    Mike when you dig, always put your tracks with you, and the blade in front of you, that will give you more pulling and digging power, and you won’t be tipping the machine so much.

      I go in flat with the ground and let the bucket use the ground as leverage with the teeth stuck in the stump, no matter how you’re sat in the machine all the weight is on the wrist of the bucket, maybe try it and see if you get what I mean

    I vote for a “features” tour! I’d also like to see you do one stump with a BX to show that it can be done. I would be amazed if you can do the 10 foot stump drop with the BX 😱. Love the channel.

    • @rodneyross5282
      @rodneyross5282 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I personally know it can be done with a little BX. Believe me it takes a while.

    • @jimduke5545
      @jimduke5545 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Rodney Ross Oh, I know you can dig out the stump, even drop a tree, with the BX. I didn’t say it couldn’t be done. I just don’t recall seeing it on TH-cam and the time spent doing it (ripping roots, moving backhoe, clearing dirt...) is just one part of what I dread. Mike (or Mellissa 😉) might have better techniques that viewers (at least me!) would enjoy seeing. I think 10 foot stump drop with a BX would require he pick up the BX/stump with the excavator first 🤣. Just moving that stump to his root/stump pile with a BX would probably be...instructive.

    I rented an excavator about the same size a month ago to remove 14 huge stumps. Each one took 20 to 30 min to get out, the were old growth fir with huge roots. Was a really fun day! Saved a huge amount of time, I have a kubota but its too small for this type of work. The rental was well worth the cost.

      It is funny, I did the same thing in Illinois. I started taking a jug of coolaid to an excavator working in our neighborhood digging basements and laying water pipe. Eventually I ended up riding in the big equipment, pulling levers etc. All the other kids were jealous. What a blast. I held the stick when he shot levels etc too. A kids dream.

    That first cherry tree stump put up a fight. Mike had the rear of the excavator lifted a couple times trying to break off the roots. The machine certainly did make short work of pulling out the stumps. Can't want to see the pond dredging operation with that long boom arm.

I think you could have dug down 4-5 feet and still found dust !! The farmers in your area (unless they have irrigation set up) must be having an awful time with their crops this year. Mike, I like watching you operate the excavator as well as your tractors. You do a good job operating equipment which make it entertaining for others to watch. Keep the good work up.

    I normally run a CAT 316 excavator but we rented a Kubota mini for some tile and drainage and it absolutely impressed me with the work I got done with it. I think there just might be some letsdig (Chris) influence 😀. I’ve definitely learned some tricks from watching Chris 👍. Happy digging Mike I know you have probably one hell of a list to get done with that Kubota 💪

    There’s just something exciting about running a nice excavator like that. Stick a couple of those root balls upside down in your pond. Makes good fish habitat. Have a great weekend! Jason from Indiana.

    Nice machine Mike...For small tractor/backhoes folks, that first stump would be at least a full evening after work. I recently did a maple stump about another half bigger than this and took me probably 3 different goes at it for an hour or two each go.

    WOW .... Very Impressive. When you are going to a street fight, always take a big friend... That shovel made quick work of the stumps as well as quick work of cleaning the stumps. If you owned that unit you could fell trees quicker than with a chain saw ;). Buckin' Billy may want one... Being a great operator you make it look easy.

    Good choice Mike. It look like it took 8 minutes to get that stump out including cleaning and dropping. I can't wait till the next video.
