  • Today we are dyeing naturally using Pokeberry from our property. I used 3 handspun skeins of yarn, Angora, Alpaca, and Pygora. I also used the book "Natural Dyes on Wool" (listed below). I hope you enjoy this!

Can't wait to watch! I'm delving into natural dyes, too, and working with pokeberry at the moment as well. It will be fun to compare notes ❤

I definitely needed more pokeberries to achieve that dark color. Mine just hadn't all turned yet. I'll be overdyeing it once I pick some more!

Thanks Michelle! The yarn was quite light and I'm waiting for more pokeberries to turn and I'm going to overdye!

I don't have any pokeberries but you gave me an idea to use all the wild grapes that are growing around our farm. I think it would work much the same. Thanks! :0)

I'll be curious to hear how this comes out! Isn't it fun to experiment?

Thank you! I mentioned in the video that I wasn't sure if I had enough pokeberries. The end result was quite light and I may overdye it once more pokeberries turn.

I'm curious to know why you would say that pokeberries are "not toxic in any stretch of the imagination, because it is all natural"???
    Ref. Point 11:20
I hate to tell you....but, the seeds inside those berries are EXTREMELY toxic to humans! In fact, they are highly poisonous to most mammals if ingested!!
Do you do any research before you speak?? I don't mean to seem ugly about it....but telling your audience that ANYTHING is not poisonous because it "Is all natural" is super careless!! In fact...MOST deadly poisons are derived from nature!! I just can't imagine why you would say something like that. Maybe you were distracted....or just not thinking. Whatever the case may be...you might want to consider taking that line out of your video before someone gets hurt.
    .....just sayin'.

Thank you for kindly pointing that out. Since I was talking about some dyes being more dangerous to dye yarn with, I should have used the word "caustic".
