    Along the way, Stuart is always giving us an insight into the behind the scenes work at the cathedral and giving us his thoughts and views about his job and the building.

    Little Stuart ,what a guy, the politicians in this country want to take a leaf out of his book ,if they did their jobs properly like he does ,this country would be in a better shape,well done stu,credit to you for looking after this magnificent masterpiece.

      Thanks John. Absolutely right. Stuart is a thoroughly decent chap. And the politicians could certainly learn something from his work ethic.

    Wonderful documentary! When I was a kid, I got a book for Christmas called The Children's Guide to Architecture and the façade of Lincoln Cathedral was one of the pictures on the cover so I had wanted to see it since I was about 10 years old. My wish came true in 2010 when my friend and I went there in December on a not at all well-planned visit. Our trip coincided with the worst winter storm in years which ended up being lucky for us because we hadn't even booked a hotel! The weather caused the Christmas Market to be canceled at the last minute and we ended up having the Cathedral and the city pretty much to ourselves. I wouldn't give anything for that trip! I bet Stuart has some vivid memories of that storm too!!

      @smartproductionsltd  8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hey Stephen,
      Thank you. Wow! Your trip sounds memorable and all thew more magical for the winter storm. Shame about the Christmas market cancelation but maybe you'll see it on a return visit...it really is very good. I bet if you asked Stuart, he would remember it.

    Wonderful! I used to work in the Minster in the days when the Domus Supervisor was a mutton-chopped chap called Gordon. In those days, "young" Mr Boyfield was known as "Little Stuart"

    I chuckled when Stuart called Jim 'Muck'.....that's a proper Lincoln expression ie a shortened version of mucker or mate. Excellent video and I'm off up the tower today for the first time after living in the city for half a century!

    Love Lincoln ❤️ Nice to see the Cathedral from the perspective of the maintenance man “Domus Supervisor “. Even Mr Boyfield’s job title is majestic! Super! And he has a gargoyle/ grotesque xxx

    • @smartproductionsltd
      @smartproductionsltd  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, Stuart's gargoyle is amazing. I went up onto the roof to film those shots. It's a pretty decent size and is a true work of art in itself. Stuart is rightly proud of it.

    A majestosa Catedral de Lincoln. Muito bonita o exterior e também o interior da Catedral. E o trabalho desse homem é muito bom. A visão que se tem lá de cima da torre é simplesmente linda e o céu estava lindo nesse dia parabéns.

    I found it fascinating during the opening of the video how Stuart operates like clockwork while winding the clocks.He probably knows what time of day it is without even looking at his watch just by judging from the sounds of foot traffic.I was happy that we got a look into the bell tower.I’m a journeyman electrician by trade so i identified with many of the tasks involved.The fire alarm system,the most important had me at the edge of my chair...All good.
    Very Interesting about the gargoyles.Those are the nicest looking gargoyles I’ve ever seen,far from the grotesque.Truly a humbling job.
