U know what surprises me Nick, I don't see u catching barracudas much.is it because of how deep u r ,because they don't bother us over the edge of the banks in Jamaica but on the shallows on the banks they would kill every live bait u throw over there.they trim down our ballyhoos under skirts while wahoo fishing on the edge for example.greetings from Germany 🙏🇯🇲🇩🇪 keep up the great work👍🏽
If I run the 240' ledge they will bother us and kill baits. Buoys on the west side of the island tend to hold a lot of them. I prefer not to catch them because the slime 🤙

I just opened the crimping pliers. My son picked them up and the locking pin that holds the handles in the closed stored position fell apart! So much for good luck 🤣🤣🤣🤣

Btw those things that were in the first ahi could have been undiscovered.i caught a small 12 inch shark already that had marine biologist baffled,it had way more fins than any other sharks ever documented in jamaica.so u never know👍🏽don't take even the smallest things for granted.the ocean is only a small percentage explored and even smaller amount of what's swimming out there had been discovered.

That electric reel had a hard time bringing in that ahi an if u want your fish to cool down faster u would think u would put it in the ice as fast as possible I know when I’m hot I jump in my truck turn on thE AC asap idk just my thinking
I keep the drag low so it just barely brings it in. If I keep the drag at strike the fish would fly in and be way too lively when its at leader and more of a chance of losing the fish. We like to leave the fish out and let it cool down. If you ice right away and the fish is warm you shock the meat and get burned fish. Thats been my experience and I havent had a burned ahi for many many years 🤙
The drag is low but u hand lining it so y make the drag low an u hand line make it high the faster u pull in a ahi the better we use CSG for everything I put my own drags we go a 900 lb Marlin in 45 minutes a 550 in 25 minutes 100/200 lb Marlins way to fast so we shoot it no gun ahis very fast I’ve tried a lot of electric reels an when a handle is put on it means u gonna need it. when your fish is dead your quality can only get worse putting it in the ice immediately will only help it not hurt it . I’ve been fishing for 35 years commercially so it’s just my opinion
