Walter Trout - Say Goodbye To The Blues from his new live record ALIVE In Amsterdam.
'ALIVE in Amsterdam’ is the sound of a man announcing his resurrection after a period on the ropes. As Trout’s army of international fans are painfully aware, recent times have taken the bandleader to the brink, following a bleak diagnosis of life-threatening liver failure and hepatitis C in 2013. Trout’s rebirth began with a successful transplant in May 2014, and gathered pace with 2015’s ‘Battle Scars’: the acclaimed studio album that channeled his near-death experience into raw autobiographical songs.

"Epic" and "masterpiece" were the first two words that came to my mind.
UMM 🤔? IDK if I’d agree that he’s the ‘real’ King of the Blues. Trout even said that he was inspired by, and dedicated this song, to B. B. King. The 3 Blues ‘Kings’ were the late B. B., Al, and Freddie, or so I’ve read multiple times in various interviews, etc. BUT I do think Trout is a 👍 🎸ist! I 1st heard of him in a duet with Beth Hart with the song ‘Broken’, and then I began listening to more of his music. (I like Beth a lot, as well as Gary Moore whose vocal style I’d consider as being somewhat close to Trout’s.)

Saw Walter play this at the MIM in Phoenix, Az on 03/03/20. Remember part of the story he told about the late great B B. King. What a smashing rendition that night, very reminiscent of this version! He was smokin that night!!
