    Just tried it (Revit 2020) and it works perfectly. Such a great, simple idea! I think it's worth to specify what type of family you chose for the Model text, and as well that it's easier to make all of this using a shared parameter.

    This is a great! Can some code be added to read room tags from a linked architectural model? We do building services and room tags primarily exist in the Architectural models which we do not have access to, to run this script in.

    • @TheRevitKid

      Dynamo and Links are pretty limited but there are more and more nodes coming out. You may be able to get the rooms in other ways and then run a similar script.

    Great tutorial, thank you. I’ve defined a subcategory for the room number and name properties so that I can control their visibility in each view; that works well except for the room location points, which are still showing in all views. Is there a way that those location points can be turned off? Many thanks.

    • @TheRevitKid
      @TheRevitKid  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Are you talking about the blue points that show up when you run the script? Those are temporary Dynamo artifacts that I believe don't print and will go away next time you close and open the Revit file.

    • @josepferrer4259
      @josepferrer4259 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Jeff. Yes! I meant those blue points; as you say, they do not print and they disappear when loading the project again. So nice altogether. I’m very grateful for your sharing and quick response. Regards and thank you, Josep.

    Hi Jeff - I'm an MEP guy and wanted to create these 3D room tags for my own internal Navis models. Thank you so much for sharing this - this is fantastic!
    Recognizing that it wasn't straightforward to do this in my own model, I'm attempting to run this graph while in a copy of the Architect's model (downloaded to my harddrive - not messing with their actual model!) I'm getting an error that reads, "This field cannot be blank. Enter text to continue". I thought perhaps there were some rooms in their model without names/numbers (which there were and I deleted) but I still get the error, 26 times. Then at the end, another error that says "Can't make type "3D Room Tag" and if I hit cancel, all of the tags that were placed go away, but if I hit delete type, it appears that all of my rooms are tagged.
    In the graph, the error seems to be placed on the FamilyInstance.ByPoint.
    Any thoughts or have you seen this before? (Revit 23)

    • @TheRevitKid
      @TheRevitKid  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hmm.. That is REALLY hard to troubleshoot via a TH-cam comment. Without seeing the model, graph, warning code, etc... myself it would be very difficult to help you directly here lol

    • @psubrian
      @psubrian 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I got it figured out. This is a renovation project and there were rooms on the "Existing" phase that weren't all filled out. Even though I was in the "New Construction" phase when running the graph, it was pulling the rooms from both phases as I realized the tags were doubling up. Since I was doing it in my own local copy of the architect's model, I just deleted all of the rooms on the existing phase and all errors went away!@@TheRevitKid

    This is great! One issue I'm having though is that the script isn't picking up the point for the location of the room tags. I'm having an error by the time the output of "Room.Location" is being used in "FamilyInstance.ByPoint" where the error says "Value Cannot be Null; Parameter Name: Point". I'm working in Revit 2019. Any suggestions?

      Not sure what node the error is in... Maybe it didn't pull the room name or number info so that list is blank...? all depends...

    Hi Jeff, just wonder if this method can be used for door/window tagging?

    • @TheRevitKid
      @TheRevitKid  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, it would have to be tweaked but the same approach can be applied. I have used a similar approach to placing 3D keynotes in the same location as 2D keynotes.... So, I don't see why it wouldn't work for doors/windows.

      Sounds like a list issue in the Dynamo script. Double check each step with a watch node and see where the lists don't seem to align correctly or something along those lines!
