No, the range is correct he fires 7.5 tiles, same as princes tower the difference is that he has a new mechanic that isn't even mentioned but basically he also has a sight limit and he dosent have the full 360 view and there are blindspots where even when a troop is within his range he can't see it so he won't target it
Honestly if they just change it so it can target cards on the other side meleeing the king tower like the princess tower can, then I think it'd actually be a balanced alternative. It counters quite a few cards better than princess, and is weak against others. Theres different counterplay and ways to utilize both and I feel that's how it should be.

Only time can tell, mabye new types of decks will come into existence thanks to new tower troops and the meta will chamge along with it. For all we know the canoneer can be the beginning of an entire Swarm based meta and bait will be on top making it so that supercell focus thier balance changes on under used tanks and mabye nerfing cards that thrive off this new change like goblin barrel
You can also get over some of the weakness with swarms by taking tornado or fisherman for king activations. King tower is still half decent for helping on goblin barrel and gy. That might help. I think it’s playable as is but I think it would be be pretty strong if not better than the princess tower if the health reduction got removed

Evo skelly are gonna be so good against cannoneer. Ngl, I thjnk he needs some touch ups, but overall I think the tower has a lot of potential. Like my deck is good against swarm, but struggles a bit more with heavy troops. This could possibly synergize better with the deck I like. I really like the idea of this troop, the only thing i am concerned about is the levels. Since cards were actually added, that means i will need to level the tower up individually. So having a level 14 princess tower will make it hard to play with the cannoneer for a while depending on how tower cards are unlocked.
I think that a good way to buff this tower is to increase it range a little bit so it can hit units at the middle of the bridge. Noted that this can shut down alot of cards but it make sense you know. It suppose to weak to swarm. And you can't convince me that a high powered manhandled cannon share the same range as a princess weilding bow and arrows.

The only thing that makes it bad. Is the health. One attack from a Lumberjack for example has much more impact to a Cannoneer then a Princess Tower. Its a build around assist instead of a jack of all trades assist.
the main issue i see is that it’s a forced duo. you can choose to have one on a certain side and another on the other. that would probably draw games out but i don’t know. seems smart to have that and be able to draw a tank to the cannon lane and draw a swarm to the princess.
but a lot to go off this. it’s going to make people use new decks. i use my own theme decks(skeleton, royal army, outcast, villagers etc) but it’ll be nice to go against new decks but may see a rise of swarms
The lower tower HP and the attack speed being 3 times slower making it trash against swarms, weird radius, damage spillage ( it can 2 shot barbs but it’s 800/600 damage and it’s 4.8 seconds dor that), 400 less HP, it’s not worth the trade off, shane had a better idea that was tower talents (like equipment in CoC but for your tower, and all passive)
i think it is weird that the skeleton cards wreck it, but that is probably cuz we are used to princess countering that. I think if the roles were reversed we would be finding it crazy how the princess doesn't take out bombers or spirits
Yea it definitely feels odd but it’s just a different play style. You sacrifice your tower’s capability to attack quickly but in turn you’re able to 1 shot a lot of things that you normally have to spend wasted elixir on defending and imo you have an easier time defending heavy oriented decks.
looking at the side by side, the cannoneer seemed pretty balanced, which is odd because all of the gameplay videos using it and using it in the current challenge makes it feel bad, but it might be because they are a lot of swarms currently in the meta? crazy how bad cannoneer is at dealing with skeletons
One thing though… the amount of damage dealt is not the best measurement… because the tower has less health, sometimes it is destroyed quicker. The remaining health is ultimately what matters because of when you are able to finish it with spell cycle. I understand that you are just demonstrating the interactions though. For more accurate comparasion ,there should be HP equivalents calculated upon observing we can find that 6 HP(cannoneer) = 7HP(PTower) eg,, even if the princess tower takes 3010 damage and cannoneer takes 2580 damage it might seems that cannoneer wins but actually NO, it's should be a draw because 2580HP(c)=3010HP(p)

I dont think its supposed to be some colourful upgrade. Just a small sidegrade for players to have choices. Plus, its their first tower troop. You wouldnt want them to take it too far

Not a fan of tower troops tbh. Supercells been making some questionable decisions lately on game balances (level 15, evo balances, etc). I’m worried that CR will get fortnite syndrome and fall apart.
It needs to fire faster or have splash damage, otherwise this is a no brainer of a choice. Princess is a "common" and cannoneer is an epic... make it epic then.
Irl cannon balls don’t explode they’re a giant bullet basically(way more mass causes the “explosiveness” in movies goes through more stuff). In my opinion it needs a buff because cannoneer has a weird oval range not circular like princess so it’s needs its range to be the same as princess and it’s needs faster attack speed

If he gets a range buff, he will be balanced, no need of splash damage or attack Speed buffs (maybe a lil hp buff), tho i understand the hp nerf, long ranged troops like dart goblin, fire cracker and some others can't even attack once, so instead of a hp buff, maybe a projectle speed and range buff and that's it
Edit: After watching the video, no, he only needs that 0.1 of range buff to target the troops when they're on the king tower and they're fine, when i'll level him up, i'll surely bring him in my deck, the hp difference is needed, basically an evo spirit can being your princess tower to the hps of a cannoner, so, i think it should stay like this

The test with barbarians wasn't fair, there was a princess and the king attacking at the same time but not for the cannoneer side

It got to have a buff, i guess a small splash, faster speed by 0.2 or 0.4 seconds, but trh mkst needed is spinning animation when targeting at somrthing else at a diffrent angle

Cannoneer takes a lot of damage but one of his minus that he's attacking for example goblins where he lost more hp than tower princess who would kill goblin fast

If he attacks the troops on the king tower also, he might be underrated. With 200 hp buff, this tower is actually better.

Needs splash damage but do not make the splash damage the same as the cannon damage just make it 2 shot minions or archers and give the cannon damage a stun effect like 1 seconds

wall breaker is 2 elixir and take out like 1/4 of a princess tower, all spirits will connect,furnace,evo archer,wizard also taks out half of a princess tower,cannoneer counters all of those and furnace cant even land a hit

Irl cannon balls don’t explode they’re a giant bullet basically(way more mass causes the “explosiveness” in movies goes through more stuff). But the cannon and cannoncart don’t splash so that would be a headache for supercell, so many people would complain. Currently I think the oval sight range is the bad thing
