The flood has already hit this comments section but probly should've warned earlier that this show... does have a very large *hatebase* - people who will seek out anyone enjoying the show and tell them how much they think it sucks. I recommend continuing with an open mind and forming your own opinions, rather than listening to people telling you to drop a story you're finding good partway through.
I personally really love this show. My friend introduced me to it when I was pretty little and I’ve been watching ever since. However, because I don’t like Crunchyroll’s ads, I haven’t seen season 9 yet. But I hear it’s the best season! Hope you enjoy this show just as much as I have! It’s actually pretty good, despite what people will often say about it!
Yeah don’t. Seriously as a former fan I enjoyed the first three volumes but after that imho it went downhill from there. I lasted until volume 5 (or 6 I can’t remember) and decided to jump ship. No regrets. But if you want to go on this ride I wish you luck.
I actually like Volume 4. But yeah, everything after that completely nosedive. *Especially Volume 6 and 9.* The only thing about Volume 4 I'll honestly defend is that it created an opportunity to do something new and to build a new dynamic. Sometimes throwing your cast in an entirely foreign situation and environment can work wonders and lets writers explore a different perspective. RWBY just didn't do the greatest job of showing that... and continued to decline from there. It had a decent setup, but future volumes failed to make it a worthwhile payoff. And then started the obnoxious trend of spreading a single arc through multiple volumes.
I wont deny the show went through a rough patch on transitioning to Maya, but I honestly think Volume 6 and onward are all better than Volumes 1-5. With perhaps the exceptions of 8 and 3 battling in my rankings. I flipflop between 6 and 9 being my favourite.
@@FixTheWi-Fi More honestly, the reason Volumes 1-4 are great in my opinion is that the early volumes with Monty, RWBY was just a fun show that didn't need to have heavy commentary, and was more or less a justification for Monty to do what he loves, animating cool girls doing badass things. RWBY was stumbling but it was finding its stance early on so the messy cliche writing was charming and endearing in its own way. But as a series grows, so should it's narrative and writing... it doesn't get to use the excuse of being a young series trying to find its standing anymore. So when the current writing feels pretty repetitive and kinda stagnant, challenging adversity with idealism and showing idealism doesn't work but constantly narratively saying that idealism is the key... it becomes contradictory. Because for 5 volumes they keep talking about idealism being the key to victory, but their only big win after years of objective failure, (more or less tied to their decisions) is beating a non-plot relevant cat in Volume 9. Five volumes... and your big win based on idealism and self-acceptance is against a cat that wanted to leave a tree. The outside problem was that after Monty passed away, some members of the original team, and even Monty's wife, who knew how Monty wanted to continue the story, were kicked out of production by RT. And through the years animators inspired by Monty were hired by RT under the guise of RT saying they're doing Monty's dream justice, and then led to numerous whistleblowers calling out the abuse of RT. Volume 4 was the first full volume where they were genuinely trying to figure out how to continue the story without Monty. But when they realized they could do whatever they want with the story... and the team... then the rest happened. And this doesn't even mention the conflict that happened between RT and Studio Shaft, the studio that inspired Monty, with Ice Queendom. Imagine insulting Monty's peers *during* a collaboration project, something that would've been Monty's dream. RWBY, and by extension RT, just weren't doing themselves any favors. Even one of the founders of RT expressed his depression and regret for RT going corporate. The friends they've lost, the bridges they've burned. They miss the days RT was just a group of friends working hard on projects they found fun just for less than a thousand views. Only for his openly blatant depression to be laughed off by other members justifying the change for "making more money". It becomes hard to support RT and RWBY, when they don't even support themselves. I don't hate RWBY for the sake of hating it, I hate RWBY because we have to watch it destroy everything it once was and everything it's trying to be.
@@JoelRodriguez-lr3wz SPOILERS Yang and Blake eventually start dating. People get upset about it, either because they prefer het ships, or because they think Blake is the exact same as Nicole from Class of 09

RWBY, an animated series formerly made by RoosterTeeth, now owned by Viz Media. Started from the "Red Trailer" trailer made by late legend Monty Oum while he was working on Red vs Blue. From there, he got Miles Luna and Kerry Shawcross on board to write the thing, and a kickass soundtrack courtesy of Jeff and Casey Williams, along with voice actors from... around the office lol. So it had the budget of a ketchup packet and Monty's freetime to start with, but as it went on both the budget and crew grew in size and talent, with it's latest season I'd say being the best it ever got. Highly recommend.

Truthfully, it's objectively good from 1 to 4, a bit amateurish but jt gets better amd starts off very decent.

Try to ignore the shippers.
Was it originally the shippers that made most people lesbian in this show or is it actually Canon?
