    Mike when you dig, always put your tracks with you, and the blade in front of you, that will give you more pulling and digging power, and you won’t be tipping the machine so much.

    In the mid 60's, my dad stopped at H.E. with my brother and I. We passed it frequently. Dad had us stand in front of what was then a giant earth moving machine. About 35 years later I did the same with my kids. About time to do it with the grand kids. Thanks for the memories. PS obviously you have a few hours in an excavator. Nice video.

    Hey Mike, I'm glad you changed excavator position to dig out that first stump. In sideways position you were really rockin' it.

      I go in flat with the ground and let the bucket use the ground as leverage with the teeth stuck in the stump, no matter how you’re sat in the machine all the weight is on the wrist of the bucket, maybe try it and see if you get what I mean

    I rented an excavator about the same size a month ago to remove 14 huge stumps. Each one took 20 to 30 min to get out, the were old growth fir with huge roots. Was a really fun day! Saved a huge amount of time, I have a kubota but its too small for this type of work. The rental was well worth the cost.

    I vote for a “features” tour! I’d also like to see you do one stump with a BX to show that it can be done. I would be amazed if you can do the 10 foot stump drop with the BX 😱. Love the channel.

    • @rodneyross5282
      @rodneyross5282 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I personally know it can be done with a little BX. Believe me it takes a while.

    • @jimduke5545
      @jimduke5545 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Rodney Ross Oh, I know you can dig out the stump, even drop a tree, with the BX. I didn’t say it couldn’t be done. I just don’t recall seeing it on TH-cam and the time spent doing it (ripping roots, moving backhoe, clearing dirt...) is just one part of what I dread. Mike (or Mellissa 😉) might have better techniques that viewers (at least me!) would enjoy seeing. I think 10 foot stump drop with a BX would require he pick up the BX/stump with the excavator first 🤣. Just moving that stump to his root/stump pile with a BX would probably be...instructive.

    I have a Kubota B2920 with a BH6.5 Backhoe and I dug about a 30" hemlock stump out that was right beside my shed so I couldn't get to one side. I ended putting about 2.5 hours on my tractor before I was able to finally get it pulled out of the massive hole I made around it. I also live in new Hampshire and the ground is incredibly rocky that digging is tough! I know it took a while but I don't use the backhoe every day so being able to remove that stump was great!
