This is my absolute favorite tribute of Chris'... and I've seen them all. Mike's performance kills me every time. In terms of his emotional investment in what Chris contributed to the culture of humanity in the past 30 years and his incredible talent. His prologue to the music, his ability to absorb Chris' thoughts and pain, is a superhuman set of skills and capabilities. Seasons is Chris's very first steps outside the shadow of Soundgarden. No Kim, Ben, Matt, Hiro or Jason. This performance absolutely adds to Chris' legacy as a songwriter.... and more simply a conveyor of emotions and heart and feel. A set of skills that most of this earth's population, and certainly myself lack more often than not. Thank you Mike Love for the bravery to put yourself out there like all the great artists before you. And damn dude, you can play and sing.
The mirror shows another face, another Face to hide it all. This is so true and you explain it so well, we need to help each other. I loved Chris Cornell and his talent since the beginning days of Sound Garden, Temple of the Dog, etc. As I sit in my garage contemplating life, this song and your tribute brings me back. He was truly a great soul. Thank you brother.
I was a teenager when the Seattle scene hit. There's something to those bands, their music was something deep. Made me become a musician like many others but mostly a fan so I get where you're coming from ✌️💙
@@erikcox8749 I was a teenager in the 80's. My influences in the 80s were Metallica(James Hetfield), Judas Priest(Rob Halford), Motley Crew(Vince Neil), Steve Miller Band, Aerosmith(Steven Tyler), Led Zepplin(Robert Plant) Slayer(Tom Araya), Queensryche(Geoff Tate), Megadeth(Dave Mustaine), Ratt(Steven Pearcy), Prince - yes I said that he was a genius and belongs in this group. I went the gamut in my musical taste and my list is so much longer. But, when the grunge age became mainstream in the 90s, Pearl Jam(Eddie Vedder), Stone Temple Pilots(Scott Wieland), Alice in Chains(Layne Staley), I really was drawn to some serious talent. But of all them, Chris Cornell held my attention the most. Without a doubt he was one of the most gifted musicians, vocalist, writers and performers on the planet. Black Hole Sun, Super Unknown, Rusty Cage, Say hello 2 heaven, Outshined, I was hooked! He came Atlanta and performed at the Fox Theatre his last year before he died. I said, I have to go and did not make the time. Man did I regret that. Funny story, I saw Stone Temple Pilots in Alpharetta and the lead band was absolutely horrible! My wife who is not really into my music said, "Is STP going to be this bad?". I was like hell no, they will be a total different experience and he did not disappoint! That was the year before he overdosed, great talent and artist. His unplugged versions of his work are amazing, Plush is a good example. th-cam.com/video/vXe7HIyDBdE/w-d-xo.html Grind on brother and if you ever need help, ask for it man. Too many gone way to soon, not sure they really understood the impact they made on others in their darkest hours. ;-) RIP to all of those shredding in heaven. Oh, try this version from Daniel Lima, dude made one of the best renditions I have ever heard. th-cam.com/video/VhS4qlIbQ4w/w-d-xo.html
mahalo my brother. chris has got to be looking upon you with a giant grin. you captured the spirit of that pc and set it free on gossamer wings. for the rest of my time on this rock my heart will reflect upon the introspection you bring to this beautiful song and the profound tragedy that surrounds it
He truly did have a one of a kind voice. I would brag about his voice all the time to people; nothing compared and nothing ever will. We really lost a legend.
I was 17 the first time I heard Soundgarden. Louder Than Love. It was a musical evolution for me....completely blew the doors off the cage of same ol' music that I had confined myself to. As someone who has struggled with depression and darkness, I heard lyrics that I could deeply identify with....lyrics that let me know I was not alone. Thank you Mike Love. You have comforted me today. Once again, I am not alone.
Mike I must say brother that this is by far my favorite take on a Cornel song Iv ever heard my man Bravo 👏 thanks for the advice and stay frosty my friend…..🍻
Thank you for sharing your love for Chris the Man and Chris the legendary musician singer/songwriter. His music changed a part of me at20 yrs of age with his brilliance and your rendition brought me to tears it was phenomenal!! You sir gave a great soul as did Chris and I was once again turned onto another great musician so now I have some great new music to help carry me through some days that are tougher than others as I'm sick from 9/11/01, yours is a calming and yet very uplifting style. Thank you Mike and for Chris NO ONE SINGS LIKE YOU ANYMORE peace to you both Thank You
I just came across this, more than 2 years after Chris's passing. First time since then that I've had hope that someone can keep the spirit of Chris alive. This version would make him smile. Thank you Mike. This was awesome. On so many levels.
I wasn't expecting it to be as good as I just witnessed! Got me crying hard, one of my favorite songs as well. Chris's choice of chords and his bluesy approach to folk... Awesome tribute. RIP
Thanks Mike. Truly beautiful memories and sentiments. I am 52 year old Aussie that introduced my son, who is now 17 into sound garden and the raw and sweet tones of Chris. We both feel a great loss in the music world and wish to pass on our heartfelt sympathy and love to his family. RIP Chris. The music will live on forever. Greg and James Ward.
Absolutely beautiful. So many of us hurt so bad right now. Seeing and hearing something like this helps so much. RIP Chris. God bless and keep him, his family and friends.
We've lost many music icons over the years, but I must say that the amount of love and sorrow, expressed by people around the world in reaction to Chris' death, is absolutely phenomenal. The outpouring of grief and shock from fans, the media, and especially fellow singers and musicians, is a testament not only to his talents, but to his character as well. So many fans have expressed their gratitude for his inspiration, and for his music getting them through some very dark times in their lives. The musical tributes from his peers, in respect and admiration for one of the nicest people in the business, is overwhelming. It will take awhile, but I intend to watch every single one of them. RIP Chris Cornell. You stood among giants, and towered above them.
What a beautiful tribute. Your emotion is heart felt. Never knew who Chris Cornell was till he died sadly. You have done a fantastic rendition and love your voice. This has also made me cry. Peace to you Mike. RIP Chris Cornell
chris will never leave our hearts. its sad that his craftwork ended with his flight from mortal coil. with every new day comes the memory of his heartfelt contribution to humanity. l look to his time with us as a reminder of how fleeting our time here is. instead of fretting over what should have been l take comfort knowing that his songs inspire me to comprehend more than the eyes can see
Mahalo, Mike Love. That was ono and classic, bruddah. Perfect and beautiful words and reach out for others who may be going through trials and tribulations, like Chris did. Great rendition. Aloha.
I've seen every single tribute to Chris so far, and this is by far the best. Heartfelt, and Mike makes me feel his pain inside, and is sharing mine. The upside to all of this, is that I just learned about Mike Love.
Probably the most amazing cover of this song I have ever heard! Beautiful voice and all of his emotions are on his face. When the right person is in the right mood for singing a song like this at the right time. RIP Chris ❤️😢
Not ashamed to admit I watch this video several times every day. I had not heard of Mike before coming across this beautiful tribute to Chris. Mike has a beautiful voice, and truly does this song justice, one of the best cover versions of a Chris Cornell/Soundgarden song I have ever heard. Respect Mike.
Mike, I’m viewing this again...3 years on from your original post..and it is even more beautiful to me and is bringing. me. to. tears. WOW. My heart still weeps at this loss. Sometimes I can’t even listen/watch any of this performances, then I dive into them.
There is a certain beauty in pain. That's what made Chris such a beautiful singer. Unfortunately, the burden was too much to bear... great tribute Mike. RIP Chris... Say hello to heaven for me, won't you?
I just wanna let you know Mike I've been grieving for Chris for a year now. I'm just a Canadian super fan of his .Now I'm a super fan of yours, keep playing brother you also are one in a million!!!
I truly have been hurt to my core since waking up on Thursday 18th of may. Chris Cornell has been the driving force of my musical influences. I have to stop watching all of these tributes until I can come to grips with why he's gone. "Say Hello to Heaven" for me Chris........
Oh Mike! Moved to tears. "You friggen nailed that brother" is I'm sure what Chris is thinking right now. You are a great soul. Thank you for sharing such a meaningful moment. Man can you sing!
Thank you so much for sharing your stories and honoring his memory so beautifully. Truly touched and brings me some solace and acceptance of this tragedy.
