That loon call is so soothing
Never once in my life have I thought of this sound as creepy, eerie, or sad. It’s comforting. I grew up very fortunate with family having a summer cabin on a lake. Summer day of hard play, full sun, swimming, boating, sunburn, getting into bed and sleeping to loons calling on a calm lake. Or some nights with rain hitting the roof and leaves outside. Beautiful noises of comfort.
I find their sound equally relaxing!
I have a cottage on a lake that i go to in the summer, and on the other side of the lake is preserved nesting grounds for loons every night you can hear they’re calls echoing across the lake. it’s otherworldly to hear these birds. it is such a gift and a blessing to have these sounds integrated into my childhood. It puts me in awe and im extremely grateful for these birds having a part in relaxing me as a child and putting me to sleep for all those years

Ive been on a good run where I keep seeing loons while im out fishing. Their breath holding is incredible when they dive. I love the sound of their calls as well. Great footage in this video. It’s pretty cool the way the chicks ride on their parent’s backs. We love them here in Minnesota.

Back when I was in the army my battalion was inspected by a General, the only one I had ever seen. He stopped in front of me and asked me where I was from. When I told him I was from Minnesota he asked, "what is the state bird of Minnesota?". I smiled and sounded off as loud as I could, "THE COMMON LOON, SIR!".

🇩🇰🇹🇹I only recently, learned about this water bird duck this month Feb, 2022.
I have a Caucasian American 🇺🇸 friend who lives in Minnesota, USA.
He WhatsApp me a TH-cam video of this water bird. He told me, that when he wants to sleep he listen to the loon bird😊. I told him when he wants to sleep he should listen 🎧 to me, haha.
Anyhow, I never knew about this water bird. I didn’t even know it was a water bird duck until he told me.
Well, I got curious, I had to GOOGLE up to know more about this beautiful water bird duck…
I love the sound of the water birds. There’re 4-5 different species of loon water birds….and each species have a different sound.

Got a cottage up north, and in the neighborhood we have a private lake. There's a lagoon in the back and there's a pair of these that must nest back there. I see them just about every time I'm out kayaking. Very pretty birds.

Beautifull docu, further are the loons in the video the same species that lives on Iceland? I think I saw one in a coastal water body when traveling by car to snæfelnesjökull a few days ago, Iceland has Beautifull and interesting bird species as well,also loons. Greetings!👋🦆🦢🐧🦉🦅
