Great work Phoebe! I love seeing that sparkle in your eye every week I hit play on your new adventure. It’s amazing what the joy of travel and being around good company will do for you. So glad you’re having an amazing time on this trip. I went to Universal Studios Osaka back in 2007, but only stayed a half day. I’m sure it’s so much different now. And I’d love to sample butter beer. Hopefully I’ll get a chance to swing by the Hollywood park and see Super Nintendo world here at some point.

Hiya! I love the Japanese happiness shown in all those theme parks. It’s simply amazing ❤. They have the weirdest food in theme parks. I once had a black and red bun with some meat in Disneyland, and you’ve got insane food as well. Your visit to Universal Studios trip looks beautiful. Thanks for sharing and have a great week ahead 🤙

Loved that - such a riot of colour! I went to the Orlando one and my number one priority was the Jaws ride, sedate as it is. I just love Jaws. My wife said she wouldn't be that interested in going until she saw the Harry Potter bit and she perked up! 😅 We are going to the Harry Potter Studior Tour in London this year and she is seriously excited about that. Those Mario pancakes looked nuts! Another brilliant vid! I'm really looking forward to next week.

Im planning to go April 19 2024 and I just got more excited with your vlog! Was wondering what day of the week is the best to go to USJ? I read that mondays and tuesdays, are a lot of people too because schools schedule immersions on these days? Or would it make not much difference? Weekends are for sure a lot of people.

Loved this video! Just wondering, when you booked your ticket with the 7pm time slot does that guarantee you a timed entry at 7pm regardless of if you apply for another time slot?
I’m unsure how to answer this one love :) it sounds to me like this question is asking if you can visit twice? If yes, I don’t know the answer there. I got my time slot for earlier and just entered then. I didn’t try to go back later.
Gooooooood morning, Phoebe! This video must have been an absolute delight for you to create and edit. I imagine that there are a lot of scenes and shots that didn't make the final cut, but which filled you with such happy memories while watching them. I say this because, it's so obvious even from your first shot, that you had a great time at USJ! Let's get into it...
* Gotta have that shot at the entrance (I see others behind you setting up their shot, too). Love it.
* Good teaser...which did you like better? Gotta watch to the end to find out!
* Again, good travel tips...here's how to get there and here's what to use.
* Seeing the opening and quick shots of the park while knowing what Universal Orlando is like is, honestly, so much fun for me personally. Can't help but compare (we have a Mel's Drive-In, too) and contrast (a roller coaster over the entrance?!? Too cool).
* Continuing with the bouncy, energetic, fun, and, most importantly, happy music!
* Universal does great work with their coasters. I need to ride the new ones here (we've got one in which you are riding on Hagrid's motorbike!)
* You both are expressing how best guests express their joy after a great ride...just pure emotion and almost gibberish when trying to describe it. I love that feeling!
* The crowd (and, of course, YOU) were really into that parade! That's so fantastic to see! (Guess too many people here in Florida are jaded...or it's just too hot 🤣)
* Ok...point of confusion...in the establishing shot of the Mario cafe, there are people at the tables and it looks like they're eating and drinking. Heck...there are guests behind you eating their snack while you get kicked out (they get kicked out too, I noticed). What's up with that silly rule of "You can't eat at a cafe in which you just bought the food"?! Did they ever explain why? Odd.
* 🤩In my comments to last weeks' video, I mentioned your use of the lanyard on your phone and was quite curious about it. Now I know why you reserved commenting on that! What a neat product. And, as we'll soon be traveling, we may have to pick one or two up. How was using them? Looked like it was a breeze for you both and provided security for them while in crowded public places. Great use of a product within you video--showing off how they work in the real world.
* Cool to see they have a Marvel area too. Big fan of the Spidey ride. Looks like they also have the Hulk roller coaster. Were you able to ride it? I once was at ours when they were testing it. Asked me, my brother, and everyone on the ride to stay on it while they tested it 10 times. Yup, rode it 10 consecutive times. (Was VERY dizzy when we finally got off, but loved it!).
* Ha! Can't tell if James liked the churro. 😂
* That Mario hat looked good on you!
* I'm now seriously excited for Mario World (gotta wait for 2-3 years...unless, of course, we find our way to Osaka).
* Very good explaining how timed entry works. Seems like every park is starting to use those, as well as the virtual queues.
* Sometimes, a slow and fun ride is what you need during the day. As James said, super chill.
* The stunt shows are a hidden joy for me. Way to sit down, relax, and enjoy the day.
* Won't lie...I was waiting for your tripod to slowly ... start ... to ... fall. 🤣
* You accidentally discovered the secret to a long day at any theme park. When I worked guest services at Walt Disney World (WDW), I always told my guest that, at some point in the afternoon, you need to find a place to stop and sit down for at least 20 minutes. Grab a tea, coffee, soda (or, here in the summers of Florida, a large water or Powerade), and recharge. It's absolutely essential. (In Florida, it usually rains about 2 or 3 in the afternoon, so that's the perfect time. Just wait out the rain and relax). Well done. (And gotta love James finishing the song for ya. 🤣)
* Universal has better snacks than WDW, IMO. (But they don't have Epcot's ability to drink and snack around the world! Best outdoor bar ever--with a serious cover charge, of course!)
* Potter World is absolutely amazing. Butter Beer is the BEST. And you both are right, the ride is quite difficult to describe without spoiling, other than to say, it is a must ride! But just wandering around that area is so much fun!
* Glad you were able to see it at night. The parks completely change at night, sometimes for the better.
* I find the comparison between the parks here in Orlando to be equals; it's just a matter of what you are looking for. Each has their strengths. But, based on your video of Disney Japan, I think I'd agree with you that Universal is better there. You need to try to find your way all the way to Orlando to see WDW, which has a lot more to offer than it does in Japan (Of course, so does Universal Orlando!).
* James--can't ask her followers to sub to your channel without asking yours to follow her! So, in your upcoming videos, be a good man and be sure to do so!!
* Can't wait for next week. I've always wanted to see Sapporo and it looks like you got to see some sakura!
I hope you are still basking in the happiness and glow of your time in Japan. I know, upon return to "real life," the pressures and stress creep back in--but you get to keep those at bay by simply watching your videos (and the shots on the cutting room floor--hopefully we'll see some of those in the shorts this week!). I gotta say, I found this video a little hard cos I couldn't really film on any of the rides except the Yoshi one! It was hard to tell the whole story in a sense. Cos at Disney I could film on all the rides :) But I'm glad you still loved this one regardless.
hahaha how funny is it that we got in trouble for eating?! She was so sweet about it. It must happen very often. And omg my tripod hahaha he has since been retired and I have a very very fancy new one that I'm excited to use soon - It has the ability to get a little further away from me when I'm vlogging so I'm thinking that'll elevate those vlog shots a little more, creating more space and showing more background but still keeping the warmth when the camera is set up on a table. I was thinking of getting a wider lens but I quite like that feeling of intimacy my little lens gives. Feels more personal :)
The phone straps are awesome! Everyone in Japan has them so I got a cheap one out of curiosity while i was there and I'm obsessed with them. Glad I've got a good quality set now :) You're spot on - so good for safety but also for me, filming, I use my phone a lot so I can film/snap photos with it then just let it hang off me while I vlog with the good camera. It's honestly a game changer for me not having to find my phone every five seconds and I no longer drop it! hahaha

I expect trying to balance the desire for more background and sense of place against your style of being close is a challenge. I like the closeness, as it feels like we're there with you; but seeing more (as we would in real life) is an exciting addition.
I'd love to go to Japan to definitively decide which park is better. The advantage to Universal Orlando is that it's two parks and a City Walk. And, soon, there will be a third park, so there's more space to put in more rides. Just like with Disney--so much more space to do more with. If ever you find your way here, ask away and we'd be happy to offer help as to where to stay (and, more importantly, where not to stay!) and things to do. Would be our way to return the favors that you've done for us in giving us inspirations for our upcoming trip to NZ/Australia (can't believe it's only a month away!).

But from this video, u said that it can go in earlier from the ticket. But can I use the express pass for the attraction in that time that I choose manually from the app? Thankyou!

Super random question but I noticed that you guys had a backpack (assuming its for your camera gear) I was wondering if they had a place for you to store your backpack before each ride or something like that? I'll be travelling to Japan to check USJ out the end of the year and am quite worried that my gear backpack may cause me to miss out some rides.
Yes! You can pop your bags in a cubby hole or storage locker before each ride :)

Thank you so much! When I visited there wasn’t a requirement to wear one but I’ve visited Japan many times in the past and the general approach is that you wear one of you don’t feel 100% so you don’t share your cold with anyone. Japanese culture is polite and respectful so if you have a sniffle or a cough, even a sore eye, you cover up!
I'm surprised you weren't allowed to eat at the tables! I'm kind of nervous about being told where I can and can't eat in Japan. As a foreigner, I feel like there's going to be a learning curve.

Any tips to guarantee our entry into Nintendo world? I’ve heard of some people not get into Nintendo section, and if that happened to us, our kids would be so sad. We are going in Oct 2023. Thanks for any tips!
I don’t believe there is any way to guarantee it for 100% certain but express passes do come with a timed entry (I just recall someone telling me that even then, it’s not 100% for certain but you should get in). We visited during Golden Week, the busiest week in Japan, and we got in no trouble.

Oh gosh I’m so sorry but I don’t recall the exact day! I actually think we went on the worst day possible though it may have been a weekend and it definitely was Golden Week 😂 I thought for sure it would be packed but it was fine!
So do you have to buy the Studio Pass and THEN the express pass?
Yes!! They’re two seperate things 🙌🏻 the studio pass is general entry with access to all rides and you can still use the USJ app to try for a timed entry into Super Nintendo World but. The express pass gives you a timed entry + you skip the queue for 4 or 7 rides 🙏🏼

How about from USJ going back to Kansai Airport what step by step transportation?
I went recently and a lot of the big rides that I wanted to see were down. I can't remember the exact date I went, but rides like Jaws and several others were closed. It was very disappointing because when I bought my ticket, I was expecting all of the rides to be open and working. I am not paying for a bunch of big rides to be closed.

Yes
After visiting both Nintendo Worlds in Japan and Hollywood, I feel that both parks are better in their own ways.
In Japan, there is a lot more different activities to do, with more variety of different foods that are way better than Hollywood's Toadstool Cafe (Except for the Burgers, Hollywood does them better), they also have their own unique headbands which japan's headbands are better, while hollywood's shirts and hats are better.
And rides like Mario Kart, compared to Hollywood, takes less time to line up for than in Hollywood. If you are lucky, you can get in to Japan's Nintendo World as early as 7:30am in the morning. However, unlike Hollywood, there are some days where you MUST book a Timed Entry Ticket (Virtual Line) in order to get to the park, and sometimes you must go to a specialized kiosk to book them.
Meeting mascots (except Toad) is much stricter, due to the fact that unlike Hollywood, you are not allowed to have your phone to take pictures with mascots, you must stand in a specific position when you meet mascots, you must pose how the mascot poses for pictures, and you must pay 6000 yen for pictures.
While in Hollywood, it's just you interacting with the mascot, the staff are allowed to use your phone for picture taking, and you are allowed to greet the mascots with how you like to greet them (plushies).
When I met Peach in Japan, the line takes longer compared to Hollywood (30 minutes in Japan). And she would just interact with the staff member every time and only interact with me based on what the staff tells her to do for the first 30 seconds of the meet and greet to fill in that time. When I even tried to greet her with my plushies, she just ignores them.
When I met Peach in Hollywood the line is way shorter (2-15 minutes), and she is even willing to get to know more of my different plushies, and with Toadette being her favourite, she would always be happy to hold her and hug her for the picture-taking. The meet and greet is straight to the point and no nonsense.
