I know it has some "clones" in English segment, but I know only the Russian one - Знакомьтесь, Боб(Meet the Bob? I guess), that was about crazy experiments. Like "what if you stop drinking" or "what if you eat a battery". And this show started getting lore over the time, and I caught HUGE vibes of it, when Narrator said "it all was fake", because the same thing (almost) happened to the Bob. He found out there was a BUNCH of clones, that were usually dying from video to video just for some strange experiments. Then it was revealed, that there was a reason for all that... the story become to unravel... well, for most if us, viewers, it became just not interesting, especially when they continued it for over SIX SEASONS, there is seventh going on now. But well, this part about everything being fake "matrix" - this looks like a reference to me.

It's always weird when people expect someone to just have zero emotional response to something just because "it's not real". I know it's not real. But if watching it elicited nothing from me I wouldn't be watching it. You can't just expect people to respond to your comedy but not respond to anything else happening in the little narrative you've created. Besides which, the joke isn't funny when its repeated that many times.

Nonsensical. There is no profound characterization or depth given to the characters. We don't see Alex showing pain or displeasure, nor the Steves showing any emotion or thoughts. They're empty puppets meant to be used for jokes. What's happening is that people are overemotional and project too much onto the characters when it's inappropriate to do so. I too can feel sympathy for these characters, but that's not the point of this creation.

I like the fact that the reason for Alex' torments is sheer bad luck, not skill issue. She has plenty of those, but no amount of skill can prepare anyone from the randomness of that universe
now I get why it says "(ULTRA DELUXE)" for context, ultra deluxe was an addon for a game called "stanley parable" where you play as an office worker but all of your coworkers disappear. and the entire time, a narrator talkes about everything you do, did, and are going to do. if you don't follow the path or do something stupid, the narrator will start to get mad. there are many endings to the game.
I just got bamboozled by the narrator from the Stanley Parable but I also love that that particular bit is aimed to make fun people who take Alex getting killed alot too seriously.
