I bought this car back on February of 2020. 41k on the odometer. Car has good pick up, good pep and go, extremely comfortable. Drove from Massachusetts to Maine and not once did I get uncomfortable. Perfect road trip car, perfect daily commuter. I average between 30-40 mpg on a full tank depending on the weather. Cold weather, snow and icy roads gives me lower MPG however the car has handled like a champ in 7 inches of snow and never once have I gotten stuck; turn off the traction control, have decent tires and its given me nothing but confidence when driving through the heaviest of snow storms.
The car got ranked to be most reliable compact car of 2016. So I’m hoping to keep this car til the wheels fall off. It’s stylish, fun to drive, and I'm always getting positive compliments. Next to the 2nd gen XB, this is my most favorite car I’ve owned. This little car hauls alot for a little hatchback; I've camped out in the back with the rear seats folded and an full size air mattress blown snuggly up and I was able to fit my 6ft frame along with my gf on many overnight camping trips at the beach. Went on several road trips with a rear facing baby seat, a full size baby stroller, three adults at 6ft tall, and we all fit nicely in the car with no complaints.
I just don't understand why Toyota would make the new Corolla hatchback a little less practical by making the cargo area smaller compared to the IM. 20.8 cu ft vs 17.8 cu ft baffles me. I almost want the Corolla hatchback to be my next car when it comes time to get rid of my IM but the deal breaker is the smaller cargo area. Deleting the wheel that they are now offering is ok, however you lose out on the spare tire unlike with the IM, you still have that spare tire. Which the spare has saved my butt on a few occasions.

I have a Scion iM I bought last October. I commute about 55 miles one way, and I average about 41mpg in my mixed driving. So far I like it a lot.

Great review. I had no idea they were making the Corollas in hatchback form. I'm going to be in the market in about a year so I'm looking at Ford, Toyota, Honda, and Kia to see what they have as hatchbacks. I know I will probably end up in the 2018 version but trying to get the general price figured out and it is not like the new models are going to be much different since I think all of them have had a recent redesign. I currently have a 09 Corolla so it was very interesting what is new as well as the same in the modern hatch version. Not sure it is for me though or the C-HR. Kind of learned after having the Corolla that I want more storage options (aka hatch), apple carplay and Bluetooth music (mine only has hands free and have to use a receiver for music), equal or better mpg, more hp for the crazy downtown driving, backup camera, and some version of sensing. For me the Focus, Fit, and Civic are my top 3 picks but I'm still going to test drive the Corolla iM and C-HR. I really hope Toyota ups their game. Not having moon roofs, carplay, sporty exterior, and basic dash are kind of hurting their brand. I've been visiting their showroom the last few times I have had my maintenance done at the dealer and it is a downer that many of the cars I'd be interested in buying are going basic and too much plastic in materials. I know Honda uses plastic too but they seem a step above at the moment. It wasn't that way before when I test drove a Civic in 2008 and ended up with the 09 Corolla S maxed out. If I had to pick now I'd get the 17 Civic Ex Hatch. The leather and nav tempted me but when I test drove it last week I wasn't crazy about the non-perforated leather and won't need nav with my iPhone's apple maps via carplay.

Hy bro, just subbed, great review, nice video at the right pace, I have the Toyota auris 1.8 petrol hybrid, supposed to do 78 mpg ! I get 46 mpg as don't hang about, below front bumper and rear mine is smoother design but 3 years old nearly from new, I glad you get a better finance deal to us in uk as I paid 25 thousand pounds in 2014, spare doughnut wheel and leather interior was extra, I have a self cocking shifter on my auto, prefer regular shifter, personally I really like this car excel I have top of range but to upgrade satnav is expensive beware if getting Toyota Corolla various models,as map updates change better to get own satnav rather than built in dashboard, for me Toyota is my favourite great dealerships and cars.

I've always loved the Civic Hatch since it first came out, but my #1 favorite is the Mazda3 GT Hatchback.

I just bought a 2017 used with 51,000 miles and these cars are super slow. I also seen reviews about that and the car vibrates a lot while I drive on the breaks at the light. My air went out last week, need an oil change and breaks already and only had it two months. Why is it so rough when the air is on and when in park while waiting on the light to change. Thanks
