I was in the same situation. My family and his family refused for us to divorce. I awoke up one day and tell myself, do I really want to live like this for another 30 years...NO.. so I left... my family disowned me. After 2 years, my family and I patched things back up and now we are closer than ever. I raised 4 beautiful kids on my own, held a good job ... my kids are all grown up and doing great. I don’t plan to get married because I enjoy being able to do whatever I want with my kids and my money. However, my boyfriend and I have been together for six years and going on strong. He treats me like a queen. The number one thing you need to realize is .. love yourself first, do what makes your little heart happy.. not for your husband, parent or kids.. At the end of the day...it’s YOU. I took a few years just finding myself and truly love myself before I finally enter relationships. You need to love yourself.

I’m sorry that you have to stay with someone only because your family is threatening to disown you if you leave. Let me tell you something and I hope you will take this into consideration. Growing up in a dysfunctional family with my parents living in their toxic marriage, as their children, my siblings and I would’ve wished for them to go their separate ways and be happy than stick together and be miserable. It made our life hard growing up as their children because going home to seeing your parents fight and unhappy everyday was so sad. I left home and got married at 15 to get out of that life and I’m still married to my husband to this day. My parents are still together but now that they’re older they just try to live it to the fullest even if they’re still unhappy. It still makes me sad when I hear from both of them that they’re not happy together and they don’t even have nice things to say to each other.
I also believe that in life we all deserve to be happy and to be loved because life is so short. I applaud you for staying, but I hope you will take into consideration for your mental health and your kids, to have the courage to go out there and find your happiness and be with who you love and who loves you back. We only have this one life to live and it should be your choice and your decision on how you want to live it. Best of luck to you.
