fils
Wow, amazing, absolutely amazing!

fuck dude, that is some awesome shit
Great job! Out of curiosity, what program did you use to edit this?
Thank you, Joshua Landau! I edited the audio with Pro Tools SE (although now I use Logic Pro X) and the video with Adobe Premiere Pro CS6.
Awesome ! Your voice and the song is amazing ! she comes from the heart ! Great performance ! Subscribed to your channel ;-)
Do You maybe have sheet music for this song? I think it is in a minor key but i'm not sure. At least getting the chords would be great. Thanks in advance.
You are a truly Skald, brother, may the Gods protect you, and may the Lord of Thunder helps you during your fights.
Such passion. Do you have an album out? Are there any other songs about Norse legend you could sing?
VERY POWERFULL AND STRONG!FIRE!
The song of BROTHERS HARALD & HALFDAN may be cool done your performance!!!
What amazing song what a talent the Gods had blessed you with.
This song can. ;-)
Enjoy... and listen...
By Frey: My endless thanks to the songwriter...
My best wishes: P. H. Hyltoft...
Wow!! Nicely done!! Love the vocal layering for some excellent harmony. Great job. :) Is this track available for purchase? I like to support Heathen artists. :)
Wow. I like this even more than the original version. It's totally epic :-O Great Job
you seemed surprised with 300 likes 1 year ago, I myself am suprised you still have only about 2000 likes today... your video is really great!
Well done.
By the Gods!! What an amazing song, you truly have the skaldic gift! May the Gods watch over your battles friend. Skål!
que letra incrivel .. conta praticamente toda historia de Odin kk
Heil Victory, Odin! I Love You My God! Greetings Great Bard!
Absolutely stunning! Have just sent to husband Kveldulfr Gundarsson (aka Stephan Grundy) Odin's man and lover of bass voices!
Hail min skæld
you got me goosebumps...
I think that we now have new music for the next Blót.
It's only sad that my morfar couldn't hear it in the halls of Valhalla.
Valr = warrior
Hall = Hall
in swedish = Krigarens Sal = Valhalla
in english = Hall of the warrior
Valknut= Knot of the "Valr", the triangle symbol you can see everywhere in norse mytholigy.
you sir, have the voice of a god! blessed be! May you be besieged by beautiful maidens.never shalt thy bed be cold.the skalds will tell your tale for ages to come.
Really nice song. Reminds me of Sovngarde from the Skyrim OST.
This is awesome!!! Please get this on iTunes, I'll be the first to buy it, I promise! xD But seriously, this is amazing!! More a Capella please!
The Song was sang prefect. This will show many of our young where they came from.
I'm teaching my 4th grader a norse myths block. So perfect!!!! Beautiful!
Dude by far coolest fucking thing I’ve seen in a long time. Thank you. Keep doing what you’re doing.
I love this song, as one who shares a passion for norse lore and mythology its hard to find songs like this.
