    All good ..But.. how is it ?? That the Power Switch on the PC Cabinet is "Momentary Contact". What pins ?? Or, how is the Momentary Switch ON / OFF Power Achieved ??

    Thanks! I bought a new PSU for my old RX570 that I had since my old PC broke. My lenovo prebuilt that I recently got can't handle a GPU sooo I'm using this as a alternate way till I get my 24 pin to 14 pin adapter since I don't wanna make it manually lol

    Thanks for the video. I used it tonight to power on a PSU to power a GPU since mine apparently isn’t antiquated to run. In your opinion is it ok to run a power supply into a GPU via this method for about a week?

      It should be fine. I used a PSU powered on using this method for almost 2 years to power an eGPU with no issues.

    I tried this once, it exploded!
    I think it was a Dell specific PSU that happened to have different wiring though..

      Dell PSU's don't follow the ATX wiring standard. You probably shorted +5v to ground instead of PS_ON#

      😆...😆... I needed a belly laugh and I got one after reading your post. I'm about to attempt something similar myself. I hope I don't end up sending you smoke signals.

      All ATX PSU’s work like this. It’s a standard.

  • @alafrosty
    @alafrosty 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

    This works so long as your PSU is dumb enough. I apparently have a PSU that detects load on the CPU connector and won't turn on using this method. I came here to see if I could figure out how to circumvent the problem.

    • @BartechTV
      @BartechTV  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      I've never heard of a PSU that does that. It's outside ATX specification. the spec states that "When PS_ON# is pulled to TTL low, the power supply should turn on the four main DC output rails"
      New motherboards allow BIOS updates without a CPU installed, how are people going to do this is the PSU won't even turn on?

      @@BartechTV I managed to get mine working again by plugging it into a motherboard. I think that it must have gone into windows sleep mode and wouldn't come out until it got back to a PC motherboard. At least, that's my theory. Once it started up connected to a MoBo, it jump-starts just fine.

      @@BartechTV It's real, old ATX PSUs require a minimum load on a certain voltage rail (usually the one with the most power) for it to regulate voltage properly.
      Without this, some ATX power supplies will outright refuse to turn on or output lower than rated voltage on all voltage rails.
      Some PSUs even require minimum load on more than 1 voltage rail.
