Being an African-American, I am so Proud of my Ancestors and Homeland. I was just WATCHING this and got tired 😂😂 No One brings the Energy like Our African Sistahs and Brothas. We are such a Diverse and Beautiful Race. Some day I hope to visit Africa, Our Ancestors Homeland and the Continent where the First man was found. Here in America, no one tries to learn about nor hold on to their True Heritage which is why I'm so proud to see these younger people holding on to their traditions. Much Love from America ❤️

Im Kenyan but Congolese music and dancing is downright the most African of all music. It is played in all the bars and discos here in Africa. The ratings here of 4.3 million viewers (that's what it was today), does not even reflect how much people listen to this music in Africa. Its more like 200 million because some countries - many people dont have access to data - we hear it on radio, when we go out etc. There is such a strength and power to it. We sing every word of these songs although we are not Congolese and dont understand it but it speaks clear and direct to every single African.

So much of your culture is also preserved, Mama Afrika still lives in the hearts, the minds, the soul and the blood of her children all over the world. It's interesting being an African looking into African American culture because i don't think you guys realize truly just how much of your African culture you have retained and continue to practice over the centuries. I was watching a few D9 fraternities and sororities and their stepping is so similar to dances in multiple African cultures, particularly the Zulus. Though you were robbed of so much of your history and culture, you have retained a lot of it and have created a new culture that brings pride and joy to all your brothers and sisters in the diaspora! We love and stand with our AFRICAN American brothers and sisters.

Well let me educate you. The birthplace of the Bantu people is known to be around the Congo River, actual DRC. The Congolese people pride themselves as the best dancers in the world and rumba (the Congolese music) is recognized as an intangible UN cultural heritage. The rumba is considered an essential and representative part of the identity of Congolese people and its diaspora, let me rather say all Bantu people on the continent feel the vibe and energy of this music. It is perceived as a means of conveying the social and cultural values from the heart of Africa. It is the beating drum of our Africanity. There are plenty of beautiful music and dance genres around the world, but when the heart of Africa dances the entire world feels the energy. Once you see and hear it, you can't help but wonder: " what on earth is this?", the Congolese would simply tell you: "don't blink."

@@j.bkibirige1711 Oh ok I realized the husband is a musician after I had watched this video but at first I didn't know. I had watched a small part of their vowel exchange so I didn't hear the part when she said she will learn the dances. I have to go back and watch the whole ceremony cause what I watched so far was beautiful 🙂
