    god this was so so relatable as a singaporean girl in her 20s who also moved out from a rental penthouse.... I also moved in dazzled by the sparkles, the roof and pool, the rent was not realistic but idea was so beautiful that I never foresaw that there was going to be so many issues. This was so accurate and honestly my experience was so similar I was just nodding through the entire video.
    From the part where you were talking about cleaning, to the part where you talked about living together and the other party not pulling their weight in cleaning, you shouldering everything. Wah I felt it. I really felt it. As glamorous as it looked, the time I spent there was the time where my mental health and general health went to sh*t, and all the stress from everything and moving made me have really bad eczema flareups too. My work is in media too and I couldn't even film or bring myself to post anything so I had no income too on top of all the rent and crazy utilities. And even the part when you said there might be something in the penthouse, I felt the same too at my old place, when I was there I was sick every single month and going to the a&e, but right now after moving out I'm completely fine and healthy.
    Honestly felt like there was finally someone who understood that same struggles I went through, thank you for being vulnerable and open sharing your whole experience!! also you are really inspiring and I hope you know that! so happy for you now and glad to see you happier, at a new place and in love again!!!

      Omg that’s absolutely wild that our experiences are so niche yet so similar!!! Wow. It was such an intense storm of everything you just mentioned and a lot of guilt and regret for making the decision to move in lol. Glad we’re both out of it sis. Thanks for sharing, it really does make me feel less alone and less crazy too 😩🥹❤️

    can i just say, i'm so ready to DM u soon because i'm slowly ready to start my journey on getting my first home. Also i love love LOVE hearing your pains about your journey because they're not talked about enough, there's so many learning points ! I've been following u for years and so so happy for you and your current love with such a loving supportive partner T_T

    ah during that time i remember that you weren't posting as much! truly was worried about you. Living together comes with a lot more responsibilities and you're so right, actions speak louder than words. But don't beat yourself up love, you were also right to think that the both of you were supposed to be in this together and should have been a team. I can tell how exhausted you were shouldering the majority of the economic burden (3/4 of the rent) and most of the domestic labour of planning, cleaning, moving, driving etc. Your feelings were totally warranted and I'm sorry you had to learn this lesson this way! Glad to see you living out your best life right now. A happy, clean home equals to a happy life, no matter the square feet. You look so happy ♥

      omg hahaha you've made me cry. i think i felt a lot of guilt and shame associated with having had to end the relationship but that was completely the right call to make and you've no idea how validating and comforting it is to read your comment, so thank you so much seriously. T___T wishing the very best for you too!!

    I'd just gotten to know about you and this channel a year before you moved into the penthouse I think, and then there was a whole year when you barely posted so of course I've been waiting for this video to finally fill in that blank! Thank you as always for being you in videos like this - open, intimate, wise and being able to be so objective when reflecting on the past. Your sharings are always so affirming and wholesome and worth every second spent listening. I'm truly happy to see that you're in a much better and healthier place today and I love that you've found the closure you deserve for this short but impactful chapter of your life.

    i'm so inspired by this video!! even tho it didnt work out you did sooo manyyy things and you did it yourself like fixing furniture together, learning driving, etc on top of moving..and still manage to enjoy in the end. there's so many things we can all learn like how would anyone know jacuzzi is so high maintenance for mosquitoes....

    • @wordweed
      @wordweed  หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      I’m so glad you enjoyed it!! Ya ykw for what it’s worth, I’m really glad I managed to persevere through all of that and still take pride in my good memories despite everything and the work I’d put in. I don’t feel depressed or bitter about this period of my life at all cos RLY I LEARNT SO MUCH. HAHAHAH omg that jacuzzi especially. I know so much about jacuzzi maintenance now it’s the most useless unsexy niche, I can’t even bust it out at parties HAHAHAHA

    Our first house has a balcony, we were excited and bought outdoor table and chairs for it but we only sat there once for coffee for the 5 years we stayed there, the place is perpetually dusty.

    Very relatable experience of moving into a house that's bigger than you need. So glad you decluttered because all the stuff was stressing me out for you 😅 but I'm a minimalist so 🤷

    Just came across your video, and you were talking about cleaning. My house is just over 4000 sqft divided over 4 floors. My solution to cleaning is a roomba on each floor. Goes out everyday and does the rounds. I emtpy them once a week. As for dusting furntiure just a quick dust every fortnight. The golden rule is dont have too many things like photo frames or plants on the horizontal surfaces and you will save tons of time dusting. The roombas were the best thing i ever bought.

    as someone who followed your living alone story from 5 years back till the current predicament, my 2 cents of advice is I saw that youre someone that's very independent that it kinda become like a double edge sword. Just the episode of moving out and settling in should involve plenty of ones regular kakis but it seems not present here. And alas from the a guys' POV of your former partner, he's either too young to be tied down with so much or either just go with the flow kind till commitments comes in. Whatever it is, good job on coming back stronger and thank you for sharing the experience.

    No, I love the house walk through ❤ I like houses that looked lived in and yours just reflected the different hobbies and interests you have and the beings you have in your life (read: pet gate on the stairs for Noodles-I relate as a hooman to two dogs)
