Before 1966, HP, Utar Khand, Haryana, Delhi were part of Punjab & deeply associated with Punjabi.. In West Punjab , Punjabi is usual, they write Punjabi in 'Urdu script' In fact The West Punjab preserved Punjabi heritage more than East Punjab, where 'Safforn Terrorist' are jealous & hate Punjabi . . . . Two women sitting along my side talking in PUNJABI. I asked them if they are from MOGA area of Punjab? "NO", was the reply. one from Distt Gujrat (PK) second from Bahawalpur (PK). their Punjabi was more refined (pure) than ours. I was surprised that a lady from Sind area (Bahawal pur) speak Punjabi They say they speak Punjabi at home in families. the same with some families from Karachi. Our benevolent lady Didi Mamta Benergee has given Punjabi the status as second language in WB
