Sera excels with 2 drops. Sera in Surfer is only good for a surprise turn 6. But they know it’s coming lol. A 3 drop and 2 drop on 5 and 2 3 drops on 6 vs Sera on 5 and 3 3 drops on 6. Kinda favors no Sera as far as power goes.
I'm surprised Snowguard didn't come up in the top 10 for Surfer cards, even in honorable mentions. That card is super flexible. You mentioned Crimson Cosmos. Snowguard is the most reliable way to get 3 cost cards into it.
Same it is a sleeper still. i saw Revis showcase a surfer deck that got top 4/8 or something like that and snowguard was in it and then i added it to my surfer list and now it is my favorite card to draw. Scares the pants off the Magik players if it doesnt you will win an 8 cuber. and gives you access to closed locations.
Interesting thoughts on Surfer. While he cannot clear a storm lane that was iffy anyway. I prefer him only moving face up cards because that way if I have priority I know what he is moving. I never drag a big card into a storm lane, or grab a face down when I want to move the face up card.
Had my fastest climb to infinite ever with Shaw. Had a bad month previous so I started at 43, and made infinite in just two days running a control/combo Shaw Surfer list.

Great video! One of my favorites so far. Though I must say, the disrespect to Wolfsbane in the top 10 surfer cards is painful lol. I fully agree that Shaw and Maximus provide a great vertical stat line, but before shaw came out Wolfsbane was my number 1 vertical card on turn 6 or 7. Whether its in combination with brood to overtake their big play, or just to stack up a low power lane (especially with sera), you can almost guarantee a swing no one ever expects. Now with shaw, including nova and killmonger makes it easier too, Nova acts as a an easy way to boost Wolfsbane up before you killmonger and give everyone a buff. Especially considering she counts unrevealed cards. You combine those 2 cards (which most of the time they work really well with brood/Shaw) you can get the same/better stats with Wolfsbane as something like a maximus without a downside, and no one ever expects it. She is severely underrated in surfer.
Thanks the for the content, one of the only podcasts I’ve actually stuck with and easily one of the best parts of my Monday. Shaw has been the perfect definition of what a season pass card should be, not too broken but can shine in the right situations
fwiw I think I lean towards Alex's thinking on Surfer more than Cozy's. Sera for I'm probably somewhere between, I don't rate too highly because the season I got Infinite with Surfer I wasn't using her, old Spidey was there as my build was more controlling (plus Goose is awkward with her). Now, the 3*3 play is obviously a great finish but Surfer + Abs is also a surprise opponents don't tend to calculate. Maybe I'm too caught up with the new shiny that is Sebastian Shaw but I've found he's changed how I build the deck and the old Storm + Juggs combo has been left to the side because I'm all about maximum power output and they are quite low and take board space. The other thing I found awkward, especially if Werewolf is in the deck, is the amount of lockdown or just other Storms would mean you'd end up with little to no space and make yours (and my) no.1 a game losing card rather than a winner. As a side note going of off one of the topics on Cozy's side. This is the deck where I found I didn't think Chavez was complete trash, but she still is just a more expensive, less easily planned for Forge. Who once again takes board space up that Forge has a good chance of relieving if needed thanks to the Skillmonger.

Thank you guys for this top ten, I LOVE Surfer and he’s been my main deck since I started playing back in august. Shaw is a great addition to the 3-cost pull and it’s been a lot of fun to play around him.
I agree on the top 2 for Surfer, but for me #3 is Sera, the 3* 3 costs on turn 6 is what makes Surfer scary, when its only 2 I feel like it is far easier to gameplan, predict, and counter what's coming down, but Surfer has enough variation that it's really the 3rd one that creates an unpredictable X factor. My number 4 would be Killmonger and my number 5 is Nova, Surfer being overloaded with 3 costs inherently creates some awkward turns where you are likely to float energy and the amount of power Nova provides the deck for 1 energy is absurd.
Mail Bag: What do you think rework to kang should be ? My friend and I were talking about him having the same effect but replace kang after the rewind with one of his other variants and they each have their own effects and stat lines.
Spider man makes it possible for werewolf to hump into the brood lane. He will jump to replace him. Totally not a problem to put brood and wolf together if you think it out
Shaw is the nuts in early pool 3, but only gets better when you get more tools to buff him and protect him. I got werewolf by night in my spotlight cache and falcon earlier last week so ive been running a weird bounce buff list with shaw and werewolf and finding success with it.

Just saying: I won my first-ever Infinity Conquest with a Ronin Surfer deck. last turn Maximus Surfer or Mystique Maximus is a big spike if you've already hit em with Master Mold.
oh man... this was several months ago - if I had to guess at recreating it - aka just make a new one that I would use now since several things have changed - 1) the Ronan package: Ronan, Maximus, Mastermold, Mystique. 2) the Surfer power: Surfer, Sebastian Shaw, Brood, Forge. and 3) flexible slots, but I tend to lean heavily towards control here: Snowguard, Goose, Storm, Killmonger. I believe back in the day I ran both Jean Grey and Invisible Woman with it. @@javonh6761
you don't even have to have the Mystique to be honest - Mystique may be the first card to cut since she only has 2 possible targets - only 1 you'll usually want to hit. And that can only happen on turn 6. Not very flexible.
in fact I already changed my mind. cut Mystique and put in IW. she lets you play Maximus on curve so you can play a different 3 cost on 6, hide ronan to keep him safe, play mastermold without giving them sentinels if you're not gonna be able to prevent a draw with it, etc. Flexibility is the best way to win and Sebastian Shaw exists now so Mystique isn't the only other option for a tall card.
I think Ronan’s biggest problem is that, if you build around him and DON’T draw him… you’re screwed. You just give a load of cards to your opponent and don’t have enough to do anything back!
Mailbag: do you think you could do a list where we give you our best decks and you could pick, I don't know, like the best 3 for you, and give us some suggestion as well as some of your playtest? We could maybe find hiden jems as well as to learn some serious combos from you both masters
Surfer is always getting some new cards to play with. I feel like they make alot of 3 costs cards. So stacked at the 3. My top 10 surfer cards 1. Brood 2. Werewolf 3. Snowguard; She gives you 1 very useful 3 cost that wins you alot of games. 4. Goose 5. Sera 6. Spiderman 7. Polaris 8. Shaw 9. Forge 10. Juggernaut Honorable Mentions: Maximus, introduction of Blob make this a card to watch as a counter and best base stated 3 cost. Storm, Juggs combo is sick 70% of the time you almost guarantee a lane everytime.
Whoa! I’m surprised neither of you mentioned Wong + Mystique in your top 10 SS lists.. Maybe I’m greedy, but that combo ALWAYS makes my list. There’s also Magik.. she’s an honorable mention, but facilitates the combo above - AND she has SS synergy. Turn 3 Magik > Turn 4 or 5 Wong > Turn 6 Mystique + Surfer > Turn 7 Odin or Absorbing Man… 🫨 how come none of them made the cut?
My answer would be an "item" season. Akin to Hulk buster, Quinjet, Helacarrier, Cerebro Mjolnir, Ebony Blade, etc. How about something spicy like Eye of Agamotto, Tesseract, Infinity Gauntlet, The 10 Rings, Capt's Shield, Silver Surfer's Board, Ghost Riders Hell Bike, Web Shooters, The Darkhold, Terrigen Mist/Crystals, Excalibur, Gem of Cyttorak, The Blackbird, etc

I don't see why Cozy views Sera as an instant win condition. I mean, playing her on five means you have sacrificed playing a 3-drop on five, so that you can play it on six. Is her 4 power that big of an addition? Especially when you can play a 2-drop with the 3-drop on turn five.
Mail bag: can you discuss thoughts on monetization development over time? Recent bundles $60-100 with mostly 1200 gold variants in shop… not really feeling incentivized to buy anything. The value isn’t there. $100 for two low mid cards and 10,000 tokens… baiting for the giant pile of tokes. I want to engage with the albums but I just can’t bring myself to do it.

I got to Infinite this season with a Shaw Surfer deck that doesn't run Sera 👀 I started the season running a more conventional Sera Surfer Shaw deck and got slammed in maybe my third game by this Surfer deck running loads of 1 drops and WWBN... and it was inspirational, you know? Climbed from 73 to Infinite in two days with a cook inspired by it. Forge Spider-Ham Nico Snowguard Okoye Surfer Cosmo Juggernaut Killlmonger Nakia WWBN Shaw It takes a bit of learning to play. Not playing your 1 drops too early, planning where your WWBN is gonna go with your 1 drops on T4 and 5, Killmongering late to free up space for WWBN, winning priority and using Cosmo or Juggernaut aggressively. Juggernaut is in the slot I used to run Spider-Man but I found the change to him an effective nerf in this deck. Negasonic works well in this slot too. (Juggernaut is a greedier pick.) People never expect Killmonger because you're not running Nova and you've got so many of your own 1 drops. Cosmo protects your Shaw, and counters things like IW Hela (which is the personal bane of my existence). A lot of the success of this kind of deck is it is extremely surprising! (And feels totally mad to play, let alone play against.) But it works!
I’m not in the nerf WBN camp, I feel like it would destroy his viability on turn six, just to make up for his potential as a turn three play. I just feel like you should retreat if they have the set up and be done with it. I don’t think I’ve even seen him once this week anyway.
My Deck With 1. Forge / Nova 2. Okoye / Carnage 3. Brood / Shaw / Surfer / Monger / Gladiator / Maximus / Daken / Cosmo ALWAYS WINS! Even when Gladiator wins it for the other player it still wins.
Mailbag: Can you think of any card effects to push a new architype? For example, I'd like to see a card that gains power if your opponent doesn't draw a card when they should. This could give use to cards like Crystal, Master Mold and Baron Mordo.
MAILBAG QUESTION: Is it fair for The "special" tasks to involve using a "premium" card especially for the F2P players who earnestly save their tokens? Apparently in order to get 400 tokens you have to either use your spotlights or shell out 3K-6k tokens just to earn 400...not very enticing as it appears???
Regarding Coke vs. Pepsi - Remember that different regions have different bottling plants with different recipes. I greatly prefer Diet Coke in most of the eastern US, but in Ontario, I prefer Diet Pepsi.

Speaking of the Daken comparison. Something that always confused me is why does the shard cost 1? Mjolnir is a 0/0 so why can’t the shard be the same? I don’t think it makes him THAT much stronger but it does buff him enough to be played outside of just discard decks
MAILBAG: how does the game dicate what happens first when thing get move like moving a cosmo to a different lane but the on reveal card still resolve. Another example is when two captain marvel is on the board and one seem to fly to when and the other doesn't move at all.
Mailbag: would you like to start seeing cards that cause the same effects that already exist in a different way? e.g. Magik on reveal creates a limbo location, having another card that creates limbo but it is ongoing. If so what would they be?
She is definitely a staple for me now... generated 2 more 3 costs gives you more room to play cheaper tech cards like Goose, Shadow King, etc in your deck
MAILBAG: What would you want them to add to the Auto Fill to make it even better? Mine would have to be the ability to say you want to leave certain cards out of decks on purpose. Cozy actually showed the perfect example of why I want this feature added by trying to get the Auto Fill to replace Iron Lad. Sometimes I just wanna see what else could fit in with certain cards.
I know Loki was over tuned but I don't think Ms. Marvel was. I think the devs got that right. I think she was more popular than Shaw will be. That's my main difference. But I played a lot of Ms. Marvel the first couple weeks. A ton of it. And there were games I didn't draw her or I got rogued or it just didn't work out. Same with Ms Marvel. It was kind of the packages around them that needed tuning. I think Shaw is right on par with Nebula, Nimrod, Elsa, MS. Marvel.
I think a dark avengers season would be super cool, alternate costumes for daken, get an iron patriot card, I just love the idea of the dark avengers lol
Why does every Season Pass card need to be universally usable? It's FINE to focus on an archetype for a month. Shaw is for Surfer, and he makes the deck so much smoother. There are times where I didn't draw Surfer, which often means a loss, but with Shaw, that's another win condition.
I mostly play surfer, and while both of these guys are much better players than me, I find it absolutely wild that Maximus is rated higher than Gladiator. I also really don't understand how Shaw is rated higher than Werewolf
Have What If?…. variants that work for multiple cards, like “What if Spider-man became The Punisher?” Let the variant work for spidey and punisher. EDIT: I’m with Coccia: with whiskey Pepsi and coke taste the same lol.

Cozy’s Patriot/Surfer deck pushed me through the 90s to infinite this season. Shaw was effective!

I have been testing Black Panther in the 5 drop slot for shaw-surfer and it has led to some clutch wins.

Daken is really more of a Discard or Destroy card, but if you can Surfer him and Nova him before you get rid of the shard, he gets pretty crazy.

shaw is really good in negative surfer. Wong + mystique into wolfsbane/ironheart + surfer steals so many cubes.

There’s also Magik.. she’s an honorable mention, but facilitates the combo above - AND she has SS synergy.
Turn 3 Magik > Turn 4 or 5 Wong > Turn 6 Mystique + Surfer > Turn 7 Odin or Absorbing Man… 🫨 how come none of them made the cut?

Akin to Hulk buster, Quinjet, Helacarrier, Cerebro Mjolnir, Ebony Blade, etc. How about something spicy like Eye of Agamotto, Tesseract, Infinity Gauntlet, The 10 Rings, Capt's Shield, Silver Surfer's Board, Ghost Riders Hell Bike, Web Shooters, The Darkhold, Terrigen Mist/Crystals, Excalibur, Gem of Cyttorak, The Blackbird, etc

I don't see why Cozy views Sera as an instant win condition. I mean, playing her on five means you have sacrificed playing a 3-drop on five, so that you can play it on six. Is her 4 power that big of an addition? Especially when you can play a 2-drop with the 3-drop on turn five.
Mail bag: can you discuss thoughts on monetization development over time? Recent bundles $60-100 with mostly 1200 gold variants in shop… not really feeling incentivized to buy anything. The value isn’t there. $100 for two low mid cards and 10,000 tokens… baiting for the giant pile of tokes. I want to engage with the albums but I just can’t bring myself to do it.

I got to Infinite this season with a Shaw Surfer deck that doesn't run Sera 👀
I started the season running a more conventional Sera Surfer Shaw deck and got slammed in maybe my third game by this Surfer deck running loads of 1 drops and WWBN... and it was inspirational, you know?
Climbed from 73 to Infinite in two days with a cook inspired by it.

It takes a bit of learning to play. Not playing your 1 drops too early, planning where your WWBN is gonna go with your 1 drops on T4 and 5, Killmongering late to free up space for WWBN, winning priority and using Cosmo or Juggernaut aggressively.
Juggernaut is in the slot I used to run Spider-Man but I found the change to him an effective nerf in this deck. Negasonic works well in this slot too. (Juggernaut is a greedier pick.)
People never expect Killmonger because you're not running Nova and you've got so many of your own 1 drops.
Cosmo protects your Shaw, and counters things like IW Hela (which is the personal bane of my existence).
A lot of the success of this kind of deck is it is extremely surprising! (And feels totally mad to play, let alone play against.) But it works!
I’m not in the nerf WBN camp, I feel like it would destroy his viability on turn six, just to make up for his potential as a turn three play. I just feel like you should retreat if they have the set up and be done with it. I don’t think I’ve even seen him once this week anyway.

Gladiator used to be the best Tech card in the game for getting the other players Chavez out on turn 3 now it finds way more creative ways to suck
Mailbag: Can you think of any card effects to push a new architype? For example, I'd like to see a card that gains power if your opponent doesn't draw a card when they should. This could give use to cards like Crystal, Master Mold and Baron Mordo.

MAILBAG QUESTION: Is it fair for The "special" tasks to involve using a "premium" card especially for the F2P players who earnestly save their tokens? Apparently in order to get 400 tokens you have to either use your spotlights or shell out 3K-6k tokens just to earn 400...not very enticing as it appears???
Regarding Coke vs. Pepsi - Remember that different regions have different bottling plants with different recipes. I greatly prefer Diet Coke in most of the eastern US, but in Ontario, I prefer Diet Pepsi.

I've been having a ton of fun playing sera/surfer/Shaw. You can put out so much power on turn 6! Love all of the deck variations so far
Speaking of the Daken comparison. Something that always confused me is why does the shard cost 1? Mjolnir is a 0/0 so why can’t the shard be the same? I don’t think it makes him THAT much stronger but it does buff him enough to be played outside of just discard decks
In my Surfer deck I have, Sera, Juggernaut, Polaris for stats, Luke cage and shadow king just to name a few
MAILBAG: how does the game dicate what happens first when thing get move like moving a cosmo to a different lane but the on reveal card still resolve. Another example is when two captain marvel is on the board and one seem to fly to when and the other doesn't move at all.

Mine would have to be the ability to say you want to leave certain cards out of decks on purpose.
Cozy actually showed the perfect example of why I want this feature added by trying to get the Auto Fill to replace Iron Lad. Sometimes I just wanna see what else could fit in with certain cards.

I know Loki was over tuned but I don't think Ms. Marvel was. I think the devs got that right. I think she was more popular than Shaw will be. That's my main difference. But I played a lot of Ms. Marvel the first couple weeks. A ton of it. And there were games I didn't draw her or I got rogued or it just didn't work out. Same with Ms Marvel. It was kind of the packages around them that needed tuning. I think Shaw is right on par with Nebula, Nimrod, Elsa, MS. Marvel.

One issue is Forge does not trigger Shaw’s ability. If it did, Shaw would jump to 8 power but nope just 6.
He does trigger Shaw's ability; it's pretty clearly a graphical glitch. The total power at the location is correct, the power shown on Shaw is not

Why does every Season Pass card need to be universally usable? It's FINE to focus on an archetype for a month. Shaw is for Surfer, and he makes the deck so much smoother. There are times where I didn't draw Surfer, which often means a loss, but with Shaw, that's another win condition.

I mostly play surfer, and while both of these guys are much better players than me, I find it absolutely wild that Maximus is rated higher than Gladiator. I also really don't understand how Shaw is rated higher than Werewolf
Have What If?…. variants that work for multiple cards, like “What if Spider-man became The Punisher?” Let the variant work for spidey and punisher.
