Also, it didn't make sense as to how Orochimaru could summon Lord 4th, when Minato had sealed himself in Reaper Death Seal, cuz in the war arc Oro said they only way to summon the 4 hokage was to use the Uzumaki mask

Hiruzen stopped Minato's coffin with some nameless sealing jutsu, and then years down the line its was retconned into failing for the very good reason of Minato's soul not residing in the Pure World. And we won't even get into Hashirama, Tobirama, Madara's power creep when they were summoned during the War Arc.
You can't Edo Tensei someone who is sealed by the Shiki Fuujin. We have to ask Kishimoto if he already thought about that at that time or the 3rd stopped it...
Minato was also pretty young when he died. Imagine how strong we would be if he lived to see his 30's? Minato probably had more potential than the first 3 kage.

That's my favorite bit of lore attached to the 4th Hokage Minato Namikaze. Maybe it went without saying don't attempt to fight Hashirama or Madara, but we've seen and heard people brave enough to do it. The only people who outright attacked Minato were Kage level and beyond opponents.

@@MrGhst-np4zf hard to argue any point there since we never saw kushina in a fight or those chains used except against kurama and zetsu on that wood buddha (which was more or less unstoppable for the allied shinobi + their kage until karin and hiruzen). we don´t know what you can do with those chains exactly, or how fast they can be. can you form them like a cocoon around you? in that case minato would be unable to do anything.
Just imagine if he lived longer, perfected his sage mode, developed flying raijin level3 or something, created some new badass seal or new jutsu. Potential this dude had was endless and thats why Kishimoto killed him off early

In all seriousness, Minato has the coolest fighting style and jutsu at his disposal. Better still is the fact that none of it was some latent gimmick waiting to be awakened like in the case of nearly every other kage-level shinobi. Just pure intellect and practice.
The biggest testament to Minato's abilities is Madara. When Madara plotted out to have Kakashi kill Rin and have Obito turn to him he had to wait for Minato to be off on another mission. For all his planning and scheming, his best plan here was just for Minato to not be there.

He looks so perfect, calm etc. something like the epitome of a good person but dont be deceived..this guy killed not just tens or hundreds--THOUSAND! His actions in the 3rdwar effectively forced a peace treaty. Hence also saving thousands. This guy is basically the atomic bomb in the shinobi world.
He's that calm because calm is terrifying. Think of it, if someone is raging and kills someone, you think "holy fuck he just killed that guy" but you likely still run. If someone kills someone with no emotion, no feeling, and does so faster than you can blink, THAT'S true fear. If we're being unbiased and brutally honest... The 3rd Hokage Hiruzen in his prime would have to be considered the strongest hokage. Considering he's the Master of the 3 legendary Sannin and student/pupil to both the 1st and 2nd hokages and is known to have mastered all off Konohas justu. Hiruzen-sama was dawn God of Shinobi only him and the 1st were credited with such titles. Therefore after years of critical thinking and accepting all the facts for what they are. Hiruzen in his prime is the strongest hokage excluding Naruto.

Minato the real OP and my fave character after watching Naruto so many times, like he wasn't even from a distinguished clan and through hard work and intellect slayed, he became hokage at like, 20?? Had wife and child who would later become a literal God. The best Naruto characters are dead from the start that's a rule.

People do not get how OP Flying Rajin can be. Once you are marked, Minato can always teleport to you. It doesnt matter where you are: in your village, in bed, on the toilet, in a different dimension. How scary it could be that an enemy can mark and go to you anytime, anywhere to slit your throat. It also prevents enemies marked frm returning home since they will allow an enemy to easily infiltrate the village. I think the recent Databook said how the mark acts like a “mark of assassination or death” Plus, the mark will never dissapear, even if it has been decades and the user dies (Obito still had his mark over 18 years later, and long after Minato died). WHile Kamui is more powerful in terms of versatility, it seems one needs to sense chakra of a location to teleport to. Minato can teleport to a marking of his, regardless if he can sense the marked person’s chakra or not.

All the people who became Hokage in Naruto it was because they were mentored by other hokages.. tobirama because of hashirama, Hiruzen because of Tobirama nd hashirama, lady tsunade because of hiruzen, kakashi student of minato and Naruto student of Kakashi and hard work too.. Minato is the only hokage who made it on his own, without help of any hokage and without sanju blood.... Minatos super skilled and talented
This honestly confuses me. I hear the most ridiculous things about Minato. How is he underrated? Everyone thinks he wins against practically anyone because of speed. Theres also the whole idea about how he can stop the entire war all by himself.

They should make like a mini series going deeper into minatos childhood. His friends parents siblings (if he had any that is) and basically telling us about how he got to where he was when he died. Also i want to see how he learned the rasengan over the 3 years and the flying raijin.

I always used to think the 4th hokage was the strongest before he was revealed especially because of that orochimaru vs hiruzen fight because when orochimaru was about to open the gate to release the fourth hokage he imediately reacted and stopped it from opening plus people kept hyping him up and shit and compared naruto to him which made me think the fourth was the strongest and naruto was supposed to surpass him
Originally he was the strongest. Then Kishimoto had to extend the series and built some more lore. In the process he massively buffed the first/ second Hokage and gave a lot of the fourths techniques to the second Hokage and the Uzumaki clan. Never understood that decision.

I never understood why Masashi decided to take away the most important technique that at the beginning was Minato's creation and giving them to the second Hokage, he could have created something different of the second hokage.

I grew up with the series like a lot of people and while I don't consider myself a die hard fan I've read the manga from beginning to end and the tonal shifts in Shippuden are rather jarring. I'm probably so annoyed by it because I really liked the implied lore in naruto that Kishimoto later threw out of the window. A world of demons and gods like Shukaku the nine tails and the Shinigami were simply more appealing to me than Bijuu and aliens. The most powerfull shinobi in the world having to make a deal with the Shinigami to defeat the nine tails also resonated with me. It showed that are things in the world even the most skilled shinobi have to be afraid of. Hashirama stomping the bijuu is pretty symbolic of the change brought by the war arc. It turned the naruto I knew into a Dragonball Z. Sorry for the little rant. I have a lot of fond memories of the series and this subject pretty much lies at the core of the problems I have with the later parts of it.
PGvK97 V K i agree with all this, this is exactly my problem with the decision Masashi made, especially trying to make the first generation super powerful and legendary but making other character loose they original elements that make them special. That why Minato became one of my favourite characters, he was an incredible one but Masashi disregard that :(
Also in the 3rds fight with orochimaru, orochimaru attempts to reanimate the 3 dead hokage, after the first and second are summoned hiruzen says in the dub " I must stop the third at all costs" meaning that hiruzen was at the very least putting the 4th on a similar level as both the 1st and 2nd hokage
That does not actually necessarily mean Hiruzen was putting Minato up with the first and second. Orochimaru was pitting a psychological war on Hiruzen, making him fight those he knew personally. Hiruzen could not bring himself to fight Minato as close as he was to him. Also, Orochimaru already summoned two, obviously anyone would want to prevent a fourth Kage level enemy from showing up making the fight harder, regardless of that opponent's strength.
Kushina is the one who is underrated. She managed to chain Kurama even though the Jinchuriki is supposed to die if the Bijuu is extracted from their body.
Mito (First Hokage’s Wife, had Kurama before Kushina) is even more impressive. Not only did she live with the nine tails for decades, and never lost control of it once, and even survived having it be removed when it was given to Kushina, and lived for like 20 years afterwards, too, when most people would die immediately. According to Kishimoto, for the Uzimaki, this is pretty normal, which goes to show just how strong the life force of people of this clan are. Kushina supposedly could’ve have survived having the Nine Tails removed if she wasn’t impaled by his claw, too. Makes sense, cause her life force was still strong enough to bind the nine tails after both of these happened to her.
3:58 Obito didn't only have a standard Sharingan against Minato. I believe at the point, he has hashirama cells along with his mangekyo. The first time Obito left the lair was to try to save Rin, during which time he gets his mangekyo

I don't think Naruto would be spoiled. I think he will be the same but with friends and a little more popular, but he will still have a great heart and have a better reason for being Hokage and probably be annoying for some training or something but yea, I agree that the whole series would change.

Madara in that form could not be killed with only physical force. Guy is strong yes but taijustu can be handled pretty easily with ninjustu. Madara didn't use any ninjustu in that fight. If he had used his powerful ninjustu like he used against Sasuke and Naruto and against shinobi alliance guy would be defeated pretty easy. Madara declared guy as strongest taijustu user. If Madara had used any of his basic sharingan eye just guy would be killed in an instant.
@Ruston Aguada He used truth seeking orbs as a defence and never attacked guy. And Minato helped guy by teleporting those orbs away even kakashi helped with kamui. Madara never went offensive in that fight. He never attacked. He was just way too defensive and was only analyzing guy's abilities. He had rinegan. He could have used almighty push or planetary devastation. He was the sage of sixt path. Are you kidding me? He had atleast 10 times more chakra than those eight gates. That fight was just showcase for guy's eight gates that we heard hyped up for entire series. In the end Madara healed himself and then had to fight with Naruto and Sasuke while guy could have died if Naruto hadn't saved him.

The thing impressive about minato was that he didn't come from a special clan. He came from an average family and he still was capable of kicking ninjas asses when he was a kid. The dude died in his 20s. If he lived longer the mf would've developed new techniques and become op asf.

Rather late, but if following classic logic, after one unlocks MS it is not required for it to be active in order to fully use user specific doujutsu. Itachi locked Kakashi on tsukuyomi even though both of them were using regular sharingan Obito himself during most of his time in Akatsuki never took anyone seriously except for Konan, and he was pretty much using kamui left and right like a unlimited bus ticket
The Great 4th Hokage isnt underrated sir, he's so amazing for the people (specially fans and me) even if he's long dead in the series, he is always mentioned and hyped.
Personally for me, if we are talking alive Minato, given what we've seen of his fighting style and jutsu, he seems more effective on a personal scale. Like until we get Edo Minato, we never really see him using any large scale aoe attacks or really any super powerful attacks like Rasenshuriken. We only ever see him attacking with his kunai and the Rasengan. My personal interpretation of Minato on the battlefield is that Flying Raijin allows him to quickly teleport, engage one enemy, kill them quickly, teleport to the next enemy, do the same, rinse and repeat until everyone is dead. Flying Raijin would allow Minato to control the battlefield, target individuals and take them out before they even know what happened so he could move on to the next guy.

Itachi in shippuden would body shisui. Shisui as a teen was more so a surperior version of teen itachi. And teen itachi is nowhere near minato level. If shisui had lived to he itachi age, then sure, he might be minato level.

Minato has flying raijin which is infinitely better than his body flicker. Itachi has the inferior genjutsu but can use it multiple times compared to shisui who can use it once every ten years. Itachi was somewhat rivalling shisui at around 14 and itachi wasn’t nowhere near as strong as he was in the original naruto. And no matter how you slice it, danzo was right infront of shisui and took his sharingan after a few punches. Itachi with sickness was stronger than sasuke and sasuke was completely superior to danzo in every physical way. When danzo beat shisui, he didn’t even have his sharingan arm. If he had lived to be itachi’s age, then he would’ve been much stronger than him but he didn’t and his abilities at the time of his death are NOT top tier. Not by a long shot

I also really like that the Flee on Sight order makes perfect sense in retrospective. It´s not about him being absolutely deadly, actually not at all. It´s about him being able to plant that seal on people and things with a touch. Because no matter how deadly he was, one thing is so much more terrifying for the other vilages, and thats your whole security and opsec being obliterated with one touch, and the enemy being able to come and go as he pleases with nothing you can do against it.
Because he often gets rated lower in debates than he should. They sorta relegate him to being 'stronger than any side characters that aren't hokage' but still weaker than main characters.

Also, I'm getting a lot of "But doesn't Edo give you infinite chakra?" questions, and the answer is no. Minato runs out of Chakra numerous times as an Edo, and is the entire reason he's tired vs Zetsu Obito and why Hiruzen had to save Naruto, as Minato didn't have enough chakra to use a flying raijin to save him.

And we won't even get into Hashirama, Tobirama, Madara's power creep when they were summoned during the War Arc.

Kushina was a kunoichi and a taijutsu specialist. She was also a sealing prodigy as she learnt it from her clan.

In all seriousness, Minato has the coolest fighting style and jutsu at his disposal. Better still is the fact that none of it was some latent gimmick waiting to be awakened like in the case of nearly every other kage-level shinobi. Just pure intellect and practice.

The biggest testament to Minato's abilities is Madara. When Madara plotted out to have Kakashi kill Rin and have Obito turn to him he had to wait for Minato to be off on another mission. For all his planning and scheming, his best plan here was just for Minato to not be there.

Once you are marked, Minato can always teleport to you. It doesnt matter where you are: in your village, in bed, on the toilet, in a different dimension.
How scary it could be that an enemy can mark and go to you anytime, anywhere to slit your throat.
It also prevents enemies marked frm returning home since they will allow an enemy to easily infiltrate the village.
I think the recent Databook said how the mark acts like a “mark of assassination or death”
Plus, the mark will never dissapear, even if it has been decades and the user dies (Obito still had his mark over 18 years later, and long after Minato died).
WHile Kamui is more powerful in terms of versatility, it seems one needs to sense chakra of a location to teleport to. Minato can teleport to a marking of his, regardless if he can sense the marked person’s chakra or not.
I got a question about this did the mark on Obito reappear because Minato was reanimated or did it legit just never be removed.

I always used to think the 4th hokage was the strongest before he was revealed especially because of that orochimaru vs hiruzen fight because when orochimaru was about to open the gate to release the fourth hokage he imediately reacted and stopped it from opening plus people kept hyping him up and shit and compared naruto to him which made me think the fourth was the strongest and naruto was supposed to surpass him
Originally he was the strongest. Then Kishimoto had to extend the series and built some more lore. In the process he massively buffed the first/ second Hokage and gave a lot of the fourths techniques to the second Hokage and the Uzumaki clan. Never understood that decision.

I never understood why Masashi decided to take away the most important technique that at the beginning was Minato's creation and giving them to the second Hokage, he could have created something different of the second hokage.

I grew up with the series like a lot of people and while I don't consider myself a die hard fan I've read the manga from beginning to end and the tonal shifts in Shippuden are rather jarring. I'm probably so annoyed by it because I really liked the implied lore in naruto that Kishimoto later threw out of the window. A world of demons and gods like Shukaku the nine tails and the Shinigami were simply more appealing to me than Bijuu and aliens.
The most powerfull shinobi in the world having to make a deal with the Shinigami to defeat the nine tails also resonated with me. It showed that are things in the world even the most skilled shinobi have to be afraid of. Hashirama stomping the bijuu is pretty symbolic of the change brought by the war arc. It turned the naruto I knew into a Dragonball Z.
Sorry for the little rant. I have a lot of fond memories of the series and this subject pretty much lies at the core of the problems I have with the later parts of it.

Also in the 3rds fight with orochimaru, orochimaru attempts to reanimate the 3 dead hokage, after the first and second are summoned hiruzen says in the dub " I must stop the third at all costs" meaning that hiruzen was at the very least putting the 4th on a similar level as both the 1st and 2nd hokage
That does not actually necessarily mean Hiruzen was putting Minato up with the first and second. Orochimaru was pitting a psychological war on Hiruzen, making him fight those he knew personally. Hiruzen could not bring himself to fight Minato as close as he was to him. Also, Orochimaru already summoned two, obviously anyone would want to prevent a fourth Kage level enemy from showing up making the fight harder, regardless of that opponent's strength.

Kushina is the one who is underrated. She managed to chain Kurama even though the Jinchuriki is supposed to die if the Bijuu is extracted from their body.
Mito (First Hokage’s Wife, had Kurama before Kushina) is even more impressive.
Not only did she live with the nine tails for decades, and never lost control of it once, and even survived having it be removed when it was given to Kushina, and lived for like 20 years afterwards, too, when most people would die immediately.
According to Kishimoto, for the Uzimaki, this is pretty normal, which goes to show just how strong the life force of people of this clan are.
Kushina supposedly could’ve have survived having the Nine Tails removed if she wasn’t impaled by his claw, too. Makes sense, cause her life force was still strong enough to bind the nine tails after both of these happened to her.

If he had used his powerful ninjustu like he used against Sasuke and Naruto and against shinobi alliance guy would be defeated pretty easy. Madara declared guy as strongest taijustu user. If Madara had used any of his basic sharingan eye just guy would be killed in an instant.

He could have used almighty push or planetary devastation. He was the sage of sixt path. Are you kidding me? He had atleast 10 times more chakra than those eight gates. That fight was just showcase for guy's eight gates that we heard hyped up for entire series. In the end Madara healed himself and then had to fight with Naruto and Sasuke while guy could have died if Naruto hadn't saved him.

I see this misconception a lot... obito had MS when he attacked them leaf village when Minato was Hokage... Kamui is an MS ability and he clearly uses it the the fight
Rather late, but if following classic logic, after one unlocks MS it is not required for it to be active in order to fully use user specific doujutsu.
Itachi locked Kakashi on tsukuyomi even though both of them were using regular sharingan
Obito himself during most of his time in Akatsuki never took anyone seriously except for Konan, and he was pretty much using kamui left and right like a unlimited bus ticket

Personally for me, if we are talking alive Minato, given what we've seen of his fighting style and jutsu, he seems more effective on a personal scale. Like until we get Edo Minato, we never really see him using any large scale aoe attacks or really any super powerful attacks like Rasenshuriken. We only ever see him attacking with his kunai and the Rasengan.
My personal interpretation of Minato on the battlefield is that Flying Raijin allows him to quickly teleport, engage one enemy, kill them quickly, teleport to the next enemy, do the same, rinse and repeat until everyone is dead. Flying Raijin would allow Minato to control the battlefield, target individuals and take them out before they even know what happened so he could move on to the next guy.
The 4th Hokage was the most hyped character in the beginning of Naruto and then...Kish changed his mind for whatever reason

@Nikolai Rose Wow, you're delusional. Even in a weakened state, the elite ninja of Naruto's age feared and respected Minato's power and skills. His single-minded defense of the leaf village means that almost no one would have fought him, as long as they avoided the Leaf Village, but anyone who fought him lost. I don't remember a single fight that he's quoted as losing before he sacrificed himself ON PURPOSE, to compensate for his wife's lapse in judgement to save their son.
He still died at the end of the day.

Lol, shisui is not that special. Now , people think that he’s stronger than itachi if itachi didn’t have sickness. While that would be true, shisui died at like 17. Itachi in shippuden would body shisui. Shisui as a teen was more so a surperior version of teen itachi. And teen itachi is nowhere near minato level. If shisui had lived to he itachi age, then sure, he might be minato level.
@@dionshelby5494 He had minato's teleportation jutsu, he had the mangekyou sharingan, he had a genjutsu so strong that enemies don't even knew that they were being controled. He never used it but he probably had susano'o. And he was just 16 when he died... minato, itachi or even sasuke can't be compared to shisui, he was too strong to be kept alive in the show.
@@byakko4518 he had body flicker not flying raijin. His genjutsu could only be used once every ten years. He died at 16 and was punked by danzo before he could respond. Yeah, he was young and would’ve been prime itachi without sickness but superior in every way if he’d lived but he didn’t. At his death age, he wasn’t that strong compared to the top tiers in naruto. Minato has flying raijin which is infinitely better than his body flicker. Itachi has the inferior genjutsu but can use it multiple times compared to shisui who can use it once every ten years. Itachi was somewhat rivalling shisui at around 14 and itachi wasn’t nowhere near as strong as he was in the original naruto. And no matter how you slice it, danzo was right infront of shisui and took his sharingan after a few punches. Itachi with sickness was stronger than sasuke and sasuke was completely superior to danzo in every physical way. When danzo beat shisui, he didn’t even have his sharingan arm. If he had lived to be itachi’s age, then he would’ve been much stronger than him but he didn’t and his abilities at the time of his death are NOT top tier. Not by a long shot

I also really like that the Flee on Sight order makes perfect sense in retrospective. It´s not about him being absolutely deadly, actually not at all. It´s about him being able to plant that seal on people and things with a touch. Because no matter how deadly he was, one thing is so much more terrifying for the other vilages, and thats your whole security and opsec being obliterated with one touch, and the enemy being able to come and go as he pleases with nothing you can do against it.

Because he often gets rated lower in debates than he should. They sorta relegate him to being 'stronger than any side characters that aren't hokage' but still weaker than main characters.

It’s because ppl down play him due to his lack of destructive power, him not having a sharingan, his flying raijin being heavily downplayed, and the nerf he had during the war. Ngl it takes imagination to understand what Minato can do, and a lot of ppl only see the show for what it is at the base lvl. But when you really take into account the lore and how things work, flying raijin really is a game changing ability when you use it the right way so I definitely see why it gets so much hype
