    Over the course of testing, we were in contact with a number of reviewers who asked us about stability with 24H2. With our setup using the firmware / BIOS listed at 3:12 of the video, we had one of the smoothest experiences with a pre-launch platform we've ever encountered. It seems like other folks (many who were using MSI motherboards) experienced nightmares. Guess that's another reason to recommend you skip Arrow Lake for now. :(

      I would say avoid ARL + MSI mobo combo , instead of ARL entirely. With Asus / Gigabyte mobos everything seems to be rock solid.

      How is every CPU cooked? From a gaming only aspect maybe, but most CPUs aren't sold for gaming.
      The 285 is pretty boring, but the 245 walks it's price segment. The 9700X looks like it's in trouble as far as a mid level workstation segment.

      @HardwareCanucks I'm nearly out of 7800X3Ds at the price I am willing to pay, and I know the 9800X3D is going to be $549 USD. Thankfully, most don't need it for gaming only builds. 12400F, 7500F, and 5700X3D upgrades for now are holding. We need a new budget king for Ryzen 9000 soon, with the other nodes drying up.

    Thanks for the overview, I'm liking the new style of the low and high charts, I think it's a great way to show a reality check on GPU bottlenecks all at once instead of potential buyers focusing too heavily on pure framerates. I mentioned on another video that I'm using a Gigabyte B350 motherboard that has done well for me over multiple Ryzen generations, from 1700X to 5900X, and I was hoping to give Intel a chance this next round. But surprisingly to me, and proven in your charts, the 9700X and 9900X suddenly look all the more attractive against Arrow Lake for those of us wanting both solid gaming and productivity platforms in one. I'm really curious to see a 5900X vs 9900X vs 285K breakdown. As great as the X3D chips are, I just don't think they're for me with the lackluster productivity results...unless the 9800X3D really changes things.

      We don't need to isolate in order to get CPU package power draw numbers. As a matter of fact, as you saw in the recent GN video, PSU isolation doesn't really work to accurately determine how much power is going to each component if current is split between connectors / components. Even GN has stated that if HWInfo supports a platform, you can get very accurate A/B power numbers due to the way to uses rail voltage measurements on most (but not all) platforms. And the HWInfo crew is VERY good at what they do for platform support; to the point where that even now have initial Panther Lake support.

    I understand why everybody talks about testing at 720p. But in this day and age with how much processing has to go on with games and stuff, is that really relevant?
    It's basically giving a light load for the CPU to do. What matters is when the CPU is doing a lot. I don't think at 720p the CPU is doing a lot. It might be doing it better but it's not doing a lot. Understand?
    Was the 4090 maxed out at 1080p Ultra as well? I highly doubt it.
    If the Ryzen chips had more horsepower then you would see it at 1080p Ultra unless the game engines hit their limit.
    I know people are going to get on me about my comments here. Oh well.
    I think that the Intel CPUs are doing fine. It's the first gen. Everybody was hyped up about Ryzen first gen and that wasn't even as good compared to these Arrowlake CPUs.
    I find it hilarious how all the tech tubers are like a big mob with pitchforks and torches. They all together attacked Intel.
    Who was thinking that Intel was going to somehow make their best chip first from a new architecture?
    It's quite a strange thing to behold the hate mob. But certainly not surprised. It is always Intel bad or Nvidia bad.
    It's getting quite old.
    Anyway thanks for the testing.

      720p might not be relevant NOW but we added it because it can give a glimpse of how a platform can scale relative to future GPU performance increases. For example, today's 4090 might be tomorrow's 5080 and the next generation's 6070. Someone buying a high end platform now might want to whether or not their CPU has the legs to keep up with TOMORROW'S GPUs.

    • @ryanspencer6778
      @ryanspencer6778 12 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา

      I think 720p high is useful, but not 720p low. 720p would in theory remove any GPU bottleneck, and high settings are more representative of what you'd use a flagship chip for. High settings affect the CPU too, after all, especially RT.

    If i wanted efficiency i would not be on desktop buying a high end CPU. What a dumb thing to focus on for Arrow Lake. Zen 5 X3D will be even more efficient and spit out far higher frames while doing so. Intel is doomed.

    • @HardwareCanucks
      @HardwareCanucks  20 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา +4

      They needed to focus on efficiency because they couldn't keep throwing unlimited power at their silicon. At some point that would have led to massively diminishing returns. This allows them to hopefully set up for the future, delivering better generational increases that aren't power ceiling or heat limited.
