Former Kentucky hoops great and NBA player, Rex Chapman talks to Karen about his addiction to pills. (Tune in to The Karen Hunter Show on Urban View, M-F, 3 p.m. ET on the SiriusXM app and make it a favorite).
I am glad that he’s trying to mentor the younger players. Reaching one is totally worth the attempt. He sounds strong and determined. I wish him nothing but success during this difficult journey through recovery. Thank you Karen for bringing yet another inspiring story to the forefront.
I love it when people open up about their lives. I hope those young ballplayers are listening and learning. All too often, we see ballplayers abuse drugs and their finance only to regret it in their old age.
I😂 used to say the same thing, I had surgeries at a young age and I fell in love with vicadin and I thought people liked me better, but I have been sober now and I'm 53 and I think I'm starting to find myself and I wanted to tell you thank you, I am looking forward to reading your story 🙏❤️
For the two years he played at UK, he was possibly the most fun to watch of any college player I ever saw. Every game he was going to do something that made you say, "Wow".
Such a great dude .. stole 14 thousand dollars worth of apple products and pawned them .. great guy ... uploads a photo of clarence thomas and his wife as if to say look at clarence thomas and his white wife ! He is a racist ahit stain ! I hope he can go the rest of the year without saying something racist about clarence thomas ! That would be a good start !
He's not lying here. Oxycontins makes you feel so good you feel more empathy towards others. You want everybody to feel this way. You do lose track of time too. The lows(withdrawls) are more intense than the highs by far. In the first years of oxycontins I was prescribed 450 80mg. Pills a month. 15 a day. The Dr. Didn't know yet that he was crazily overprescribing me as Purdue pharma valued profits over lives( young ones predominantly). How do you spell sociopathic drug dealer? S a c k l e r.
Speaking of NBA basketball. My monthly leftovers were stolen one month and made its way to the staples center as a menu item(unpublished) at Laker games. There was complaints though as mine looked like little green footballs and this was basketball
Stay healthy Rex,,you have a very likeable open/honest personality,,takes a brave man to do what your doing now. Maybe a trip to O'boro? Dust bowl? DB Rec center?
You have made it through the tunnel. When in doubt…. Try what I do….. I listen to the Grateful Dead song “Ripple”. I’ve been down your road of addiction This song is my Nirvana If not this song, find your own and keep it on your phone. Love you💙. Go Big Blue
Got the same story minus the basketball part , injury, multiple surgeries, pain pills and wow I like these and I was hooked. Im in recovery but it's still a battle I'll face the rest of my days. It can happen to you, so never say never.i got humbled real quick.
Wow this was a great interview...Rex was my one of my favs at Kentucky....exciting player....never knew he was going through all those issues....God bless him and his family
I adored this guy and his mad baller skills back in the day! But that is nothing in comparison to my gratitude and admiration for his courage to be such an authentic human being decades later. Being up on a pedestal has its perks, but the typical challenges and downfalls of being human smack you that much harder. Sending much love and appreciation to Rex for sharing his journey with us. I'm so happy he has made it to the other side of these challenges. Thank you Karen and Rex for bringing forth this raw and real interview.
I hope he’s got is life together. I fought painkiller addiction for over 6 years.. but for him to say he doesn’t remember stealing from the Apple store is crap. I did the exact same thing.. retail theft. You know exactly what you’re doing

I was a big fan of the Hornets during his time with the team; it’s nice to see that he’s still getting notoriety.
I hope he’s got is life together. I fought painkiller addiction for over 6 years.. but for him to say he doesn’t remember stealing from the Apple store is crap. I did the exact same thing.. retail theft. You know exactly what you’re doing

What is the Doctor’s name and why did he prescribe oxy for appendix?
This doesn't look like the Rex Chapman I remember.
